How do you rate him compared to Bubka? Bubka broke more barriers but Duplantis have already broken one (6.20), been just as dominant and is steadily closing in on Bubkas medal totals despite having plenty of years to come. I'm a Swede so obviously biased but curious what others think outside of Ukraine and Sweden 😅
When you read history always remember that it’s like watching this highlight video that gives a factual but also personal view of the day. Some people had a bad day and has been highlighted, some other won a gold medal but it’s not being shown like it wasn’t something to highlight.

Duplantis is a smart guy. He could have made his record jump on the first try but he knocked the bar down with his arms. Tension builds . He has a second attempt and again, knocks it down with his arms. He's well clear of it but knocks it down anyway. He's not ready to make it yet, he wants a hero's moment. He jumps a third time, almost hits the bar with his hands again -- and then lifts them out of the way at the last moment as he could have done for either of the first two attempts, breaking the record, getting paid and making headlines with the most dramatic version of the jump. He knew exactly what he was doing, and by clearing the bar by over 10cm all three times, shoeed that he's savijg the next world record for another day, where he will get paid and get headlines once again.
