Two videos in less than 24 hours? Hell yeah!
Yessir!!
Thank you for being here. Glad you enjoyed it
Cute little engine + cute cats = great video.
Note: Fan Containment is an engine certification requirement. We do a “blade out” test (among so many others). Lots of videos out there if anyone wants to see it in action.
There’s a great one with GE where they explode a blade while running in slow motion. It’s incredible to see
did you pay attention to the Torques? Did you safetywire all up? And most important: Where did you put in the Skydrol? 🤣
😂 I got that calibrated elbow . Click click 🤣
🤣
Reverse the polarity of your battery case. It will turn in the correct direction.
I’ll try that. Thank you
I was about to say the same thing, just change the red and black wire
That's the beautifull thing about brushed motors :)
This is a neat little idea. "Stig Projects". Maybe you should do more engine models in the future. Or aircraft models. It should be fun!
I definitely would like to do more of this.
Nice model, family business was a model shop for over 45 yrs,. Going to need to redecorate though after the bird strike test with no containment shroud..🤔🤭😲🤣🇬🇧
😅 I see what you did there
Stig, I looked at this and thought “oh crap what if he can’t build it?” As usual you came through. One thing I learned about modeling. Don’t sniff the glue.
That’s like saying don’t smell the jet fuel 😂.
I wonder if there's a GE90x version 🤔 😊
Not yet. But I’m sure there will be
Damn it Sig you are making me blush 2 videos back to back???
Busy week. I’m spoiling you all 😅
Stig needs his own workbench/playstation!
Definitely do. In much need of one
I have the same problem in my garage. 3 trucks and one bike. No room for a bench.
I've always wondered if mechanics had models of components as us pilots have of the aircraft we fly.
Very many of them
It feels wrong to be this early. First hahaha! Keep up the great vids Stig!
Cheers 🤙
Swap the batteries around or change the polarity of the connector (red to black and black to red). It's just a simple DC motor so that should change the direction
Yup. I think shat should do it
running backwards would drive me nuts, i hope real engine manufactures don't have extra bits left over🤪
Don’t worry. In real like it’s not like a VW 🤣🤣🤣
I just got the notification and thought you genuinely built a literal plane engine😂
Still.. cool overall❤❤❤
I’ll get there someday 😅. Thank you for watching
Too many parts
My adhd is acting up😂
My was through the roof 🤣🤣🤣
@@StigAviation 😂
🤣
Hi Stig, Got a interview in a MRO, any tips??
I’m a A&P working at a MRO. The biggest pice of advice I can give you is don’t act like you know everything. The best part of working at a MRO is being able to learn in depth about a aircrafts system and a lot of hands on experience. Also if you are new to the industry if they ask about ATA codes and CFR parts just say Im still learning them but I’m a quick study. Good luck on your interview and welcome to the best industry in the world.
Well first i would say congratulations on the interview and secondly dress for success. Look your best. Be confident but not cocky. Just answer honestly and give the the knowledge you have and present a positive attitude
When do you have the time for this? It always seams like you are working so much taking night shift after night shift … love your work!!❤
I just make time when I’m on my days off. Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for watching
12:00 the F135-400/600 Low Bypass Afterburning Turbofan engine with over 40,000 LBS of thrust (can’t give exact numbers due to confidentiality) is another engine that has counter-rotating compressors, it has to do a lot with balance iirc bc if you ever get the chance to see an F35 start up, not only do you feel that crazy vibration in your chest, you can see the jet moving from all the engine vibration bc it’s still starting lol, it’s quite cool
I never thought about it before, but airplane engines trying to jump out of their airplanes does make sense considering I’ve seen hot rods try to twist themselves apart
Very interesting. Thank you. I learned something new
Trent 900 engines are used to power the A380.
If anyone's wondering.
You are correct my friend
I 3d printed it myself and put it together. took me a long time but fun to put together
Is there a site with free stl's for this engine?
@@pauly540 Search for "BambuLab Jet Engine," there is a complete kit of parts (minus the DC motor) and a link to all STL's. I've printed and built one myself and it is a BIG model!
I might have to get me a 3D printer too. Looks like fun
Interesting video for sure. You also gotta appreciate that Eastern model in the backround.
Ohh ya. That’s my 727 eastern. She’s a beauty
I've been actually looking and wanting to buy one myself too. I've noticed also regarding the scams too on some sites. Would like to see them make other engines like a GE90. Very cool Stig!👊🏻👍🏻
GE90 would be a beautiful addition
Nice. A bonus Stig adventure, with inspector-cat
Glad you enjoyed it.
13:57 Depending on the type of the electric motor they include in the set, if it's a DC motor (should be since it connects directly to the batteries), changing the polarity can make it spin in the other direction. Usually works with repurposed PC fans, not sure here
I’ll definitely try that
Beautiful model! I might get it for myself at Christmas! Good work to your Kitties supervising too, they did an excellent job! Does American Airlines have a Bring Your Pets to Work Day? I'm just kidding... 😂
Great video Stig! Look forward to your next adventure!
Thank you very much! And the cats were definitely micromanaging me 😂
Funny how all cats like too investigate a box on the floor🐈😊
Cats and box’s have some universal connection 😆
Ok. Q C has just determined this engine not acceptable. You need to go back and safety wire every last nut n bolt. Then report back. LOL.
Great kit, nice job on the assembly.
😅 I don’t think I can find safety wire small enough for that thing 😂
@@StigAviation No safety wire? Way to make AgentJayZ mad 😅
What the hell is wrong witubthe rest of the video
Nothing. I messed up editing it. It’s only 15 minutes long.
5:27 looks like your fury engine specialist is coming to check your work and sign off on it!.
My inspectors 😅
Rolls Royce loved to use the triple spool going back to the RB211.
Indeed they did. Amazing design
@@StigAviation Amazing sound, especially at take-off.
Love when we get more videos
Glad I was able to put it out early
That is a lovely jet engine model Stig, I also love that it rotates. And don't worry about the counter-rotation, it gives it character. Propeller driven aircraft need counter rotating blades, but even more so helicopters. Commercial jets don't really need counter-rotating jet engines as you know. Again, I love the detail of that model you put together, I think your supervisor approves, as do I. It honestly reminds me of the ones they have in aircraft museums you've attended, or perhaps a fancy flight school.
You’re right. The museum has a engine cut away just like this
Yes! BONUS 🙌😃
Fun 🤙
Great video. When I was a youngin I built a working V8 engine. And didn’t know you are a cat guy. Me too. They love poking around boxes.
Many thanks and yes indeed my little furry friends are awesome.
I spy an Eastern 727 in the background... I worked for Eastern up till 1989, still miss it
You got sharp eyes my friend, Yep that is a eastern 727, now I never work for eastern but I did work on many 727s in my career
Looks like the battery box or the motor have the insulation switched around, as sometimes happens with cheap things from China.
Yup I think your right
Cool project Stig 🤙!! Those cat supervisors are tough to work for! Always sticking their nose into things!
😅 and stealing parts too 🤣
We're changing and engine next week(time based). Also what your cat's name🙂
Have fun with the engine change. Cats name is Zoro
That’s AWESOME! I’m gonna need to get one too!
Have fun with it.
Stig your wheel and tire change video made it onto my Snapchat for you page!
😅 how did it get there. I don’t even have Snapchat 🤣
hey stig, where'd you get the 747 fan blade from?
It was a gift. You can find them on eBay
Try to connect other way around the batteryes....it is only a dc motor..
Will give that a try. Thank you
Cat supervisor 😂 nice engine though
They didn’t even let me have a break time 🤣
Oh ya. Cool 747 fan blade you got there.👍🏻
That’s my pride and joy. Love that blade
@@StigAviation I would love to have a 777 fan blade.
That's a beautiful model engine kit. I would have enjoyed assembling it when my eyesight was better, and I was able to build things with small parts 😢
What does the tall blade do? Is it just decorative (ie: part of the stand)? It would be great if there is/was a light behind it. Thanks Stig, as always, your videos are interesting - and entertaining 👍
Glad you enjoyed it. And the tall blade is a an actual fan blade from a CF6 engine that came off a B747.
@@StigAviation A real fan blade? How awesome is that?! Thank you, Stig. You're the best 👍
That was way too cool!! Ummmm who said Stig has butter fingers?! 😂
Pretty cute supervisors!! 😹
Butter fingers for sure 😆
@@StigAviation 😂 too funny! 😹 Yeah, i can’t see you as butter fingers.
Awesome video!!
Glad to see I’m not the only one that has parts left over after my builds😂
😂 like a VW
Nice Stig, btw can i send my RC A380? It needs oil, tyer change and 2 lights are out, it is AOG😂😂😂
Send it. I got the tools. I’ll get it done 😅
When I think about seeing you low on the ground change a tyre 😂😂😂
First
🥇
Two for one hell yea
🤙🤙🤙
Reminds me of the Visible V8. I think it’s still being made
Pretty cool right
Great job with the build there Stig, I build a lot of kits and this one looks fun well done my friend 👍
Thank you. It was fun
So cool!! I might have to get one of these to build with my grandson. Thank you for sharing.
That would be good quality time for you guys
Yo Stig do you still have a good picture of that McLaren P1 because I have a new phone with storage now so I can download Instagram again
I think I got it to you now. 👌
@@StigAviation yeah that was me Stig thank you
It’s already my background on my phone literally every video I get a new background😂
I’m a A&P and on my time off I build model aircrafts for fun. I use all the same tools that I use at my work. My dad always laughs at me and says where is your tech data and that’s not approved data from the manufacturer.
Dads always giving us hard time 😅.
I had to start to 3d Print those functiona Models, but it takes much time! :D
I’m looking into getting one too. Looks like fun
@@StigAviation If you wont work around and only want to print, the Bambu Labs P1S is that Thing! Tried a few Printer, but that one is the best in my opinion. :=)
When I was flying RC I built a 5’ wing span trainer on the floor. I used book shelves for the wings. My trainer buddy was shocked how straight & true it flew all trims were centered. Needless to say I was shocked too! Just needed room of course for allowing glue to dry on the spars. They make scale model jet engines now but you wouldn’t want that smell in your apartment.
I can imagine
I've seen that kit. It looks cool.
Definitely a nice one
Good going Stig knowing your experiences you probably didn't even need the directions good job 👍🤙
Thank you for the vote of confidence my friend
It spins the wrong way!!!! 😂
I had the wiring backwards, 🤣🤣🤣
OMG!!! Ordering one right now..
It’s pretty nice
Nice model, there's always something really cool about turbine engines!
Just a beautiful design 👌
Reverse the batteries Stigg!
Yup. Will try that
Stig is “winging it”. I get it!!!! 😅
🤣🤣🤣
Absolutely amazing content, sincerest thank you
Glad you enjoyed it
I was lucky as a member of the military I got to go to the depot in Corpus Christi, TX and did engine builds of both T700 and 714 helicopter.😊
That’s some great experience. And thank you for your service 🫡
Great project Stig but your supervisor needs a hat that says SUPERVIVOR! Much Love Gerr
Got to find a hard hat with holes so the eats will poke out 😅
Hey Stig, please make a Video about your cats. I love cats. And Avionics. :)
Well I won’t in this channel but I do show them time to time on my other platforms
I spy a life size blade.
Indeed that is a real blade from a CF6
Extra Like for the cat who helped. By being a cat. It always helps!
My little fur baby mechanics 😆
Black starts at 15:16
Ya I fixed that. Sorry about that.
I'm sure the cats will enjoy playing with that model... they will love the moving parts! Great model... thanks for sharing the build process. Also, your cats are beautiful.
Thank you for watching Robert. I appreciate you
Nice build
I'm glad you like it
Thanks for the build! I was wondering how they compared to the real thing.
It’s pretty close but it had discrepancies. It’s got most of the basic features there. I would say 7/10 accurate
Stig you help me learn about aircraft so much where I take tests and in pass all the time thank you Stig Aviation.
I’m very happy it’s helping you. Keep up the great studies and you will pass all of them. Cheers
Agent jay z did a build of this engine he was not impressed with the lack of quality.
I mean it’s not super detailed.. it’s a 3D Printed model. For its price point and esthetic value, I’d say it’s pretty nice. Definitely a nice conversation piece or a example that can be used to explain how an engine works
Very cool. Cheers, Stig.
Thank you
Did you install the batteries backwards? Looks like you did.
I thought I put it in correctly. I’ll double check
Nice!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Hey stig just question which is the best airline to work for now in 2024?
That’s a subjective question and I can’t answer it without being biased 😅. But to be honest, any airline with a good union and good pay/benefits is optimal.
Call avionics to reverse the polarity to change the direction of rotation of fan.
Put the sparkies to work 😅
I would love one of these , but cant get them in South Africa :(
Maybe one day they will offer shipping there
Why is his voice so calming!! I love what you do, thank you!
Thank you so much for that beautiful compliment. And I’m glad you enjoyed the video
I bet building a real Trent at RR is more fiddly 🤪🤣
Most definitely
Love ur videos thanks for providing such good content 😊
My pleasure 😊
I hate engineering so much i dont have free time i want to go continue and designing my jet engine :l
Why would you have engineering?
Thanks!
Thank you so much for your support
Need! 😍
🤙
It will be my pleasure to help you out with that if you want let me know I’m here
I appreciate that. That’s incredibly kind of you. I just wouldn’t know where to start. I have figure out a whole new way to do things.
Too bad it doesn't make any sound. Although it looks cool. Great job Stig.🤙🏻
I’ll just put a speaker behind it and put a recording of GE90 starting up. 🤙
@@StigAviation 🤣🤙🏻👍🏻
Kitty cat😍😍😍

🤙
Stig. I've got a flight coming up in a few days and your videos are helping me so much 😅I'm a nervous flyer hahaha
I hope you have a beautiful flight. Don’t be nervous. Just enjoy the beauty of flight.
@@StigAviation Thank you :)
It must be my birthday to get a bonus video from Stig! 🎉
Glad I was able to make this one in short notice. It was fun
that was cool stig
Glad you enjoyed it
Very cool, no issues when I watched the video 👌
Thank you James. Glad is was smooth
I like short videos like this, and I recommend making your videos shorter and posting them every other day instead of long videos every week. These days, it's hard to stay engaged for an hour. Also, congratulations on your “2024 Excellence in Aviation Maintenance Award! You are an inspiration in the aviation community. Good luck 👍🏻
Thank you very much. I really appreciate it. It is an honor and a humbling feeling. As for the short videos. I’ll try my best to do so. It’s just a bit hard to make that many videos in a week. I won’t have the time, but I’ll do my best.
Hi Stig. Loving the channel. I recently broke 2 bones in my foot whilst on holiday, you are keeping me sane. I was supposed to fly out on a ATR 72 600, a new one, but, the airline has had a few issues with its fleet, so I ended up on a 37 year old SAAB 240, I had no worries about the aircraft age or saftey aspects thanks to your constant information about how the aircraft are maintained, and checked. Keep up the good work, I'am spreading the word about your channel to friends and relatives. Gary
Wishing you a speedy recovery Gary. And thank you so much for being here. I appreciate you.
Dude show us your cats! Get them a pilot custom 😂
😅😂
