There hasn't been this much buzz around a 49ers' QB since they took Alex Smith with the #1 overall pick 13 years ago and even then, it wasn't like when Jimmy got into town. Most quarterbacks in the league have a great arm. They can "make all the throws" is a term we hear all the time. So why is one QB better than the next? Why is Tom Brady, Tom Brady and why is Luke McCown, Luke McCown? Its whats upstairs that separates the greats from the average. Its how one sees a game. Tom Brady, pre-snap, knows exactly what a defense is going to do by their formation, situation and personnel. Tom Brady has said in interviews that he loves watching film. Thats the mentality you have to have. Its why Alex Smith has been a starter in the league for 13 years. Its why Peyton Manning lead the league in TDs and won a Super Bowl even when he could barely throw anymore. Jimmy G. has that same mentality and its hard to teach. Thats why I think he's going to succeed. He knows what it takes to be great which is something he probably learned from Brady and Belichick, and he's going all out to make sure he does it.
