Man I miss sand bass fishing, and Oklahoma fishing in general. I lived there from 1955-1984, then moved to Colorado where I still live today. There's just no comparison in the quality and variety of fishing, in species, size or just the quality of the fishing experience. Anyway it's good to see the sand bass runs are still there, they happen all over the state if you know where and when to go.
A technique I really enjoyed using was a popping cork and jig. Any white/silver/red 1/8 oz. jig will do, just tie it on, then clip on a small popping cork about 3' above it (like a bobber with a cupped top). Cast it out and bring it back in jerking motion, making that cork go SPLOOSH real loud. The fish hear the commotion and spot the jig dancing below. Those sandies will clobber that thing, really yank the cork under. It's a fun way to fish spawners in the creeks and big tailwaters below dams. Try it, you'll like it.

GameplaysGusgamer there is no size or daily limit on white (or sand) bass in the state of Oklahoma as they are VERY plentiful in the state. also some people enjoy fishing for food and not just harassing the wildlife.

Curious on how far these white bass will travel upstream. Got a uncle who has a property about 3-5 miles out from lake Eufaula and has a creek run through. Wonder if they’ll pass through there but at the moment it’s really shallow. Hopefully rain comes and it’s deep enough for them to go up.

White bass will travel many miles upstream to spawn and will surprisingly make their way through shallow water areas until they can't go any further. Of course, they may favor certain tributaries over others and their spawning runs depend greatly on a combination of water flow and temperatures. It may be worth checking out your uncle's property when conditions are right, as you never know! Good luck!

Should be a size limit and limit on them, seen too many people fill a cooler to show off then waste the fish, because there were too many to fool with.

Although no one should ever waste fish or game, there are good reasons why there's no limit on Sandies. First, they are very prolific spawners, each female yields between 200,000 to almost a million eggs. Second, they have short life spans, they're not going to live long anyway so people should take advantage of the resource. Third, they are shad-eating machines so they can crash the baitfish population if they over-populate, which can be detrimental to all the other fish in the lake. You get bigger, healthier fish if their numbers are kept in check. It's worked out well for 55 years, that I know of anyway.
They are good eating and you can filet 40 of them in no time with an electric filet knife and a little practice. It's a great resource, easy to catch large numbers with simple lures and methods.
