I thought I knew all the Goodies songs, but that Duck one was a new one on me. Still, it only took me 46 years to hear it(!)
I was so obsessed with Olivia's A Little More Love. My mum asked me who it was & what the song was called. I told her it was It gets Me Nowhere by Sandy in Grease. The next day she came home with the single.
Really makes your skin crawl watching Savill with his hands on those young ladies. Didn’t think anything of it back in the day though did we….
🙉🙈🙊
Agree enemy in plain sight
She's not looking delighted!!...
Didn’t think I’d ever see this again given the vile Savile. I’m the guy with the pink bowler hat in the first 3 seconds. I remember it as if it were yesterday. (My daughter now has the hat!).
Pink bowler eh, were you trying to catch Jimmy's eye? 😅
What was it like standing next to Jimmy
Ignore VILE Saville....You looked great 😂 and the music was FAB🎉

I’ve got a sick sense of humour but that was over the line!
@@nibsvkh So you don't really have a sense of humour then....
lovely Olivia, miss her
R.I.P Olivia Luv the Fun Hit The Rumour Never be Forgotten
Priceless unforgettable days. Take me back there please.
Agree does seem a much simpler and gentle time.
Ditto
@@tonymorgan2264 We did not realise it at the time.
Unreliable cars, black and white tv, everything else was brown.
Olivia Newton-John 😊
😭
45 years ago anniversary tomorrow night I was watching this with my dad! Thursday, 7 December 1978!
It wasn't until I helped my wife put on a school production of Grease that I actually realised what the lyrics to Grease Lightin actually were...very different times.....
I had that haysi fantaysi hit "John Wayne is big leggy" in my recommended, who would've thought it lol..now I'm off to Google greased lightening, ( I was always rubbish at catching the lyrics) 😁
This was performed at my kid's junior school play once, unedited. Can't believe how they got away with it lol
@@bhamacukThey be cancelled quicker than one could say ( in person this is my best impression of someone(!), sadly ( eh, should l say this?)), ' Showaddywaddy'.
@@bhamacukI suppose they wouldn’t quite understand the meaning of a “pussy wagon” !
@ianbishop For a moment there I thought you were going to say 'helped my wife put on a school uniform'
The Records with drummer Will Birch from the Kursaal Flyers backing Rachel Sweet! Poptastic!
RIP John Wicks😢
Gerard Kenny (New York, New York)also wrote the music to "I could be so good for you" with Dennis Waterman. FACT!
In the City of light on a Rag time night, it's something more than free ❤
Olivia Newton JOHN
People were so much thinner in those days
Apart from Rachel Sweet ( real name? Surely not?) . Now I'm fat shaming ,probably..OK , I think the lady's a gordita
Even the pedophiles.
And no hideous tattoos.
Lol, such was the innocent, bubblegum image of Grease, the sheer naughtiness of some of the lyrics apparently flew right by the censors unnoticed : )
Wow Rachel Sweet B.A.B.Y And Dollar
Backing band: The Records
Great up load. I think the audience were practicing for the zombie movie audition
That Muppet was praying on little kids.
Didn't know he was religious, huh.
@@stephenhowell5611 Unluckily for him, he burns in hell.
Every song makes Me smile....
Great happy Music ❤
@12:37 Girl to Jimmy: "Control yourself, creep."
Holy crap. Rachel Sweet backed by The Records. Rare footage indeed!
Gee wow! Only just at high school at the time, loved mid to late 70s period ❤❤❤❤ I luv music from 30s to 50s, dads influenced me. But this late 70s thing I was growing up with was great, the disco, rock n roll revival, punk new wave along the way. Something for everyone. ❤❤❤❤ PS. I'm female a little bit older, never ever sport a platinum blonde hairdo with glasses. SAVILE CHIC IS NOT THE WAY TO GO! I LEARNED SINCE!! Slightly different now ❤❤❤❤ Enjoy the nostalgia anyway.
I'm surprised that auntie beeb let John Travolta's "Shit" and "Tit" from Greased lighting slip through!
Such a shame my childhood memories have been tainted by Jimmy Saville, Rolf Harris and Dave Lee Travis . The Grease soundtrack Album was released this year but my Sister was still playing it regularly way into the 1980’s
& Noel Edmonds - owner of both a small red box & a large chopper.
And glenis kinnock
So long time ago great memories its 2023 do i mis this
shooting star wasnt released in australia until june 1979 and lay your love on me by racy three months later
That New York New York by Gerard Kenny got loads of air play even though it was only a very minor a hit. For some reason, the DJs or the compilers of the playlist seemed to love it.
That great song still get played loads on the radio in England.
Rachel sweet now a tv producer in usa❤
I remember there was a huge buzz about her in the UK at this time .This live version of B A B Y doesn't really do the actual 45 single justice . ,It should have been a big hit and she should have had much more commercial success and acclaim . ( I have the song on one of her CDs & still play it to this day. )
It knocks me sick looking at that creep now, knowing what we know about him. MONSTER
Thank you so much Marfun for these fantastic and SUPERLATIVE TOTP uploads of AMAZING picture and audio quality ...you are really skillful and talented in doing this , I for one am truly appreciative.
Thank you!
Olivia is very talented ❤
was.

Loved this show Now then, Now then , big cigar, sovereign rings now then and great music TOTP's was great 🙂 and still is 👍
Blimey, Rachel sweet, I saw her live 1 month before this at Huddersfield poly Stiff records tour.
Dollar was brilliant, and a brilliant backing band.
You sure?
what a taste in music you have
Backing band seemed a bit underwhelmed to me .
Jimmy Saville had the hair of an abused Barbie doll, the eyes of Marty Feldman, and the personality of a deranged clown, yet people loved him. Hard to understand.
Because they were hypnotized by his evilness the vile creature
That's such an amusing and accurate description of the monster!!
i didnt liked his show never liked him when i was a kid he freaked me out
Did nobody vet the lyrics to greased lightning? Lol. This would have gone out at 7.30 on a Thursday night. Also Olivia's trousers were a bit tight....
This whole episode should've been X rated.
Even Rachel Sweet was saucy AF.
Racey. Hated that record at the time but those dancers. She picked him up without a grimace. Strong girl.
Sue from Legs & Co . Very accomplished dancer .
Probably helps that he’s about four feet tall.
"Will a little more love bring a Happy Ending".. no, but it'll make me walk funny for the next few days.
I was 14 then so would've been perfectly safe in the audience. Far too old.
Why didn’t the believe Johnny Lydon when he told the truth about that beast ??
Because the BBC kept it quiet and I'm sure there many other pedophiles working for the BBC still.
So YMCA was-the 70s version of Relax.
@16:52 Dollar, she sings ``And they`ll be dancin in the moonlight... I wonder if thats the same moonlight the two of them were asking each other who were they with in it?
David van Day came across as a twat then and he didn't get any better.
A clever comment. You know your dollar songs. They were a very melodious double act that couldn't be repeated. Pity David went on to become a grumpy man. Very vain too. However as a group Dollar were in my opinion simply brilliant.
@@neilhilton35 Agreed, especially the Trevor Horn tunes.
I am surprised the BBC didn't edit 'tit' and 'shit' on Greased Lightnin'
Or "she's a real pussy wagon"....or "the chicks'll cream for greased lightnin"!
No, they preferred to make the Boomtown Rats change their lyrics from 'pus and grime' to 'blood and tears pour down the drains and the sewers'. Tits and pussy wagon were OK in 1978. Different times
Maybe the censors didn’t understand “the chicks’ll cream” !
Right. There's a lot they DID edit those years though, from what I've heard, because the public wasn't supposed to know🤫
@markl8740 as a 10-year-old kid at the time, I too noticed the lyric change on "Rat Trap" when my mother bought me the single compared to the version played on Radio 1's chart show. That said station chopped the hell out of it's 5-minute running time
Oh dear 😂😂
Omg it's that fella who used to do the show on Saturday evening where he helped the kids. Aww i loved him.
what you mean the pedophile jimmy savile........ he has the word evil in his name........
Sarcasm?? Lol! 👹
It's the 7th December 2023 a Thursday 01.30
What was tune that opened the show the one the opened the countdown any ideas 😊
We want Jimmy we want Jimmy
simp
Sir Jim! 👍👍
.,....To go straight to hell, yes!
Bloody pollock, you are!!!!!
Oh dear, what was that drivel at the end? So glad such 'novelty' records died a death!
The reason stuff like that was on totp was because it was in the charts, people were buying it.
"You'll get a nasty suck, if you muck around with his duck".
racey needed a new wardrobe manager
People were dying in the streets..
As ever TOTP picks the worst singles to showcase.
The goodies who actually bought that record at woolies. 🤔
It got so bad the people rebelled. The effing goodies ffs
Thank god for punk/new wave.
Punk had pretty much come and gone by this stage though
Wish they would cut the bit out with Savile!
Please tell me the name of the band and song that is playing first.
12:33 what did he say? and She doesn't look very impressed
He said: I have here a present that can be claimed by any male hospital worker (probably refering to himself as he did visit hospitals quite frequently). How about some Olivia Newton John
Hiding in plain sight. What an animal
A great episode spoiled at the end by that garbage. And, of course, the monster.
Are you joking?
The whole episode was filth and depravity. 😂
Racey should have been bigger the The Beatles.
Racey should have been arrested.
Oh the years are rolled back to a time before the horror of Thatcher ... If only we knew then what was around the corner.
And of course Thatcher's big mate, Jimmy Savile, the man who she helped get the keys to hospitals full of vulnerable patients.
Exactly!! Two monsters together. Add in ol' Charlie and you have the axis of evil. 💯👹👹👹
Cry me a river hughesy 😂😂😂
Why has he got the Leeds United sweat band on his right hand didn't even support us
who did he support?
Man Utd
Figures for a guy from Leeds.@@otters61
Red army
Now then now then
Yet again the crap to excellence ratio is 10 to 1.
Is that first singer Tina Charles
No it's Rachel Sweet
Don't you love Jimmy
No
Are you speaking from the personal experience of your younger self?
I would prefer if Jimmy Savile didnt appear on my feed.
I think People should see history as it was not how people today chose how it should look
Good music , shame about the Nonce
Fu**ing Disco.
Saville 🤮
That Sally Oldfield song is horrible... just sayin'.
They had a load of crap on these show’s. The presenters were puppets for the BBC, they were very annoying.
Fiddler alert!
I thought they destroyed all the ones with JS
