Some years ago I went clubbing in Frankfurt, when the city was struck by a blizzard. In the very early morning I walked to Opernturm to get home by bus, and a guy told me that no bus will come, since the traffic collapsed. So I had to walk home for more than an hour, drunk and tired and frozen to the bone. Untouched snow crackled under my shoes. A metropolis frostbitten, glittering in ice, it was oh so quiet, like I was the only person left in the world. But I swear there was a humming sound in the air, it sounded like the etheral song I'm just listening to.
This is such a nice comment but youtube thought it was a spam, and I just now saw it. Thank you for sharing this story. Glad to somehow have provided a soundtrack to your journey from the future :)

side note - I've been building up to owning a modular system but now I'm thinking this might be more suited to me. I do live sampling with the Octatrack and want a synth companion that can create these kind of complex morphing sounds.
seems to me like you got out of the little box and got into an even smaller box ;) it's definitely good to confine yourself to limitations though. seems like you learn more, or at least raise the resolution of your knowledge that way. keep on goin on man, you rock.

Charles McCullough Thank you. Recording to tape is just so simple and straight forward that I really enjoy it. Especially with a minimal setup like this. But it‘s not that I use tapes exclusively, I also use the computer for other projects. Cassettes just kinda make me happy. That‘s all.
Matt Gerken I find it very intuitive. But I spent quite a bit of time with all kinds of synths and also know my way around Elektron gear. So there will be a learning curve. But I‘d say you can definitely master the Digitone. It is the easiest fm synth I ever used.
according to all that I've read cassette tape is the worst medium of any but I commend you for trying and actually doing cuz to be honest sounds fine to my ears.
For reproducing something exactly - like a violin, piano, or crash cymbols, cassette tape is probably not that good (2-inch reel to reel is though). But for electronically manufactured and processed sound, the sound of the cassette tape is intentional. I mean, if you use a distortion pedal, you can't really complain afterwards that it distorts the sound :-)
