Was never the biggest trance fan, was more into the techno/gabber scene, giving my maturing years though I'm loving these mixes, takes me back to the simpler kind of mixing I used to do in my bedroom on a pair of citronic decks and a radio shack mixer (don't laugh) thought I was Stu Allan :)
Why should i laugh? There is an old mix on my channel where i use Reloop RP2000 which are similar if not the same as were yours. If you know what to do you will have fun even on 70-80s home style decks with rotary pitch. :) music is what matters! And some good memories of having fun like yours.
My local radio was rebroadcasting UK Top 40 every week and i heard lots of trance now classics first time right there. Still remember how i first heard Hi Gate - Pitchin, Signum - What Ya Got 4 Me, Planet Perfecto - Bullet in the gun. Ehh, that was discovery time... :)
Oh wow; glad I stumbled upon you so early in these episodes. This will fill a couple of hours at work tomorrow cheers 🍻 mate for the effort. 😮 looking forward to hearing Der Scheiber again. Loved Timo Maas and everything German / Euro Techno
Enjoy! I am not Techno guy, but Ubik and remix of Dooms Night from Timo Maas are delicious tunes. :) maybe i will play The Dance someday if i will continue to make recordings.
Oh yeah, they say vinyl crackling sounds bad and then listen streaming compressed audio at 128kbps or youtube 5 times reuploaded and recompressed audio lol :D
@@champain7357 Long life for analog devices. that are beautiful and natural. Is there anything sexier than those trays? Vinyl has returned with such force that the old producers can't cope.
Haha thank you Sir! :D this was recorded on a smartphone which was mounted on top of paining frame. You can see part of painting on video. Not the best solution, but i dont have any stands/mounts so had to improvise. :)
@@champain7357 Wow that's a great idea. When I do my sets, I'm streaming live using OBS on my laptop (with the video feed coming from a USB webcam) and later uploading a copy to youtube, so I don't know if I can do that. How is your phone connected?
The thing is I dont livestream so my phone is not connected to anything. I record audio on usb stick directly from mixer, video on smartphone then edit everything on phone and upload.
hi, noticed you used to have a DJM600, how does that compare to the DJM350 you are using now any noticeable difference in sound quality between them both?
Hi, i used only phono inputs on both so my experience is only regarding vinyl use. 600 was fine, good clear sound without any distortions. I dont know why everyone out there were saiyng that 600 has shitty sound. 350 is maybe clearer on high freq and sounds great to me. But again: vinyl itself isnt that great quality source, especially on hf range. What is shit is my 450 (my second mixer, not used in videos)! This bad boy has shittiest phono inputs i ever had!
@@champain7357 thanks, oh no was hoping you weren't going to say that as I was looking at the 450, looks like a mini 750mkii, but that sucks if the phono sounds shit through it as I predominately use my technics, there isn't much else choice out there for a decent 2 channel with the similar efex that the 450/750II has
Mhmm, i have 450 since 2019. Bought it as a replacement for 600 because i like effects (especially flanger) but dont need 4 channels and i wanted to have built in soundvard to try DVS. But unfortunately while effects in 450 are great sound quality sucks. Honestly i kinda found 350 as fine replacement for 450. It doesnt have effects as on 450 but still has 4 similar to "color" effects where Jet is basically hand controlled flanger. + I like Crush which is not present on 450. So if you can live with minimum effects and dont need DVS i suggest you to buy 350. You will be able to record your mixes into usb stick directly from mixer, great feature.
Mixes are a bit short. These songs have tons on the back end to play with. You can see by the grooves that some have 8, 10 or even 12 phrases on the outro. Ride the mix all the way to the breakdown, and hit the points where both records change at the same time. Record 1 bass drops out, record 2 bass kicks in and a major change happens, then keep it in the mix all the way to the breakdown. Hit those changes at the same time and it's a certified sweet mix. I'm not a fan of a 4 phrase mix, then pulling the needle when record 2 kicks in and there's still a minute left until the breakdown. It's a bit cheap, and kills the energy. Mixes are supposed to heighten and build energy, not kill it. Take a couple of risks with the mixes. 52:53. I would have started BBE right there. 2 phrases before the breakdown. The breakdown is 2 phrases long. BBE kicks in on 4 phrases and it all joins together like lego until the breakdown. BBE builds up, and underneath Moloko winds down both htting those points at the same time.
Hi. Thanks for analysis and these ideas. I kinda practice this style of mixing but with other type of music and i dont think i will ever record that, its too dangerous. I agree this might be applied to trance too but for recordings i will prefer "cheap" mixing because i primarily record mixes to listen them while riding somewhere and i like it like that.
@@champain7357 Noihing better than mxing or listening back to your own mixes where you pulled of something special. As long as a transition as you can where you get 2 records to fit together like lego
