The cut to everyone wearing frog hats was still processing in my brain when I heard Garrick say “some of you fucks requested it” and just. The juxtaposition of real deal Garrick and the frog hat he’s in while he’s a badass. I just love these guys
I maintain that Andy's friends are Nate level bad. They take all the gifts, at least one knows how big this opportunity was, they watch her turn down Christian Thompson and STILL they play keep away with her phone and give her shit without listening to her side.
Yes! Her friends are just the woorst! They already knew she is stressed with her boss and instead of helping her unwind, they have the nerve to toss her phone around after taking high-end gifts from her.
it was a little surprising to me that none of y'all read andy's initial dismissal of the fashion industry as internalized misogyny. she's set up in contrast to the ladies working at runway from the moments of the opening film partially because she is going to be competing with these women for opportunities and partially because existing as a femme in this society means constantly being compared to women like them. like, tit shots to keep the boyfriends awake? that's the actual marketing language that was used around films like these. even in a movie for and about women we need to be reminded of where mens' eyes go when they see us. however, like a lot of girls around that time, instead of aiming her ire at the people making the comparisons, andy looked down on the people who embraced the potential of being fashionable. the most important way that she changes in relation to her boyfriend is that she has become invested in things that typically only feminine people care about. if he had an actual ethical objection to the fashion industry, that would have been the primary conflict between him and andy instead of saying "you've changed, you're taking this too seriously." he literally only wants her to be interested in things that he deems cool and her friends also suffer from this to a degree. that is misogyny in action. "if you develop feelings and desires independent of my own surface values, you are now a fembot." she cannot take her job seriously until she takes miranda seriously, until she takes runway readers seriously, and that goes against the conditioning she's experienced to not just reject unattainable standards, but to deem them unworthy of her effort to attain them in the first place. she has to peel that shit away in layers.
Thank you for pointing this out. I didn't realise this at the time but upon rewatching the movie, it is so easy to see how Andy was very 'Not like other girls' here.
Besides being cute, I don't 'get' the frog hats. I googled wondering if it was some kind of Tucci reference, but the only thing I could find is that frogs are currently a symbol for the LGBT+ community. Is that the point they're making?
I love the moment Miranda reads Andi over the fashion history that led to her choices. Also, I'm so down for Stanley Tucci month. I hope they do Julie and Julia.
What we forget about Meryl Streep in this movie is that Glenn Close played Cruella De Vil who was the precursor to this character. She had some iconic moments too: “I have no use for…babies!”
I see Zach painted his nails black my favorite color and the frog buckets hat are dope! The heel is honestly the best iconic symbol i love it!! also what Kelsey said about the fashion in NY I didn't grow up here but I do live in Long Island now lol and I honestly like comfy but she got a point
I’m an audio listener subscribing here just to say y’all gotta make Tucci Month merch. I’ve never bought TH-cam/Podcaster merch before, but I’d FOR SURE buy a Tucci Month shirt!
Yay! One of my favorite movies 😃 I'm 35 minutes in, because even though I've seen it a million times I love to watch the films before the pod. It really makes my Mondays and gives me a happy start to the week 💜
I know most people find disagreement interesting and entertaining but I found this episode so good because you all loved this movie! Also, peak TH-cam podcast with the hats, handholding, and facial expressions!
I'm glad that as soon as Zach mentioned Tracie Thoms, Kelsey started singing "Seasons of Love." I knew she was part of my crowd, but that *CONFIRMED* it.
I watch this podcast way more than the other one. I think I’ve seen one episode of you can sit with us and that was the one with Keith, Matt, Eugene, and Becky. You’ve got my subscribe!
About the comment with Miranda being a reasonable boss, Miranda holds herself to just as high a standard as she does everyone else. Higher even. In every single scene we see, she’s always working or talking about work. She’s a work horse and her efforts pay off
i actually loved this movie way more than the book and i read the book prior to watching it. one of the rare moments where the movie was better than the source material.
Sorry for this very long comment LOL! Congratulation on your new channel! Andrea was very much a the villain! I watched this when it first came out as a teenager and hated Nate and Miranda but as an adult I realized it was for sure Anne. She got a very sought after job and instead of appreciating it, she sulked. Currently being on the hamster wheel that is corporate America all I can think about is all of the people that have worked extremely hard to get that job and was passed on for her, just for her to complain. There is a certain brand of YT woman who try to act like they are above the capitalisms and privilege of America while still reaping the benefits. She was a perfect example. Like oooh I'm quirky and different and not superficial when she literally has someone dream job and could have quit if she was unhappy but she chose to complain until TUCCI gave her a reality check like ma'am get a grip. Also she was horrible at communication with Nate and tried to act like the writing wasn't on the wall. He was so confused about her and this job as she always made it seem to him like it was stupid and she hated it there but, she was doing all these thing to that interrupted here everyday life. Her actions were not matching her words at all.
you guys r perfectly in sync with my life, i just re read the hunger games to prep for the ballad of song birds and snakes film, along with analyzing the devil wears prada for an assignment :)
I feel like the film doesn't actually have a villain, which is nice because most situations and people aren't black/white good/bad. I like that every character in there is flawed and, frankly, often unlikeable from operating in a very competitive, stressful environment. However we get to have some empathy and understanding for where they're coming from. I feel the story is about evolving as a person through a certain experience rather than winning or losing, or who's perfectly right or wrong.
Tucci lives in London because hes married to Emily Blunts sister and I've seen him on my overground route several times. I love him but I've never approached him because the commute is kinda sacred. If you are the first to make a big deal about a celebrity then you don't know if 1) you're going to get embarrassingly rejected in front of dozens of people or 2) they're super nice and everybody else will start bothering them too. So I just admire from afar!
Kelsey is not wrong: I wanted to grow up and be Anna Wintour’s Assistant. Also, my mother and I were Tim Gunn Stans and watched OG ‘Project Runway’ religiously.
Tucci actually shared an on film kiss with Streep in "Julie & Julia" (which I think y'all should cover, he was such a great husband in that film) but yea!!! I just love those two together
I understand where you all are coming from on the Andy work ethic/villain discussion. I used to work for a pretty powerful person and yeah the first assistant has to be amazing and dedicated and on top of things. I also never understood who someone as smart and a researcher like Andy would ever go into an interview without doing the research
Petitioning for an extra episode for Tucci month so we can appreciate the greatest of guilty pleasures: Burlesque!! He’s so iconic in each of the movies you picked, but I feel like he really steals the show in that film.
First: LOVE you guys! Amazing work! Second: please for Christmas episodes do “Falling for Christmas.” Has our queen Lindsey Lohan and is the ultimate cheese, and I NEED to hear what Kelsey has to say 😂
TUCCI GANG TUCCI GANG TUCCI GANG!!!! I love me some TOOCH!!! I saw this movie in the theater with several girls I went to high school with that I no longer hang out with, so it makes me feel like that was a whole other lifetime ago. I feel lucky that I exist on the same timeline as this movie because it is that amazing.
Please, I’m begging, watch Crazy Ex-Girlfriend for this podcast. Also written by Aline Brosh McKenna (among other super talented writers but she’s the connecting factor here lol)
I’ve read the book after watching the book and they’re both good. I enjoyed reading the book because it’s way more chaotic. The movie had quotable lines and catchphrases. They balanced each other out.
To Garrick's point about the NYC hustle culture-- it's clear that that culture was poisoning everyone in the film. It led to the backstabbing, the cruelty, the jealousy, the bad friendships. They always say NYC is like a character in films. Maybe in this one, NYC is the villain.
Stanley Tucci… IN ONLY A TOWEL AROUND HIS WAIST! 1994’s “It Could Happen To You”… Nic Cage, Bridget Fonda, Rosie Perez, Wendell Pierce… if this movie doesn’t make it on an episode I just need to know you all to know there is a movie with Tucci shirtless
you HAVE TO do Easy A, one of tucci's best roles 🤷♀️
also a hilarious iconic movie! emma stone breakout
I loved him SO MUCH in that movie
This is my favorite movie!!
underrated but top tier tucci performance
he has so many great one liners in that and his chemistry and rapport with Patricia Clarkson is really unmatched
Emily Blunt as Emily Charlton was iconic. She was the ‘Emily in Paris’ we deserved.
LOL - Garrick looking right into camera all blurry and outraged about watching Emily in Paris for no reason was sensational
We need a FULL Month of Tucci ❤️ - not just two weeks 😭😭
2 seconds in and Zach looks adorable AND THEN EVERYONE IS WEARING BUCKET HATS WITH FROG EYES.
And everyone in their Crocs!
@@nancythomas5387 That too.
The cut to everyone wearing frog hats was still processing in my brain when I heard Garrick say “some of you fucks requested it” and just. The juxtaposition of real deal Garrick and the frog hat he’s in while he’s a badass. I just love these guys
also i love that Garrick and Kelsey are wearing crocs together
I maintain that Andy's friends are Nate level bad. They take all the gifts, at least one knows how big this opportunity was, they watch her turn down Christian Thompson and STILL they play keep away with her phone and give her shit without listening to her side.
They were the worst! My friends and I have discussed this extensively!
Yes! Her friends are just the woorst! They already knew she is stressed with her boss and instead of helping her unwind, they have the nerve to toss her phone around after taking high-end gifts from her.

I remember that Anna Wintour wore PRADA to the premiere of the movie.
Im hoping Burlesque will be one of the Guilty Pleasure movies for Tucci Month
44:30 is my favorite moment of this trio's friendship, garrick did not hesitate to whip that hand out to hold zach's hand
I just noticed kelsey tried to reach too! I LOVE THESE THREE!!!!
Garrick now has to watch Julie and Julia to watch the tucci in love with Meryl
Yes, I was thinking this! Tucci definitely kisses on screen in that movie.
Thé ‘Vogue’ Sequence is iconic.
Also, Meryl Streep said that the costumes were the Special Effects of the Movie and truer words were never spoken.
I am so thrilled that they did this episode bc as soon as I saw it I KNEW they were gonna tear Nate a new one, and I was not disappointed
Nate sucks.
i've never related to something more than garrick talking about nate and going _"let them fucking run, dog, FUCK YOUR BIRTHDAY"_
Lol @14:55 Zach describing the outfit change scene in detail like it's not one of the most iconic/memorable fashion sequences ever.
“ I’ve had sh*tty bosses. I worked for Harvey Weinstein.” -Zach (I snorted)
Can you believe that ‘Ugly Betty’ and ‘The Devil Wears PRADA’ came out around the same time?
When I tell you I screamed seeing everyone in frog hats. TUCCI MONTHHHHHH🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Besides being cute, I don't 'get' the frog hats. I googled wondering if it was some kind of Tucci reference, but the only thing I could find is that frogs are currently a symbol for the LGBT+ community. Is that the point they're making?
They’re just cute. Zach had one and lost it at a concert and Kelsey bought him a bunch of new ones along with others for the rest of the cast.
Can we talk about how this episode was released on Anne Hathaway’s 40th birthday!!
guilty pleasures is my fav of the tripods thank youuu for being you and doin what you do
Zach's nails are doin exactly what they need to
The lovely bones is my favorite Stanley Tucci performance. It's a serious subject but id love an episode on that movie for Tucci month wow
The movie and book still give me chills when I remember what happened. Would love to hear their take!!
Yes, thank you!! One of my all-time favorite books and movies!! 💗💯
Hilarious to see Gerrick and Kelsey in crocs and Zach in sneakers…multiverse??? Lol
I hope you guys do Burlesque and The Lovely Bones. The range Stanley has is phenomenal.
to add to zacks point abt andy being the villain, she didn’t even know who miranda was, who she’s applying to be her PERSONAL ASSISTANT
Kelsey was so on point with the Girls, Gays and maybe also Theys being able to recite this movie. I can do pauses and expressions.
I love the moment Miranda reads Andi over the fashion history that led to her choices. Also, I'm so down for Stanley Tucci month. I hope they do Julie and Julia.
Gerrick back in the studio and Tucci month! Here for it!
Omg PLEASE. You must do Burlesque for Tucci Month™️
I don’t care what Keith says. I am here for Tucci month! 🎉
The matching hats!! The Tucci month!! The vibes!! IMMACULATE
He had them painted for Maggie's birthday party.
@@jmason1770 nice forgot about that thanks lol
I’m an audio listener subscribing here just to say y’all gotta make Tucci Month merch. I’ve never bought TH-cam/Podcaster merch before, but I’d FOR SURE buy a Tucci Month shirt!
I’m only half way through the episode but I can already say: BEST EPISODE EVER tucci month is gonna be great
Yay! One of my favorite movies 😃 I'm 35 minutes in, because even though I've seen it a million times I love to watch the films before the pod. It really makes my Mondays and gives me a happy start to the week 💜

I love Kelsey. She says everything I’m thinking! Garrick says everything my boyfriend is thinking 😂

Wow Garrick is popping off in this one! love to see/hear your takes on this iconic movie.😊
Oh my god I was just thinking about how I wanted you guys to do this movie😂👌🏽 such a classic
Love this movie, loved the conversation, and love the magnificence that is Tucci. I'm hoping Easy A and Burlesque are also on the dockett.
This movie slaps, and it still holds up all these years later 💜
I'm down for Tucci month! Been a fan since Undercover Blues! Such an underrated classic!
Burlesque for Tucci month!!

I’ve read the book after watching the book and they’re both good. I enjoyed reading the book because it’s way more chaotic. The movie had quotable lines and catchphrases. They balanced each other out.
The sequel is also a good read
I just searched yesterday to see if y’all had done The Devil Wears Prada yet! So excited!
I didn't even realize the hats until it was said lol it just suits them so well
Yeees, Tucci month! And what best than the devil wears prada!!!!!

So excited y’all are doing this movie. One of my absolute favorites. And totally agree that Andy is the villain
I didn't know we needed Tucci month but here we are, demanding MORE
I'm loving the Wonderfalls shoutout! When I think of what could have been if they hadn't canceled it...
This was such an amazing guilty pleasure episode!!!! Thx so much you guys are awesome !!!
I would love to see you talk about the Tucc in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, he defined the role of Puck for me
The hand hold moment 😂 So cute
I’m 100% here for Tucci Month
I have the same hat as y'all!!! And I absolutely ADORE Tucci. ❤❤❤
I have never hoped for them to do Big Trouble (2001) more because Stanley tucci absolutely steals the show.
i love this film.. i've watched this movie probably in every milestone in my life and could watch it while i'm asleep
Tucci Gang for life!! 🤣💯
All the guilty pleasures gang embodying high fashion with those frog hats tho
literally just WAAAIIITING for them to drag the boyfriend
I am very disappointed that they won’t be watching A Midsummer Night’s Dream because they would absolutely LOVE Stanley Tucci in it
To Garrick's point about the NYC hustle culture-- it's clear that that culture was poisoning everyone in the film. It led to the backstabbing, the cruelty, the jealousy, the bad friendships. They always say NYC is like a character in films. Maybe in this one, NYC is the villain.
the fact that Stanley tucci is not gay has made my brain explode
You guys successfully made me yearn to watch this again
We have an ‘Intuccion’ that ‘Easy A’ might be an episode?
I was listening on Spotify but I heard I needed to check the fits today. I’m loving the hats lol also Kelsey and I had the same Tucci joke 😂
Stanley Tucci… IN ONLY A TOWEL AROUND HIS WAIST! 1994’s “It Could Happen To You”… Nic Cage, Bridget Fonda, Rosie Perez, Wendell Pierce… if this movie doesn’t make it on an episode I just need to know you all to know there is a movie with Tucci shirtless
yasss! I'm so excited to be here
You all look adorbs in your hats!
