    My late Dad's favourite truck, he loved driving them, remember being in the cab with him as a nipper and he was smiling from ear to ear driving around, think he enjoyed it more than his car, love to think I could buy this lovely truck in memory of Dad

    “Not the best cab in the world”. ? Wish my living room looked as good. Huge credit to whoever restored this wonderful old truck.

    Brings back great memories of my 17 years as a delivery coalman, between 78\95, never drove anything but bedfords, usually overweight by 30 + cwt bags of coal or a ton and a half,no problem for these hardworking lorries, but the coal was going off the lorry that fast back when every house in country had coal fires that when the fly weights and measures men ambushed us we were usually legal,or underweight haha, brilliant, and the heaters when they were working were brilliant in the winters, trying to heat up your frozen and soaking hands at the front of the wee box heater with the side flaps, just like the engine side flaps, brilliant if you needed a pee at the side of the road, just lean in as if you're checking the engine haha, happy days and memories of good people, and hard work.

    They all had that rubber behind the step from the factory it had little rubber tags on that you pulled through holes in the panel to hold it in place

    I worked for a chap in the early 1960's who had a late 40's Bedford flat back. It was a right worn out old knacker and a pig to start on a cold winters morning without half a can of quick start. But was reliable and took us all over the country.

    First truck I ever drove. Ministry man pointed out to me that the springs shouldn’t be pointing down, and should be level at most. Tad overloaded. 😂

    Bedford Tk was a lovely truck ,drove during 80’s then had Bedford TL in 90’s ,none had power steering though but the TL had some sort of oil lubricant to steering knuckles etc ,used pull a lever and it slowly fed oil through.Miss those trucks!

    I remember driving a TK in 1969, the first time I'd every driven a lorry and was a bit apprehensive, I shouldn't have been it was as easy as a car to drive. That will go for a good price and deservedly so - beautiful.

    That’s a 220 if I remember the sound, change down when your driving into the wind. The 330 was the better engine. No power steering on a TK but the TL got power steering

    I took my HGV license in a 10 ton TK.
    My favourite feature was the gear lever coming through the bulkhead between the seats.
    Look at that "parcel shelf", would you believe that this was actually a bed? Yep the TK supposedly had the first British built sleeper cab.
    Thanks for showing her off.

    One of my fondest memories is of Pete who drove a 16 tonne one of these with...no power steering. He'd balance rolling a fag, swigging a can of Coke, and eating an apple on the busiest roundabout in Bournemouth 😂

    Gawd this bloke don't know much about Bedford TK's does he? No, it wouldn't have power steering TK's just didn't need it. The rubber kickpad above the step was standard fitting on all new TK's. It looks like it's sitting on sixteen inch wheels, they tended to a bit arsey especially when unladen; seventeen inch wheels where much the better choice and he doesn't state whether its a four or five speed box.

      Yeh, don,t particularly rate that lad. Rushes everything, highly opinionated , not very bright and yet still money mad. Not my cup of tea to be honest. He,s definately the one that needs deleting from an otherwise great show.

    • @bombadilian
      @bombadilian 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why would he know loads specifically about TKs? How many TKs do you think they deal with?

    • @donfink7063
      @donfink7063 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bombadilian The Bedford TK the most popular commercial vehicle in the UK and Europe during the 1960's and into the 1970's. If you're going to sell something then it pays to do a little research and just about any profession driver who was around during those times can give you the low down. A salesman knows what he selling, it's called doing your job! A cowboy spout a load of nonsense!
