I am glad you are saving these cars Vito. They will outlive any new car. One day people will be craving analog cars and nothing is more dependable than a well sorted Classic Mercedes.
Hell yah. I was just given a 1985 190d by my step mother, it was her first husband's and none of her kids or grandchildren wanted it. "it's too old" they said. She asked if I wanted it "hell yah I'll take it" No rust, perfect paint, single owner, low mileage,.... And still everyone told me to scrap it, because it had sat for ten years and needed work. I called the mercedes dealership and said I wanted them to go through it and give me a list of things that need fixed. They were surprised and happy as I was that somebody was going to take care of the classic car. Thier head mechanic said he had seen cars that just needed a new battery and tuned up, or a new timing chain, sent to the crusher because nobody cared. Good for you man. Stay safe.

Good job Vito. You probably won't have to much issue with rust in WA state but in IL that's a whole different issue! I just bought a car come to find out it was from NY state. Worst rust I've ever seen!
Would you be interested in doing a video of a 78 240 DL, sitting since pandemic? Was running prior, pretty well maintained, too. But Sat last 4 years. I cannot turn it over. I need to get it out of his driveway.
Hey Vito. What type grease are you using there? My '82 300D could probably use a little lubrication, since I've never done it. I do keep my hood hinges lubricated though.
I use wheel bearing grease. For the door and window seals, I use a rubber seal conditioner. I do it twice a week on my cars. This will prevent cracking of the seals and they'll last forever. Same with leather. You need to use a leather conditioner and condition that pretty often

Yah, I just got it two weeks ago. It's still in the shop. The little things I can fix myself, but engine and break lines I'll leave to professionals.

Да, есть образование. Но самые любимые авто это Старые Мерседесы!
