- Watch, as the F-16 Viper West demonstration piloted by Captain Garrett "Mace" Dover performs some INTENSE maneuvers as a rehearsal for the Jacqueline Cochran Air Show. Footage I shot in Thermal, CA Friday November 4th, 2011. This was the LAST TIME the F-16 Viper West demonstration team performed due to all Air combat command single ship demos being cancelled in 2012.

This shows the stark difference between US flight demonstrations and demonstrations here in Russia. In Russia, they showcase low speed, near-stall maneuvering, it looks beautiful and honestly, our jets are better in that slower range, but then you have a flight like this. This is what you'll see in combat, a jet never slowing below 200kts, these American jets own the skies from 250kts+ and we know it. If you ever watch a Sukhoi jet, or a MIG perform at high speeds, they look sloppy and they can barely maintain a smooth angle of attack, while all these western demonstrations, every jet looks like they're on RAILS. Keep it up, I'm a huge fan of these vids

Quixxlez Well said! What is seen here by the F-16 is never losing energy, pulling high g maneuvers, that is rarely shown in Russian demonstrations. What the Russian trolls cannot seem to comprehend is that most dogfights are not one versus one, but several versus several, and going slow doing fancy flips might look nice, in reality only makes them a sitting duck. That’s why when aircraft compete for military sales, the maneuvers that you see by Russian aircraft are not criteria used to make the determination which aircraft is better. For dogfights specifically they look at instant, sustained, and roll turn rates, and the ability to recover from high bleed maneuvers. The F-16 displayed all those traits here. For BVR it’s avionics, situational awareness, sensor fusion, radars, stealth, all areas exceeded by western aircraft.

Thetequilashooter1 the Su-27’s Cobra maneuver everyone orgasms over is impressive to watch, but like you said there are more than just the Sukhoi and the guy behind him involved. Pull that maneuver with an F15 on your tail and yeah, he’ll probably overshoot, but then you’re at 150kts, still in controlled flight of course, but with no energy to get away from his wingman. Slow isn’t good. Low and slow are even worse.
Speed is life. In a world of HOBS missle launches in dogfights, it's impossible to dodge an AIM-9X while you are at 50 knots ;P
F 16 is still amazing. Incredible Agility and Speed... The Pilot in this video is one hell of a pilot.

Тодор Живков What, go low and slow performing high bleed maneuvers that will only get pilot killed in real combat? What you saw here is what pilots talk about to keep alive in a dogfight, which is to maintain energy. You don’t see the MiG 29 pull as many high g’s. It’s one of the reasons why the most advanced Fulcrum, the MiG-35, didn’t fare so well in the MMRCA tender. The only area it did well was top-end speed. When it came to instant and sustained turn rates it did not perform as well as its competition. The prime reasons why it failed were its engines and its radar failing to reach desired acquisition ranges required under the tender.

I've probably watched this video at least 50 times, and it's still as exciting as the first. This pilot is on the pipe from take off to landing. I'm so grateful we have pilots with his skill in our Air Force.

The F16 started the whole "unstable with avionics (what most jets are today)" thing moving nozzle or not it can do some nice moves :)

I didn’t either. There’s a video on TH-cam of a Swiss F-18 legacy hornet doing some incredible stuff, better than this even, and in the comments some guys are saying it has advanced software updates. It’s pretty incredible! Does several cobra maneuvers and flat spins that I thought could only be done with thrust vectoring.

f16s are quality look so intimidating and agile
5:00 check out this sustained high speed high G turn. I can't think of many other aircraft that can do it as well as the Falcon. In a dog fight, thrust vectoring can compensate for a lesser aircraft in this arena, but a competent pilot, in an f16, can simply evade your thrust vectored solution with energy retention and roll rate until you are out of energy and then just kill you.
I'm really kind of speechless. I swear that thing flew like it had thrust vectoring. I've seen a lot of aggressive demonstrations by aircraft from other countries and I just don't see some of these more supposedly advanced aircraft being any better and in a dogfight than the F-16.
Hopefully now you understand why thrust vectoring technology isn't needed

It was designed to be a dog fighter from scratch. It still has the fastest turn rate of any American Jet except the F-22.
@@joshuareed6894 the F22 has a better turn radius while the F16 has a better turn rate (meaning the F22 would favor a 1-circle fight while the F16 would favor a 2 circle rate fight)
@@ariane19. Ah, but does it? Depends on the configuration of the aircraft. The slick version of the F-16 might squeak a tenth or two of a degree per second of turn rate. As soon as you start adding missiles to its wings the F-22 is gonna dominate it because of the increased drag. The F-22 doesn’t suffer as much due to its internal stowage bays.

It absolutely ruined roller coasters for me. I still enjoy them somewhat but just don't get much of a thrill from many of them anymore.
They can put you to sleep pretty easy if you're a backseater "guest" in an F-16D. 9 Gs will do that. Whether or not you toss your cookies depends on your attitude, lol. If you make any Top Gun or Maverick comments or talk smack about the little old F-16 or have a "been there and done that attitude", hold on to your ass, lol. There are barf bags in the rear cockpit normally but you have to be humble enough to grab one right away. Hard to get a hold of one when the ride starts. That's another good way to try to ensure you won't need one. The VIP/PR flights are recorded by a rear-facing camera and the passenger gets a copy. The pilot can see the video real-time on a small display. If you grab a bag early and show proper respect you'll at least get some consideration and some warm-up maneuvers. What makes most people sick is fear rather than motion sickness because visibility is no problem at all. And the cockpit atmosphere and pressurization is a little different than what you get in an airliner and that has an effect too. So does forgetting to breathe. The pilots don't really like making people puke because it costs them cold beer or whatever on the ground when ground crew guys have to clean it up and they want people to enjoy their flights and the aircraft. But some people have to be humbled a little bit before they lighten up and let themselves become little kids at the amusement park again.
You need to ride better roller coasters. I'm not saying there's a comparison because there's not. That's the point. There are things that plane will do that no roller coaster ever could and vice versa. Roller coasters are more dangerous, too.

This has been my favorite aircraft since I was a kid. And I have so many jets lined up in 2nd position... The F22, F35, Rafale, A10, F15.. it just keeps going. It’s such a gorgeous aircraft. It’s the small sport cars of jets in my opinion.

imagine the F16 with thrust vectoring. something similar to whar the SU 30 family of jets have. multidirectional thrust not just up/down like F-22. It should not be that hard to fit such a system on existing aircraft. Money better spent on newer technology but gah can you imagine what the F-16 would be like with that? WOW!

Saw a flight of two F-16s fly over my house last week. First one went into a right turn and the second one hit the after burners to catch up. Even in the morning desert sun I could see the long tail of fire against the bright sky. The best memories are the ones that just happen and you're in the right place to see it.

Served in the USAF back in the 80’s and the F-16 was and still is my favorite fighter jet. This video was better than watching the Thunderbirds & Blue Angels
With the Block 70 soon to come on line it has been modified with a strengthening of the fuselage, and electronics from both the F-22 and F-35. With its agility it will be hard to shoot down and can find the enemy over the horizon. It's always less expensive to improve an existing model than to design a new aircraft. Bahrain, Slovakia, and India will receive the first of this new model.
First off I want to say that the F-16 is an amazing aircraft and has served extremely well in every air force it has served in. It is still one of the best 4th gen multi role fighters in the world and it is over 40 yrs old design!! The US also designed the F-15 around the same time, so that should tell you just how far the US is ahead of Russia in fighter design and technology.
Secondly I have read some REALLY stupid comments about how the F-16 is superior in a dogfight and that it can out manuever a F-35 lol. I realize that 99% of you are civilians and don't know anything about fighters and the technology that goes in them. No i'm not a pilot, I only served 10 yrs in the US army, but my older brother is a F-15E pilot and knows more than all you TH-camr experts combined when it comes to fighters and dogfighting. The F-35 can actually out manuever a F-16 (especially when the F-16 isn't clean) and is more than capable of winning any dogfight against ANY 4th gen fighter. But in reality, there wouldn't be a dogfight or at least not in the traditional way. The F-35 or F-22 would detect and kill any fighter long before they even knew the F-35/F-22 was there. Also what you so call "experts" (i say that very sarcastically) don't know or realize that even if and thats a huge "IF", were to get into a visual range and spot the F-35, the F-35 would have already spotted them long before they saw him and would have put his aircraft in the best position to engage and destroy the them. So even if you were to get into a WVR dogfight, you would start off in a bad position against the F-35.
My brother has flown a lot of training missions with F-35's and F-22's and he tells me that they are nearly impossible to detect and the only way to know they are near you is when you are dead! You also have to remember that the F-35 is the most advanced aircraft ever built and has the most advance technology in the world inside it. The military is still trying to figure out how much this jet is actually capable of and that should tell you everything. I get a good laugh when I hear people say that the F-35 can't dogfight or isn't maneuverable or that a F-35 lost a dogfight with a F-16 lol. Seriously, people are really stupid! That NEVER happened, the actually F-35 pilot even said that all they were doing were testing some of the flight controls and AoA. That was yrs ago when it the F-35 was still in testing and wasn't even fully ready.
Bread & Butter - As far as videos, i don't know any off hand but I would image there are some out there. But the F-15 is a far more powerful and faster aircraft. It is more about flying high and fast. The F-15 is much better at high altitude, where as the F-16 is more manueverable at lower altitude. Also i'm not sure if you have ever heard of the high/low term? The F-15 was the high figher and F-16 was the low fighter. The F-15 was the more advanced fighter and the F-16 was the cheaper/less advanced fighter. Yes the F-16 if a very agile fighter and can dogfight with the best of them, but the F-15 had the much more powerful and advance radar and avionics. So the F-15 has the ability to detect and kill the F-16 before the F-16 could respond.
I've never heard anyone say that the F-15 was a clunker or even a bad fighter in my life lol. The F-15 is one of the greatest fighters that was ever built and I"m not saying that because i'm an American, it's just a fact. The F-15 is almost 40 yrs old and is still one of the most feared fighters in the world to date. I believe it's K/D ratio is 101 to 0!

Besides the Danish air force and Belgian air force and dutch air force, but the Norwegian air force the Norwegians have done it.
this is why the us needs to buy some block 70 f16's as our aging fleet is retired.

This display would look fast and crazy even for a today's f 35 and other modern planes, great machine
