เรื่องของสงกรานต์
หนึ่ง สงกรานต์เป็นคำมาจากภาษาสันสกฤตอินเดีย เข้ามาในเอเซียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้กับอุษาคเนย์สองทางคือทางโหราศาสตร์ และอีกทางนึงคือทางด้านศิลปวัฒนธรรม
สอง วันขึ้นสงกรานต์เป็นช่วงการเปลี่ยนแปลงขึ้นราศีใหม่เข้าฤดูร้อน ในทางดาราศาสตร์คือจุดตัดระหว่างเส้นวงโคจรของโลกกับเส้นเมอริเดียน จากจุดตัดที่เส้นวงโคจรรอบโลกอยู่เหนือเส้นเมอริเดียนเราเรียกว่า ปัดเหนือ เข้าสู่ฤดูร้อน หากจุดตัดระหว่างเส้นวงโคจรรอบโลกอยู่ใต้เส้นเมอริเดียนเราเรียกว่า ปัดใต้
เข้าสู่ฤดูหนาว
สาม ช่วงวันสงกรานต์ไทยคือระหว่างวันที่ 12 เมษายน จนถึงวันที่ 15 เมษายน ในทางการประเทศไทยจะกำหนดไว้ในวันที่ 13 เมษายนของทุกปีเป็นวันสงกรานต์ในปฏิทินและถือว่าเป็นวันขึ้นปีใหม่ของไทย ส่วนในวันที่ 14 เมษายนจะเป็นวันมหาสงกรานต์ในปฏิทิน
สี่ เทศกาลสงกรานต์ในอินเดียจะไม่มีการสาดน้ำกัน
แต่จะเป็นการสาดหรือปาผงสีต่างๆกัน เพื่อเป็นการ
บูชาและสรรเสริญแด่พระผู้เป็นเจ้า ส่วนของไทยแต่เดิมเป็นเพียงแค่การรดน้ำหรือการพรมน้ำกันเท่านั้น
ซึ่งน้ำนั้นอาจจะผสมน้ำอบไทยหรือน้ำที่ลอยดอกมะลิ
ต่อมาก็พัฒนามาเป็นการสาดน้ำกัน และที่ตามมาก็คือการทาหน้าด้วยแป้งดินสอพอง แต่เมื่อมีการละเล่นเลยเถิดไปมากจึงจำเป็นต้องยกเลิกไป
ห้า นอกจากมีการสาดน้ำกันแล้ว ยังมีการเพิ่มประเพณีทางสังคมคือการร่วมทำบุญสรงน้ำพระสงฆ์ที่วัด การทำบุญกระดูกของบรรพบุรุษ การรดน้ำดำหัวผู้สูงอายุหรือคนเฒ่าคนแก่ รวมทั้งให้ช่วงวันสงกรานต์นี้เป็นวันครอบครัวแห่งชาติ
หก นอกจากนี้ยังมีการละเล่นพื้นเมืองตามท้องถิ่นต่างๆ ซึ่งส่วนใหญ่จะเป็นการละเล่นโบราณจากที่บรรพบุรุษเคยเล่นกันมานานจนเป็นประเพณีหนึ่งในวันสงกรานต์สืบต่อกันมาจนปัจจุบัน
