@@Bduboutdoors definitely depends on condition. It the hot dry weather it is very reliable and practical ( fire plow ). Can be considered a bit more difficult but once you understand what your doing it comes easy Hand drill success can be achieved in lots of different conditions for success with hand drill use easy starting material u will see lots of people and combinations. Adjust from there. Fire plow is also easy once you find the material in your area. Here I’m using hardwood big leaf maple water shoots.
@@Bduboutdoors but yeah if you wanted to attempt the fireplow I think I put out a video or two where I explained how you have you decrease and then increase angle 📐 very slightly. Or some woods you must keep low angle if you’re wood characteristics are soft use same wood

I’ve not really pushed myself to work on fire plow yet, I’ve just been honing in on hand drill and using different materials, but I think it is important to know different methods. So this is one I think I need to learn. (I’ve Tried fire plow only a handful of times). Just curious do you think oak on oak will work for fire plow. I’ve used oak multiple times with bow drill and have a lot of oak around my house. I’ve got access to other wood just wanted your opinion.
@@Bduboutdoors maybe not oak but try a weedie looking tree that grows a lot like. Soft maples. Maybe 🤔 sumac. Or ceader. What kind water based wood do you have maybe willow but when practicing Watch dust control course dust can make it difficult to to get the ember Were are you

Assuming you have great materials in both conditions, do you think fire plow or hand drill is more difficult?
