I had to smile when he mentioned the hair standing up on your arms. My first amp was cobbled together from parts of an old P.A. It would certainly make your hair stand up, but that was an earthing problem, nothing to do with the sound.

If you’re going to demonstrate an amp, don’t run the signal thru a mountain of pedals. Otherwise, it’s a pedal demonstration.

Hey Prs I have the first edition Sonzera 20 and love the way it sounds but have had many issues with it constant buzzing, replaced every tube the speaker and had a professional amp builder analyze the circuit board of the amp and fine tune the circuitry and soldering, and It sounds great with JJ tubes but it still buzzes and after all that and a couple gigs the foot switch failed very problematic after putting so much money into and still having it rattle.

Don't believe it! I bought the 1st SE version of this amp and it died within a week of purchase. When I contacted PRS and they told me I would have to pay to send that 70 pound amp to them and MAYBE they would fix it or let me know how much it would cost? They don't stand behind their warranty AND nobody has any schematics so nobody else can fix it and even worse, they've painted the circuit board so you can't see where components connect or what their values are? Buyer be ware on any PRS amp! This cost me $850 for a PRS boat ankor!

Not historically a big fan of PRS amps but I've been very curious about this one. The way he describes the structure of the overdrive channel sounds to me very much like the concept of a "cascading" gain stage. I've seen some demos with people getting very compelling dumble style sounds.

Tube guitar amps have been around since the 30's there is no such thing as a
new design there are only so many ways you can engineer a tube gain stage
phase inverter and output stage and it has all been done to death numerous times.

Doug , I purchased the sonzera 50 watt head in 2019. When I received my amp, it had a noticeable hum…. That matured into a loud buzz . My model was made in china …. Is there a USA version of this amp? I’ve made arrangements to send my amp back to prs for repairs, however, I’m not sure if the turn around time for repair. I’ve been a musician all my life, and feel in love with the tone of the sonzera when I heard the tone displayed in the adds.
I’m 62 this year, a paramedic by trade.
If a USA version of this amp is available, I would gladly pay the difference to get the sweet tone amp I paid for . Thank you , Charles Murphy
