Sad to see this series end. Congrats to the Ford Performance team for hitting their goals on time and creating what is sure to be one of the greatest, if not the greatest, production hatches ever made.
What a fantastic piece of Engineering product. The team has done a terrific job and kudos to the little guy, Raj. He's really the VP Ford needs, the last man standing. He seemed critical of his 3 issues in the previous Episode and rightfuly so, because the final product just shows the amount of effort it takes to build a masterpiece like RS. Great fucking job.
Great Job on the car. I already ordered mine in Shadow Black a month ago so I have been impatiently watching this series while waiting for my RS. Can't wait for it to get here. Glad to see Raj was not willing to put out a car they weren't 100% happy with tho my patients are wearing thin I wouldn't of wanted the car to be rushed just to meet a deadline. For anyone else who may be interested in getting one I can tell you that numbers are gonna be limited. Only one will be coming to my entire city. Glad I got my hands on it before someone else did. Also for those interested coming soon to BShiftyTV the 2016 Ford Focus RS.
The amount will vary because ut depends on the amount of Focus STs and Fiestas STs (2013-15) the dealer sold in the last 3 years (since the 2013 model released). So if intrested talk to your dealer to see how many they have orderd or are able to order.
I already know that at least in Canada the dealership where I ordered mine was told they are only gonna get one Focus RS for 2016 and that its the only one coming to the area. I was actually there buying the car while Ford Rep. was there and I heard him say to them that numbers are gonna be limited so much so that not even every dealership will be able to get one. I believe part of it has to do with for me here in Canada the car is technically an import as its being made in Germany unlike the Focus ST n' Fiesta ST which are built in America.
I meant this to be a seperate comment but i accidently clicked on yours. It very well could be less availability in Canada due to the ST no being widely available as it is here in the States. Anyways I hope you enjoy your RS next year. I cant wait for mine to arrive to take to Laguna Seca for some power laps.
Thanks. Been waiting for over 20 years for Ford to bring the RS to this side of the world. Hope you enjoy yours as well and if I it wasn't a 5+ day drive away I would say see you at Laguna.
My wife & I have enjoyed the series of videos, excellent job on the car guys. She has a nitrous blue on order and is impatiently waiting for it to get here haha.
Personally if choosing between the Ford GT350, and the Focus RS, I would take the RS. Before I get attacked for this response, let me say I think the GT350 is an awesome looking, capable car, and I would take that car any day. But here are the reasons why I say what I say: #1. The RS is turbocharged, which means, even though its down on hp and torque now compared to the GT350, it will be a heck of a lot cheaper to upgrade and make faster than the naturally aspirated GT350. Just a few tunes here and there, and I won't be surprised if the RS will be faster than the GT350, and a fraction of the cost. 2. More practical. 3. Better mpg 4. All wheel drive system that lets you go anywhere, anytime, but also can transfer up to 70% of torque to the rear axle, and 100% of that torque to either rear wheel, making it achieve drift status. Those are my reasons for my decision. Being the owner of a BMW M3, it frustrates me knowing that it would cost me over $10k just for a turbo or supercharger kit, and that any and all normal modifications (exhaust, headers, intake, etc) do little to nothing to get more performance out of my car. I would assume it would be the same for the GT350. I love having a naturally aspirated engine, but wish I could get more power out of it for cheaper, as factory turbocharged cars can. Also, with a turbo car, at higher elevations, you don't lose as much power as n/a cars do. So there are so many more benefits, as I've explained, at having a turbo'd car. Yes, there are benefits to a n/a car, but IMO not as much.
+Jason “BimmM3” S 400 is the maximum u can get safely(durability wise) out of a 2.3 so i don't see y you want to mod.. the engine. So Gt350 has a much higher scope, unless its not your daily driver and some crazy project car I would rather point out RS's road dynamics(not just its AWD) over GT350 for proper justification
aditya ramesh Very true. The road dynamics will probably be better in the RS, but you will need to make some internal modifications and/or upgrade the turbo, to get in the mid 400 hp range. Still though, I bet a RS with 400+hp will feel as quick, if not quicker than the GT350. If only the RS sounded like the GT350...
Terry Faugno So true. Not only will the cops hear you in the GT350 a mile away, but to get all that performance on a regular street road will be hard if not impossible to achieve. I believe the Ford Fusion is in the same class as the ATS, but I do wish too that they made different engines to go in the Fusion. I would never buy one, but it might be smart for Ford to do that.
Wow, I knew the Focus RS was special, and, came from a storied history of great cars from the past, but, the effort, the pressure, the constant focus towards production was really impressive. What I really enjoyed was 'meeting' the players- actual car guys- who made it happen. Raj Nair's wanting the 'burbles & pops'- even though the engineer in him KNEW it was wrong- is a perfect example of getting it just right. So many people, all over the globe, working together to create this unique vehicle- extremely rewarding & valuable work. Who knew that ANY car company could create and deliver such incredible performance for $36,000.00 Sure, it really isn't a Focus, because, those are compact cars competing in the global marketplace for much less money... I take that back- it IS a Focus! Conversely, find me a competitive product at only twice the price. No mere 3 series BMW, or, Mercedes can do it- and, thier tuner divisions start at 3 times the money. Hey, I love (lust?) after some of them too, but, if anything happens to the RS- there is a dealer within 30 miles, who has access to the same engineers we watched in this 8 part series. Go Ford! What a halo effect for all the other Foci around. How many millions in parts will be sold to get splitters, wings & skirts, let alone headlight assemblies, tail lights & diffusers? Both ST products are truly winners- great in thier own right. But, these are the new hot rod king- I don't even know what can beat 'em under 100 grand? I'm glad I watched all of the reviews before watching this 8 part series- I appreciate the level of detail needed to 'get it right' more clearly. Well done Ford.
Thats a great idea, Ford should totally do it. But on the other hand they dont want to release a whole lot of info about the GT so their competition doesn't know what they are gonna be facing at LeMans next year.
+damagecase13 mmm... educational. All models of car are promoted, so that term is too broad here. This is about establishing a class-- domestic hatchbacks that perform like a Porsche. That's why the Mustang GT only needs to be promoted. No education required.
+damagecase13 I don't think I am. The question was-- why isn't this done for the Mustang GT. I'm suggesting that this extra effort is to educate people about a class of car that may be new to them.
Just bought a 2015 Focus SE. I was going to get an ST but going from a Fusion I didn't know if I would like the size difference as I'm 6'4. After about a month with the Focus I'm in love. Even for a stock model in terms of performance I'm shocked. I bought it brand new, drove off the lot with 13 miles on it. I'm going to keep the miles low and once these hit the market I'm trading it in for one. To anyone who thinks they are too small for this car them self, take it from a guy who's 6'4 and loving every moment of the car.
I spoke to someone at the Ford booth at the Houston Autorama and he told me that RS's when you order it, will be scheduled for shipment when the next one comes in. "The first shipment will be very limited", he told me. And that there will be more shipments depending on how it sells. So it will be extremely limited for about half a year until more get shipped in.
It would have been very cool to had been one of these filmmakers and be up close with the development of the First Global RS and around Raj, Tyrone and their whole Development team. Great show guys and great car ... Can't wait. :)
All I can say is Respect to Raj and the team. Great to see that the guy in charge is a driver and he put his foot down and made the team make it right. I do hope there is a mode to reduce pops and burbles. I can live without that. I would trade in my amazing 2012 ISF for this...not a GTR but it may be enough to make me happy.
I like this car so much and I haven't even driven it. I really wish the interior looked apart from the ST and with a different look..not very keen with it but I think with the amount of performance this car will offer is enough.
I. Can't. Wait. Please Ford, tell me you've actually listened to Ken Block and Ford enthusiasts and put some power in this car. Please don't have made the engine take 2 weeks to respond to throttle pressure. And please don't have added too much weight. This car 'SHOULD' be awesome.
As an owner of an Evo XRS, I shall be purchasing myself one of these as a replacement. It's about time Ford woke up from the FWD nightmare it's been producing
I love what Ford is doing. I have a 2015 ST and just adore the car. it's about time Ford started taking care of its US supporters. With Both the ST's and now with the RS, they've made up for their big mistakes.
This is awesome. I enjoyed the series. Decision time....GT350 or RS??? My husband and I have always ordered our Stangs and this will be no different. This choice is going to be fun....possibly both????
Great video series - fascinating insight into the development and in particular focus on the engine robustness. Wish more manufacturers did this type of video. Interesting they had a number of competitor cars there. Few things. They should have done a 3 door, stayed with the 5 cylinder and introduced a double clutch gearbox. The manual gear box is a big surprise, maybe Ford will bring in a double clutch in future? The styling should have been more restrained but then l guess that would not be in keeping with the RS. Compared to the RS3 and upcoming TT-RS this appears to be a bit of a bargain.
My 2002 SVT Focus has a bad 02 sensor and the computer runs it rich by default, the pops and burbles make me hesitant to fix it lol. On the other hand the stalling and erratic idle makes it necessary :>(.
+Ian Pitts Not exactly the same. The production one will be plastic ended on both sides, like normal oem parts. There are images of it on internet now.
pokest225 Interesting. I guess it will be lighter with the plastic end tanks and with less metal in the core it will recover from heat soak more quickly (but will soak quicker as well).
+Ian Pitts and also won't hold up to added boost if anyone intends on increasing the performance... So that will need to be an upgraded item which is not a big deal, just something to keep in mind that's all.
So are the seats no longer racing buckets but the same ones as in the ST? (As it looks that way from chapter 7 to 8 video) Cause that is a shame, Will we be able to order the correct seats for this car?
They should have a pop free version that gets better milage and to attract less attention. Maybe a setting to have pops when you want as it seems this is just an ECU setting? I've been pulled over just for a loud (but still legal when pulled) acceleration where the officer though I was speeding.
the pops and burbles will only be for sport mode and above. if you wanted to get rid of them too, to blend in or for fuel efficiency while driving fast, im sure there will be an aftermarket tune for the ECU.
The video is awesome. but I think even if in the final test drive, Raj found any issue, he would still sign off the project, otherwise the production of the car will be impacted. That would be a more serious problem.
Actually, Raj would have not signed off on it. A handful of fords and Lincolns have been pushed out several months from original production date. Glad they didn't push to much on this.
+Eoghan Hennessy not selling.i don't like the new body style at all.i don't like the black wheels,I love my large fog lights in the grill, the cars just nice. maybe after the first few years of the new body style, but no time soon.
Wow, this car is SWEET! I love my 3.5 TT EcoBoost F150 FX2 Sport but I NEED this car lol. On another note, has anyone seen the new 2017 Lincoln MKZ? 3.0 TT EcoBoost with 400hp and 400tq AND AWD... O.O
If anybody is in San Diego stop by El Cajon Ford. We ordered 4 of these one of each avialable color. The nitrous blue wont be available since im buying it so the available one are a Shadow Black, White and Grey. The Black and White come fully loaded with everything available except the accesories such as the trunk bags and such. The Grey has the RS2 package and Track tires as extras and thats it. Contact our internet department for more info. They will be expected in early to mid Spring. We also have a GT350 R and a 350 coming in on the 22nd of this month if intrested.
+Robert “Andy” Morales Are you allowing test drives on the RS and GT350's? North county SD dealerships are not allowing test drives, hence why I'm not interested in buying from them.
+Jason “BimmM3” S Test Drives will be allowed only after the fact that we approve your credit and you deem yourself as a possible buyer. As of now we have an offer on the GT350R which will be in Race Red which stands at 71k and a 64k offer on the regular GT350. We run your credit and check if you are capable of making the payments to not waist out time as im sure you will understand and also because most buyers will want the car to have under 5mile. We once had someone who was willing to buy our Limited Edition 2015 Mustang in Kona Blue which was #114 out of the 1968 and after the test drive he offered only 40k when the last highest offer was 58k. The Ford Focus on the other hand will probaly only require to run your credit.
Andrew Ok thank you. Well, as of right now, the GT350 offers are just a tad out of what I want to spend on a car, but I would love to at least come check it out. Will you allow me to touch and sit inside it? The other dealerships I mentioned are not allowing that. The Focus RS is the car I really am ready to buy, but I know they aren't available yet. If the GT350 is something that I really like, which I won't be able to discern unless I get a feel for it, then I would consider buying one, but after the swarm of offers come and go. Though it is a highly anticipated car, it's not worth over $60k to me for the base model. I fully understand why you would not allow test drives on the GT350, unless you determine if one is eligible and ready to buy.
+Dalton Hanke I don´t think so. The Golf is more expensive (at least in my region), is less powerful, has less brakes, no DCC as standard, is not as track focused as the RS.... But maybe is more comfortable, better finished, and definitely the DSG has it´s advantages, but is also optional at a high cost. The Golf looks like the sensible option, but it´s more expensive. The Focus looks like it´s a more fun car to drive in all environments.
They're practically the same price.. keep in mind options with the focus as the R comes basically fully loaded from the factory.. You're acting as if the R is 50k.
+Dalton Hanke Where I live, the R costs 40k euro. Without options, base car. The Rs comes as standard with electronic dampers, brembo brakes, recaro seats, 50hp more, and that's the base car. Can be purchased at less than Golf's base price.
+Dalton Hanke High taxes here. Based on engine size, and polution levels. An ecoboost mustang is 36k here. And the gt is 42k. The st is 32k. That's Europe.
+pokest225 I second this sentiment, it is quite bad that we pay more for the same plus more for the fuel.. I really want a Mustang GT or GT350 but the fuel consumption of those makes them totally impractical for everyday use. The RS seems to be the logical solution for an enthusiast who has only one car. I owned a Fiesta ST recently and compared it to the GTI golf and after driving both I decided that the GTI was boring. I suspect to feel the same fun factor with the RS as with the FiST, and I would not even compare it to the R. I am just not a Golf guy.. Bottom line: test both and go for the one which "speaks" to you.
Sad to see this series end. Congrats to the Ford Performance team for hitting their goals on time and creating what is sure to be one of the greatest, if not the greatest, production hatches ever made.
I wish car companies did more of these video series. It was awesome and I can't wait to get an RS in my garage!
Oh snap my man Raj with the smooth downshifts! Nice!
What a fantastic piece of Engineering product. The team has done a terrific job and kudos to the little guy, Raj. He's really the VP Ford needs, the last man standing. Awesome! Congrats to the team and Ford for making another beast!
Great series now can you do one for the Fiesta RS?
I had no idea you all did this much work in this vehicle. I take back all the negative things I have said about ecoboost.
Well done.
The RS is back and a great looking car well done Ford
I Love this car, perfect to hoon the family around and have lots of fun on the twisty roads and the track :)
Congratulations Ford !! You did everything I was hoping for. AWD and your bringing it to the states.Cant wait to get one.
Great series and the car is worth every penny.
We Got are Pop's & Burbles :)
+MrAtvfan be cool if they did a side by side noise test of before and after getting the pops and burbles to see the difference
Well done, well done for giving the public what they need. Now it's time for me to go and test drive one.

semplicemente fantastica!!
Does someone has some money left for me? Haha great job once again Ford :)
thanks for still having it in 6 manual speeder..!!
I received my vin from the dealer, how do I find out the build week?
So how many are actually going to be released for this model year?
Great. Now let me buy one
Beginning to wish I chose nitrous Blue instead of Shadow Black!!! :(
+Josh Gardiner nah black is cool man
+touge410 I want that gloss gray color. Sick
how much is the car
+RetroGamer 97 around 30k uk around 38k US base models
I went for magnetic gray. just wasn't 100% happy with the shade of blue.
Can't wait to get my hands one one!! :D
GO, FORD!!!
lookwise nothing beats the 09-11 green focus rs
aweeesome!! seems perfect!
Some segments in the video are stamped not adjacent to each other
Congrats!!!!!!!!
My 2002 SVT Focus has a bad 02 sensor and the computer runs it rich by default, the pops and burbles make me hesitant to fix it lol. On the other hand the stalling and erratic idle makes it necessary :>(.
okay i want it!
amazing car i love what ford is doing...... but i still want my 3rd gen lightning lol
@4:27 is that really the intercooler they're going to production with? Very nice.
(As it looks that way from chapter 7 to 8 video) Cause that is a shame, Will we be able to order the correct seats for this car?
the racing style bucket seats won't be coming to the U.S. They will be available everywhere else.
I wonder how many people will write these cars off showing their friends the drift mode when they have no idea how to drift 😂
How about bring back the 5 cylinder engine???
+MikeVonDoom maybe in the RS500 version
The video is awesome.
but I think even if in the final test drive, Raj found any issue, he would still sign off the project, otherwise the production of the car will be impacted. That would be a more serious problem.
Actually, Raj would have not signed off on it. A handful of fords and Lincolns have been pushed out several months from original production date. Glad they didn't push to much on this.
I LOVE MY RSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!
Is the seat back really that big ? Raj looks small on it
wait... so did they remove pops and burbles or add them?
+Eoghan Hennessy ... added them for character
Added the pops and burbles
+Eoghan Hennessy they added characteristic pops and burbles
+Eoghan Hennessy they added them, but is should be optional imo. Personally i'd like not to have them.
+PocketDrummer exactly what i was thinking.
Raj Nair, I pickup my RS in May-June, if it doesn't live up to MY expectations I'm writing you a nasty-gram letter.
yea focus!!
Supercharged Coyote V-8 RWD version next, please.
Why are the Recaros different in this episode? Which style will it come with?
+Gabesafish Similar to the ST ones as standard. Optional bucket seats without airbags.
+pokest225 Depends on where you live. I am pretty sure the US is not getting the Bucket seats due to safety regulations. It makes me very sad :(
it would be nice to be able to turn off the Pops and Burbles too.
Sometimes i just want to blend in.
Sometimes that requires hefty down-shifting.
whats that rattle at 3:10 ? Bad gear change?
+storiesaboutnothing Perhaps it's some of that burble while he's blipping the throttle and rev-matching...
+storiesaboutnothing could be the fancy diff doing it's thing.
I wish my 14 mustang GT was this color. 👍
+09victoryrc You also wish your 2014 Mustang was this cool haha
+Jason “BimmM3” S IL smoke it. 😁
+09victoryrc 2014 is the last true muscle mustang... dont sell it
+Eoghan Hennessy not selling.i don't like the new body style at all.i don't like the black wheels,I love my large fog lights in the grill, the cars just nice. maybe after the first few years of the new body style, but no time soon.
It'd be nice if they would offer it in the Philippine market...
Nooo now it ended. I wish I had one
+Jason “BimmM3” S Im sure sitting in the GT350s would not be a problem.
Andrew Any idea of when on the 22nd the GT350's will be there?
please hurry and build mine 😣
Now increase the production numbers so the dealers don't ask for a 5k markup or bidding who will pay the highest.
finallyyyyy
this will be my new car, going home alone from work with an auto is just boring.
Is the RS coming to the U.S ?
+Saul Sosa Global car. So, yes.
+pokest225 nice!!!
Anyone else feels kinda sad that this is not available also as wagon/combi/estate?
How tall is raj....the seat looks weird with him in it
Super travaux
It would be great if it had option for 100% RWD, so you could make donuts and burnouts :)
MAH BAE
RELEASE THE KRAKEN!!!!!!!!!!
Too bad Ford didn't do this years ago. Better late than never. :-) I still enjoy my 01 ZX3.
now lets hope mazda makes a mazdaspeed3 AWD
Can't wait till this competes against the Golf R... I'm thinking it'll be close but the R should win.
Great job on this car, now just going to let the first year come out and have the problems it's going to have and then buy a subsequent year.
+Giuseppe Cracolici And hopefully they come out with more colors
