I wish to start a collection (Hatsune Miku if ur wondering!), does somebody know a trustable site to start with cheap (like they don't cost from 100€ or more) figurines? Every help is highly appreciated!
hi! i recently discovered solaris japan (shown at 1:34 ), ordered an AMP taito Alice figure from there ^^ the taito, furyu and sega figures are pretty cheap (this is because they are 'prize' figures, ones that you could win from a claw machine or something), but i can't talk about the quality myself haha
@Daria I highly recommend mandarake. They sometimes sell new figures for slightly under their retail price and you can find massive discounts on used figures. I wouldn’t be to worried buying used on there since I’ve bought a bunch of used items from them and they where in great condition(remember to also check the condition on the product page). I hope this helps!
I only allow myself to buy figures of my absolute favourite characters from each show/movie, so that when I loose interest in the series I can still appreciate my love for the character
Hiya! I have a tip of collectors who are minors (like me), just starting, or aren't in charge of their own money (aka parents have it/in control of it). I have a list of figures I want and my mom will slowly get them for me (once a month-ish depending on price). I've gotten good quality figures for around $25, so my tip is stay between the $20-$40 range for single figures if you are in the boat of people I stated at the beginning. If you are doing a set of characters (ex. Rem and Ram) stay between $45-$70. Once you are 18 or have more experience, move up to more expensive ones... just don't become broke. Make sure to follow the tips in the video as well. Also, check the reviews on the figure!! I CANNOT stress this enough
Hi! Thank you for this, I’m a minor but really like the idea of figure collecting. Unless it’s my birthday or a holiday, my parents wouldn’t buy figures for me. My strategy is to save up by doing bigger chores that get me 5-10 dollars and use half my money to buy one. I use money during the summer for food and I don’t wanna use all of it and then not have any then. So, I just save. This is a really good price range!
@@meliooj5257 well it's a combination of multiple things, one I've been collecting figures since I was like 8 so I think my parents don't want me to blow all of my money at once. It's also a lil bit of anxiety, I don't talk to my parents as much as I'd like to so it's hard to ask for favors
I have a medium sized keroro plushie with me since I was in college so he has a special place in my heart--and ofcourse the intro 😊. It's my first time someone noticed him! Amazing haha
@@JennySupremo That’s amazing! I have a keroro plush too. I watched and read keroro pretty much all of my life and I am so happy to see the little alien frog since he isn’t really well known in English speaking countries.
Well I actually didn't know Keroro until I watched lucky star. He was in the manga the main characters were reading almost all of the time 😂 and then I loved him as much as I did with lucky star. His series was actually funny. It's my first meeting someone who likes Keroro to. I mean. Most of my friends say his anime was too mild and suited more for children 😭😭
@@JennySupremo I love both the anime and the manga so much. I always laugh when reading and watching, and many people do say that keroro is very childish and I'm so happy to meet someone who loves keroro too! If you haven't, I recommend reading the manga. It is a little more adult than the show, but it is so funny and it's actually still going until this day~
For European collectors: don't forget u have to pay taxes and possible expensive custom fees when you buy in Japan. Nowadays it's better for me to buy figures in the cheapest European shops
Hi! Glad this video helped somehow. Update me when you get the figure and share with us how was your experience with your first anime figure. 😊😊 If you don't mind tho
Okaerinasai~ happy for you! You finally achieved buying your first anime figure and it's Nezuko on top of that! Good start ❤️ Best of luck on your anime figure collecting journey and DONT forget self control haha!
I can't believe this has so few views! Even though I've been collecting for a while this video was very informative and I definitely wish I knew all this when I was starting out!
Hiiii~ thanks for dropping by 😊 I hope this video helps you in someway. I think I'll make more like this because of the positive feedback 😁 since you're not new to anime figure collecting anymore, I hope you help our fellow collectors too. There are a lot of newbies in my comment section on this and on my other videos. If you can, share some advice and experience so they could also learn from it 🤗
When you want a figure of an anime character but all of them have really insane shipping prices and your city doesn’t sell anything anime/manga related
Man whenever I buy figures, I usually try to set certain rules for myself to maintain some level of control. I try not to buy figures that are over 50 dollars. If I do I have to make sure I'm ok with that in the long run. I try not to buy too many figures of the same franchise. I stick to 1-3 figures per franchise since I like to have variety. I guess my theme is just anything that I like from any franchise I'm a fan of but sometimes I'll buy a figure if it looks cool. Living in a studio apartment space is very limited but I have become a master of making my small space work. You have no idea how good I have become at making space for figures. I also try to buy figures at the end of the month unless it's a preorder because I wanna give myself time to make sure it'll be a worthwhile purchase.
That's a good strategy tho. It does save you tons of money but to be honest I don't think I could do that. I tried doing so just this year-- it's my 3rd month with no pre order since January (I feel so fcking proud and idk why haha) but the urge to order or to buy on hand figures is just so hard to kill 😩 what do you advice I should do to control my urges ghad. It's actually very hard.
I would agree but unless your not financially stable, too many figures on the low end scale for me doesnt look appealing. Just depends if your cheap figurines are the ones that actually look cheap or not
Omg I could totally relate to that last part, It definitely is an addiction once you get one I started to sort mine by only getting figures from anime’s I’ve watch and would limit myself to get my favorite characters but cheaper it definitely helps!
Something I only realized after starting collecting is that these figure's gather a lot of dust and can be hard to clean, especially figure's with a lot of details. Now if you only have a couple figure's this isn't that bad but as the collection grows it starts to become a bit of a pain. As such I highly recommend getting a display case. There are a lot of different types from big ones to ones you can place on a desk. I got one that i can put on my desk that fits about 9 regular sized figure's around half a year ago. I've not had to clean the figure's inside yet while the ones outside i need to clean almost every month.
8:22 For some who have a lot of storage space (like me who’s entire back wall is filled with pre-built shelves), you don’t always have to have a theme. Just dedicate specific parts of your storage to certain characters. If you really want to have a theme but want to have figures out of your theme too, put your main figures on the first display people see and dedicate the other less right-in-your-face areas to figures not accustomed to your branding. What I do is put figures that aren’t pink on my back shelves, and dedicate my desk & transparent display shelves to my pink shelves, since my room has a mainly pink theme.
I love this idea! This is a good idea for new collectors that has a lot of space. It's not limiting the figure choices as much as those with little to no space >.< Might wanna add that less favorite figures be displayed with mangas/books in bookshelves and shrines in glass cabinets. Nowadays, thats what i do haha!
Your video is not only nice and entertaining, but it appears that *considerable* work went into the selection of anime clips used to accompany and illustrate your narrative; the clips are very much in keeping with your dialogue at virtually every moment. I am curious -- how much time did it take for you to find and excerpt all those scenes, and how long to complete the entire video?
Awwee this is so sweet. Thank you so much. This really wants me to make more effort 💕💕 Usually, it takes me 2-3 days since I also have an 8 hrs work shift. But when I'm feeling extra motivated I could get it done in a day. ☺️ Again, thank you so much. It really means a lot to me when someone appreciates my work. Thank you so~ 💞
@@JennySupremo You're certainly welcome, and I'm very happy if I encouraged you, though all I did was tell it like it was. I keep a fairly comprehensive library of scenes in my head, though not for illustrative purposes in the manner in which you employed the clips -- but it's still remarkable how very well you fit scenes to your discussion. I must ask again, though: did the right scenes just pop into your head, or did you spend time searching for them? Is every clip from a show you've seen, or not? Thanks for your reply; I'm very curious!
Most of the scenes/gif I used were already familiar to me as I watch anime as well but some just pops into my head but I can't pinpoint what's the perfect gif for it so I just search the actions/gif I wish to go with my words. If that ever made sense? 🤦🏻♀️🤣
I don't tend to buy anime figures, but if I really love a character or series then I will get it. I recently won an auction on ebay of the Tanjiro and Nezuko sibling bonds figure. And I love it. Got it at such a great price. Going to buy more merch of them. When it comes to collecting the most important thing is to love what you buy and try not to buy just for collection's sake.
SPOT ON! This is so true -- buy what you love and not just for collection's sake. Unfortunately, I only learned this later on my figure collecting journey. Until now, i have not bounced back with my depleted finances haha!
The last tipp just hit home, but also so difficult in the beginning, there are so many nice figures. Luckily, I do try to think a long time about whether I should get this figure or not. And I totally agree with the shipping prices, it is awfull, I spend way to much on shipping... And congrats on 1K Subs! ^^
I wish I put more thought into what I was buying when I started out. At first I just got whatever I could because it was new and exciting, with no thought given to where i'd actually put them or how i'd want to display them.
I have more anime figure tips/guide type videos in case you need them hehe th-cam.com/play/PLraEtjHKKj0yxwpJLk68Cr4bivEOxwlnj.html But anyway, I'm glad the video was informative to you 🌟 Goodluck on your figure collecting journey 💕
I'm so glad you focused your main collection on hatsune Miku, she's definitely the main reason I discovered you and yas miku 4 life. Thanks for sharing all this information, I really appreciate you.
I managed to avoid 4 out of 5 problems thanks to group collective orders and auctions. I'm also not picky about composition. However, THE LAST POINT IS THE MOST DIFFICULT. I have started collecting recently, but I already have more than 30 figurines on my waiting list :_)
Haha! I was once there too when I was still starting. It quickly drained my savings tho so I stopped as soon as I was about to run broke 😁😂 it's okay. Don't worry. It's always nice to buy anime figures here and there and test what figures you want the most. You never know, along the way, you might see some favourites and make a shrine out of those characters 😊😊
OmO Whoa! Thank you! 🙇♀️❤ Welcome to figure collecting and I hope my other videos would help you as well. What are your planned figure collection? Do you wanna aim for a specific figure shrine or just random figures? 🤔
@@JennySupremo I really fell in love with Nendoroids so I'm trying to get the Konosuba line and my Chainsaw Man fav characters. Then I will move on to other series I like. I know it can get pretty chaotic as they keep releasing stuff (I'm so excited for the Oshi no Ko figures that have been announced), but I'll stick to my favorite series and be a little picky about the sculpt. I'll keep looking for your real vs fake Nendoroids series since I want some I arrived late for and you are a great help to avoid scams!🙌
Ohhh nendoroids!! Speaking of, I have this new video, a mobile application for nendo collectors. You might be interested ✌️ th-cam.com/video/do2RUohLSdU/w-d-xo.html
You better be picky. Recently there were a lot of figure releases so it's gonna cost you a lot if you try and buy all the goods 😂 it might feel overwhelming esp since you're still starting your collection.
Its really hard for me financially collecting both anime figures and video games but seeing them growing makes me happy. Been a collector for a decade now.
Same here. I'm actually toning down my figure collecting since my finances are taking damage haha! Aside from figures I also tend to spend on games. And also big expenses over food. It's hard to decide to continue the hobby or not haha
Great collection and tips. Fellow Miku fan also kaso wala pa akong figure ni isa, more on Project Diva games. Sana ok na by next year, nakakamiss pumunta sa mga anime/toy conventions.
Thank you for the tips! As a new collector, I've quickly found that the addiction is indeed VERY REAL. It feels like I'm building an army in my bedroom, and I just wanna make it stronger and stronger and stronger by snatching up every single figure that I love. Luckily, my spending didn't get mega crazy out of control before I realized that I definitely needed to start limiting myself to certain things. Like you, I'm still gonna occasionally buy some out-of-theme figures, but now I'm mainly focusing on just One Piece figures and Nendoroids
Good for you. I'm still doing some irresponsible figure purchases sometimes haha! It's like giving out advices but not practicing what I'm saying 🤸♀️🤸♀️🤸♀️ Anyway, I hope you enjoy your figure collecting journey! Goodluck tho since you picked One Piece, it's gonna be a real challenge to stop yourself from buying some figures. This series has crap tons of figures from different figure lines myglob. 😂
Good solid tips, I would only add this one thing: some of it is trial & error. Some things you only find out through getting them and discovering certain things yourself. In some cases the company is brand new, in some cases this one figure has issues while ther previous ones had 0 issues. I do agree, the single most important aspect to anime figures is information: study the subject, compare, research, do the homework to get the best quality and the best prices.
I've been collecting anime figures for years but my collection consists of 6 figures but I'm incredibly picky which characters I get and which figures I like. If the figure doesn't convince me immediately I don't get it. Thank you very much for this video it is very informative. I never even considered joining groups before.
Hi! Thank you so much for dropping by. It's actually flattering to receive this kind of compliment from a veteran at collecting figures already. If you don't mind, what is your collection's theme? Any specific characters or series?
@@JennySupremo I mostly collect fate figures but I have two that don't really fit in with my theme. Also I wouldn't call me a veteran. I'm probably less experienced than you. I never got scammed on anime figures (Probably has something to do with my card collecting experience) or met other people who are also collecting anime figures.
Hmmm. Personally I'd still consider you a veteran since you've been collecting for years already 😉 I'm surprised you only got few figures despite getting into FATE
@@JennySupremo I'm actually surprised myself because I really like fate figures but that's probably me nitpicking at every single detail there is (a remnant of my weird perfectionist personality when I was little). There are times when I look at my small collection and I ask myself, why did I buy this figure again. Then I get the box to put the figure away only to sit there for half an hour thinking only to return the figure to where it stood before afterwards. Because just looking at them I could pretty much do the same with a picture but feeling the weight of the figure in my hand turning it around is just an entirely different thing. Thats probably also why I bought most of them at conventions. Another reason might be my allowance when I started collecting figures. I usually had to safe up for months to buy the ones I liked (considering they weren't completely out of reach) and even though I have more money to spend now I kind of retained that mindset so most of the ones I like still feel like their out of my reach like I can't get them.
I think my tip is keep the box. Doesn't matter if prize or not, keep the box and even the plastic wrap. You never know when you might need to store a figure or even sell a figure. Keeping the original box will save you in the long run. Only problem with keeping the boxes is storage unless you display them (which some owners do). Even prize figures I keep the boxes for since there is no way to re-store them regardless
When I finally found an anime figure I wanted, it turned out it was out of stock on all reliable shopping sites and three to four times the price (or more!) on unreliable ones. But this gives me time to figure out space and the type of figures I want to collect. I love the aesthetic style of the Mikus you collected.
Thank you. Price hike usually happens on popular characters and mostly rare figures. My only advice is to be on look out during pre order period. That way you won't have to spend as much as when the figure officially comes out 👌🏻
@@JennySupremo do you have any advice on finding pre-owned figures way after their release date? Or how to keep up on which figures are being released for pre-order? I tend to get into series way after the hype and merch are released, and I’d love to avoid that situation in the future lol
What I do is follow other social media accounts/pages of my suppliers.. most figure sellers, even Amiami, has either Facebook or Instagram accounts and they post new figures both up coming and onhand regularly. It's how I check of there are figures that I might like.

Finding pre owned figures are risky and hard. 1. The figure you're looking for might have a lot of counterfeits or the seller might scam you. It doesn't happen all the time but there are a lot of cases that it does. 2. The price might be too high compared to pre order price. If it's okay to wait, I believe it's best to wait for a pre order re run. Or atleast give yourself more time so you could find more than 1 option. There are places like Amiami pre owned stuff or solarisJapan or Yahoo auctions. I don't use them but I have friends who did and they found some of the figures that were already out in the market for a long time
The most important thing to know though, imo, is that you shouldn't pay too much attention to people obsessed with "quality". Of course higher price figures are higher quality, but "higher quality" doesn't actually mean that the cheap figures aren't good. You don't need to be spending hundreds of pounds per figure to have a great experience, and there's diminishing returns on the relationship between price and satisfaction. I've been collecting for 10 years now, have a pretty wide range of figure values, and to this day, half of my top ten favourite figures are humble noodle toppers.
Years ago when i first stared collecting figures i bought 3 Hatsune Miku figures for a very low price from vendors at a collectables store. Months later after research i later found out those figures i bought were actually bootlegs. But thanks to that experience i now know what i need to look for if i buy figures from a vendor.
Way way back, I bought my first set of anime figures from a mall. The gang from lucky star. I even bragged them to my weeb friends too. Turns out they were fake. 😭 Got some EXP tho just like you 😊
I want to ask if the KO that you bought has a markings of a manufacturer on its base, i dont know if the ones i got is authentic but it has a marking on its base, so i want to know if its possible that even bootlegs have fake manufacturer markings. Thank you
I already sold my Tanjiro and I can confirm it did not have any kind of manufacturer marks whatsoever. For my other K Os, I can't tell anymore since most of them are already lost and the ones that remained don't have any base anymore.
New figure collector here! I’m actually more interested in the garage kit side of things and love 3d printing so being able to make my own figs at custom scale and pay artists for custom designs has been extremely welcome!
OMG That's cool! With the limited figure poses or variations and characters made into figures, this is such a cool idea. If only I can do this lol. I'm too lazy to do anything haha! But Kudos to you and your idea buddy! Glad you also find artists to do your figures justice. What are your recent 3d figures?
99% of the chat: Thanks the creator Me: *notices PHP*... wait SHE'S A FILIPINO... FINALLY! A RELATABLE CHANNEL! Oh yes thank you so much T-T finding figures (especially NGNL) is a pain in the aaa here in the Philippines because it's either too expensive or bootlegs. Filipino moms are scary as hell so I understand you haha! Also totoo. Ngnl is definitely expensive it's crazy!!! Wala Rin sila gaano prize figures. Most phat pa manufacturer nila, Mahal masyado mga figures Ng phat eh. Yung nendos nila almost rare pa. Hirap 😭😭

It's always nice to make it a goal and when time comes, you'll be able to buy that one figure you really want, it will surely give you so much satisfaction 😩💘🤗 update me if you can 😉
Thank you for the tips! That's very interesting, I'm focusing on Miku, sailor moon and madoka, well I try x). But I notice that on aliexpress there are miku's figures and some looks real with the pictures in the comments! So do you thinks that aliexpress can seal actual real figure? That's suprising but I'm wondering 🤔But for the moment I buy my figures on amazon japan!
I believe it's possible any seller could steal real photos and put them up as items they sell despite the items being fake. It usually happens on sites like AliExpress, eBay, amazon, etc. We just have to be careful. If you're really not sure about the credibility of the item or the seller, it's better to purchase on official websites like Amiami than risking your money on fake figures >.
@@JennySupremo ohhh ok I see thank you! But I'm french so I buy my figures only most of the time on amazon japan, it's really safe and the price for the shipping is great!
If you're satisfied with your shopping, shipping fee, quality and service of where you currently get your anime figures, then I think it's best to stick with it. Unless you have extra cash and you wanna try other websites or sellers 😊 wish you luck on your collection too~ 🌟
I'm 4 years into figure collecting and i'm still trying my best to hold my temptations but sometimes--- your alter ego will just order figures for you hahaha!
I recently started collecting and so far my theme is fav bois. I have a Sanji, Vegito and Kakashi. Eventually i want to branch out but money is tight. My brother definitely fell quick into the figure collecting and convinced me into doing as well. However, i have a bigger break between figure purchases than he does (like fifty prepurchases in a year and a back log of another fifty yet to be delivered).
Thanks Thea! That's a good strategy. To only focus on specific series or characters especially since you're a nendoroid collector. They always release adorable nendos and it could tempt you every time. It's good you have discipline-- I don't tho haha sadxxx
Its wild bc nowadays a lot of figure prices go down after release bc with how expensive prices have gotten a lot of people have slowed or stopped collecting so theres less demand and prices end up dropping. Not all figures drop but i feel like a lot more do nowadays
Surprisingly, I don't feel this. haha! It's getting harder to buy nendoroids and even the swimsuit theme scaled figures are far from the prices they had before. T__T Tho you're right about the less demand. I see collectors slowing down since 2021. Heck even me-- I plan to also stop by next year. My main figure shrine is getting too expensive for me :'(
Until now haha! But my finances got depleted. it's a very addicting hobby and I was also bad at controlling myself. It's just super hard yknow!?! Especially since they release so many good looking figures every dang month. Plus there are also older figures (holy grails) that are also soooo tempting. >.< this is a very dangerous rabbit hole haha!
There was one store I went to with my mom looking for anime figurines and as I was looking at them something felt off. It wasn’t until my mom straight up said “her face looks weird” to a Lumine figurine that I immediately noticed eye positions, missing bang pieces, and unmarked boxes with random pieces of arms and swords thrown inside on all of their figurines. Maybe places purposely sell knock offs but a knock off Ganyu for $120 seems like a lot lmao
Either they know they're selling knock offs and priced them that high thinking it were authentic oooorrrrr they already know and they still price it that expensive regardless. But good job mom for noticing the terrible figure details. 👏🏻🌟
Yaaay! Welcome to the hobby 🥳🎊 I hope you have fun! All your choices are good and currently, demon slayer is being spoiled by both Goodsmile and bandai so you can have tons of choices for the figures ✨ Here are other videos that might help you as well if you're interested ☺️ th-cam.com/play/PLraEtjHKKj0yxwpJLk68Cr4bivEOxwlnj.html
I buy my figures on Amazon or from Japanese stores with figures. I avoid buying from sellers with fake brand names, copy and paste description with a emoji at the beginning (eg this description I found that went along like this or sonething :♥️ Miku desktop Display) I also I avoid ones with spammed user names and look at the box in the photos too see if it's the real box. Also I try to avoid ones that don't include the brand maker in the title or if the title is long that seemes a bit too suspicious
I have the same problem with space. Whenever we try to clear out as much as we can, because we keep buying anyway, it just won't get solved. haha! I have no idea how to solve this yet so you're very welcome to give us any advice since I think all figure collectors has this dilemma as well . ;)
My Anime Figures now has a dedicated room. solving my #1 problem which was storage. Nowadays I only buy figures of the series I am most interested in and do my research beforehand. To all beginners or starting with their collection my only tip is like in the video: Expensive doesnt mean better.
this is so helpful!! thank you! I recently went to a figure store near me and I noticed they were retailing nendoroids at $80-$100 dollars (CAD).... price gougers man! so I went home and bought one of the same ones for $57 CAD! W
Good deal you got there! I think these things are more expensive in physical shops because they already paid including the shipping or they're not official partner distributors(?) As long as what you got was authentic, all is good 💖
@@JennySupremo I live in Finland. I have bought couple figures here, but the selection is small. I mean, there's only couple of manga series that have been translated to Finnish. It wouldn't be a problem to me, except that the imported manga is very expensive.
English translated mangas are very expensive from where I live too. We are very fortunate to have a wide selection of anime figures Tho. Have you tried browsing from kurogami?

I just started figure collecting this year but I'm pretty surprised I actually do many of these things already XD I guess it comes from years of buying other merch but, i still really liked the video!! :3
Awwwwee I feel flattered you watched my video despite being a veteran at collecting already. Thank you so much. If you have more tips or advice to share with us, especially newbies to this hobby, don't be shy to tell us ---please? 😉
Started my figure collection last February. First fig was PUP Dazai then Chuuya because I wanted them both so badly lol. Then collected FAZ figures of Gilg and Eresh and PUP of Saber Alter and Nero. Initially wanted to stick to Fate and them BSD boys but I saw Miku (rip me) though I'm convincing myself that the pre-ordered Mikus will be the last for that character lol. So finally decided that I'll just be collecting my favorite male characters from now on which will save me a lot of space (defo not so much financial-wise since I'm eyeing on scale figs) since there are fewer of them.
FATE is an expensive rabbit hole so best be careful hahahaha! That line is even more expensive than Miku IMO. 😬🤣 But we still collect them for the love 😌❤️ it's late but congratulations on starting your figure collecting hobby this year! I hope you won't get bored right away~ it's always fun to meet new figure collectors. Feels somewhat refreshing to this old auntie hahaha
Pre owned are always good to buy especially if you buy them from 1. Good sellers 2. They're in good conditions. I myself own a lot of pre owned figures. The problem is, sometimes, bad people sell pre owns in such a high price knowing its condition and some newbies fall for it >.
As a kid after getting into anime there were figures I wanted but after a while of just day dreaming if I were to have them, I thought to myself after the excitement of getting them, thats it... there just there. And from there, I never really had a need to buy them. As a kid, I bought 1 figure for $20 clearance. And into adulthood, I have 17 figures. 2 were between $130-$300, most were under $20 and some were gifts. There is a set of figures That I would really love to have but unfortunately they were sold limited like 6 years ago (before I knew about them)and cost as much as my monthly paycheck.... and because of the pandemic I only have enough to get by.
thank you so much for this i started my collection in august since then ive collected 10 figures the last tip i never thought of i think i will be sticking to a hatsune miku and nendoroid theme!
Whooaaa!!! 10 figures and not even 6 months yet. That's great! I remember when I was still starting it was a struggle to buy more than one within a month or few more months because I honestly thought even the prize figures were too expensive. 3 years later, I finally have 3 shelves. Hehe. I can sense you'll be able to do that very soon too. Just do it moderately tho. There are a loooooot of tempting figures out there and it's gonna be hard to do self control. Especially since you're into Miku figure collecting as well. All I could say is best of luck my friend 😉
I usually buy only pre-owned these days. The aftermarket is typically decent for many figures, and if you don't mind waiting, somebody will try to get rid of the figure you want for cheap. But there are some exceptions, where I regret not ordering the figure, in most cases it's hard to get the figure if it released years ago and there is no re-release in sight and other figures can be just expensive since they are sought after/rare. Either way, I think with how hard some of the recent releases binned in the aftermarket, it seems like quite the risk to pre-order now. And the fact that yen is struggling right now may seem like a good thing for buyers overseas, but they just keep raising the price tags on figures and I think there is some inflation going on, like many of the figures are overpriced when getting released. But even when buying pre-owned one must be very careful since there are also scammers and one advantage you have when you buy from a store is that they can probably help you out when you've received a damaged figure. Something else I've been noticing is that Chinese manufacturers are getting better and better at producing their own figures (not bootlegs!) so soon many collectors will may switch over to Chinese figures since are very cheap sometimes, but pretty good quality.
can confirm all the tips lol. i won't call myself a 'collector' or anything. i never bought or collected them at all. but one day, i just wanted a figurine to sit inside my PC cuz why not... so i did some research and went to the a mall where they have many *many* figurine stores. didn't wanna online because 1) to avoid scams 2) to avoid waiting and possible shipping damage. it was my first time being to a mall dedicated to figures also first time buying a figure. it was really overwhelming when you see endless shelves and shelves of figurines... i walked around in awe for about almost 2 hours... just to get 1 sitting pose figure... ... ... then somehow i came home with 3 figures -.- and now i keep wanting more... so the last tip, guys, don't start unless you're ready. it is somehow very addicting xD
Thanks for the pre order tips! I usually only buy what sparks 'joy' and try to buy my favorite character. Which rn is Hatsune Miku. And I usually wait till Christmas or my birthday to buy them.
@@JennySupremo Cool, heres 1. If you are thinking long term and money making collecting and if you have the money to do it, buy 2 of every figure you purchase while its cheap and not yet circulated. One of the figures will obviously be yours to enjoy and the other you keep unopened and in good condition. You will be surprised on how much a figure's value will rise. For example, I bought a figure for under $200 and now it goes for $400-500! Your investment will pay for both plus a little money in your pocket!!!
Hey! This is actually an awesome idea! I never knew this was the purpose of buying more figures of the same product. We had a friend that does exactly the same and I always wondered why he bought 2 or 3 more of the exact figure. Hmmmm. Knew to me. Thank you
The resell market in this hobby is insane. There are often ebay listings with double/triple price tag for figures that haven't even exited the pre-order phase! But collectors will pay these prices anyway, so all they have to do is sell one listing to validate those insane inflations.
True haha! That's why if I want something I really place it on pre order because I don't want any regrets later on lol. I on the other hand sell my figures below pre order price. Sometimes even half 🤣🤣🤣 y'know. Just helpin other collectors out there lol
Unfortunately I don't have a video of that yet but it's already in my line up. My newest upload is all about the different types of anime figures but I'm considering pushing that idea earlier than I planned it to be. There seems to be a lot of questions of where and how to buy anime figures so expect a video with that content soon. Thank you so much for subbing 🤗🤗
@@JennySupremo my fiancé and I buy from a local shop. Probably the only one in the state and they have limited selection. All the good stuff is prices too high and not a lot to choose from. I am left to buy from amazon as most of these online stores will never give me the amount due when I buy. Not a fan of that. I did give bigbadtoy a shot and preordered some thing. Guess I’ll have to start a figure account and not use it for anything but that lol. Your video helped a lot.
Well, given the limited financial resources, we don't have much of a choice but to funnel out the figures/characters that mean a lot to us compared to others out in the market. That way, we can save money. This is why I always recommend choosing figure lines/specific series or atleast a character shrine. It's gonna set your collection straight and you won't have a lot of regretful buys. Hehe
My father recently bought me a 24 dollar an hatsune miku figure for pre-order and the price of taxes+shipping came out to 30 dollars , I was pretty much broke after that and needed more money ! So I'm glad I saw this video too , and prepare more money!( I paid him back when he bought it for me since I don't have a credit card or a account 😅)
Wow! You paid your father for it? Glad your father supports your hobby! Happy for you! 🤗🤗 Just buy figures in moderation. Maybe make it a goal to buy 1 figure per year for your achievements or birthdays and then gradually increase it when you get extra cash/income 💖
Thank you for this! I have a couple of figures and want to get a new shelf case and I still have trouble knowing whether or not a figure is fake! 😅 I just recently started saving up for multiple figure and so far I’m doing good! Thank you for this information!
You're welcome. I'm so happy for your positive response and I hope this video helps you somehow. It's nice to know your anime figure collecting journey is moving forward smoothly. Also if you're getting a new shelf, I suggest you buy glass case cabinets instead of the open wood kind materials. It will protect your figures more and you will have lesser times of dusting your figures too 😉
Awesome! Glad to know we have a new member in the anime loving community (づ。◕‿‿◕。)づ Who's the Tohru you're referring to? The dragon or the animal loving shoujo protagonist 😸😸
Hmmmm. It's gonna be a bit hard to find her figure. It's been a while since the release and it probably costs a bit expensive now. I'm not sure but I think there are only 2 figures of her character as of the moment(?)
@@JennySupremo That's what I've seen as well. maybe with season 2 there might be some more stuff to come out. I have no idea. It's tough to justify a 500 statue even one as cute as that.
Lucky me that i have a japanese friend that take for me all the figure I want for 1/4 of the price or less if they are second hand directly in japan! they are sooo cheap especially the price figure! Compared to the price on the most famous online shops... Price figure off season can go from 10 to 5/4 dollar in japan lol
TRRRRUUUEEE!!! This is why when I wanna buy a prize figure, I wait for a few months from their release date and then buy pre owned figures direct from Japan. Altho most of the time, they don't come with a good box anymore haha
@@JennySupremo that's also true but figure it self are like new...I couldn't care more honestly when I get a figure for 4 dollar that's like new...the last one I did get was rem from re zero red hoodie from FURYU second hand only 4 dollar and I got ram too for the same price !!!! It's crazy how cheap they get some month's after the release
Honestly I’m not new to figure collecting so I knew all these advice from my own experience but the laSt one. I’ve reached that point in time now where I’m torn between black cat bishoujo + joker ikemen or a bunch of anime girl preorders. And my worry is the money and space and the advice to stick to a theme is a bit of a slap on the face but great advice cuz my figure collection is 99% cutie pretty anime girls 😔😔
Hi Mira! I'm honestly very flattered that you watched my video despite being a veteran at this hobby already. Thank you so much 🥰 your collection is dope too. All hail bishoujos 👁️👄👁️👌
More than 1 figure? I think you can consider yourself a collector already. We have different figure collection sizes anyway. 😉👌 What are your figures atm if you don't mind? Oh also thank you for the compliment hehe
The most important advice: COMPARE PRICES! COMPARE PRICES! COMPARE PRICES! There are huge differences in price depending on where you buy and many sellers to choose from. Some US distributors will literally double the prices on some figures. I overpaid on my first few figures because I didn't know the best place to buy from (usually it's amiami). Also: the preorder model might be confusing to some people. If you really want a figure, you'll have to preorder it. There is no guarantee that you will be able to buy it once it's released. Certain popular figures will get re-runs and in some cases it can be smart to wait for these rather than pay sky-high aftermarket prices.
This is true! Until now I still fall for this trap sometimes. Esp if it's a figure I really dig, I jump to it right away forgetting about the price comparison >.
Thank you! I hope you enjoyed the video~ there are more videos that might help you, idk if you already know but I have a playlist for possible figure tips/guide: th-cam.com/play/PLraEtjHKKj0yxwpJLk68Cr4bivEOxwlnj.html Incase you need it. I can buy figures in person! :D I'm a new figure collector. Currently have 1 QPosket uraraka, SEVERAL MIKU'S, 2 Rem, 1 Ram, 1 Bootleg Sakura Miku, and 8 Funko Pops. It's going great so far. Just the fact all of my money from from my McDonalds pay.
I make sure I buy from the official retailers and I ALWAYS avoid scalpers (the room wear Miku from last year has been scalped for $80!!!) The Amazon fakes are so rampant too!! Thank goodness my 4 Mikus and my one Sagiri Izumi are real. I almost bought some fakes and I’m glad I trusted my better judgment.
It's always better to double check figure prices and shops to avoid such scalpers. Also, it's true that amazon is infested with fake sellets T^T) This is why i always tell those who ask me about buying from there to avoid it as much as possible. :V
Heeeellloooo!!! It's been 3 months and I just noticed your comment idk why it didn't show up in my notif. I'm really sorry. I know this is a late response but no it's not a cast off. Unfortunately lol
Hola! Thanks for the tips, it will be of great help to the new fellas going into this world, big minds think the same, time ago when I started collecting , I thought just like you explained in this video, and my waifus army is growing and growing, and of course a lot of mikus are in there, peace be with you, have a nice day!
@@JennySupremo yes, I'm still collecting, and there is a beautiful Miku on the way ,Miku Shaohua, made by Myethos , and there are some great figures around.....i'm sorry wallet! See you in the next video!
The Looooord knows how much I wanted that figure but it wasn't offered in my country by my supplier 😭😭😭😭 I'll be forever jealous of you People who got to place her in pre order. Sigh. That means I'll be saving a lot of unboxing and video reviews when she comes out haha
True. That's why it's best to order from legit websites. Nowadays, there are a lot of small time figure shops so it's better to tread carefully when trying to place pre orders or any order actually.
Thank you so much for the awesome video! I just started getting into anime figurine and was wondering what shops u like to buy from the most?? So far I’ve used AmiAmi, OtakuHouse and a few Australian stores...
Unfortunately, as much as I want to refer shops, the ones where I buy my figures from doesn't ship internationally. I live in the Philippines so I buy my figures over Facebook shops. You buy from Amiami already and it's the most trusted shop I could ever recommend 😊❤️❤️
@@rainycloud7328 I suggest look for shops that are closest to you. Shops that have lots of experience on selling anime figures and with proofs of legitimacy already. You can never trust on the number of likes alone. (Shops usually are in "Facebook pages" form. I hope this makes sense? Hehe)
I wish to start a collection (Hatsune Miku if ur wondering!), does somebody know a trustable site to start with cheap (like they don't cost from 100€ or more) figurines? Every help is highly appreciated!
I'll just try and pin this post for a while. Unfortunately I can't recommend any international shop ATM selling cheaper Mikus
@@JennySupremo Ok thanks a lot!
also, i think amazon JP sell authentic figures, but honestly i'd stay away as a new collector. western amazon is riddled with fakes to my knowledge.
hi! i recently discovered solaris japan (shown at 1:34 ), ordered an AMP taito Alice figure from there ^^ the taito, furyu and sega figures are pretty cheap (this is because they are 'prize' figures, ones that you could win from a claw machine or something), but i can't talk about the quality myself haha
That's actually a good strategy and I think it's sweet and thoughtful too. 💞 It will give more sentimental value to your figures.
@@JennySupremo Exactly! It really makes you love your collection 😊

SAME!!!!
It makes me angry because I sold something on Ebay for about 200 dollars but my parents won't transfer the money to my account >:^
@@meliooj5257 well it's a combination of multiple things, one I've been collecting figures since I was like 8 so I think my parents don't want me to blow all of my money at once. It's also a lil bit of anxiety, I don't talk to my parents as much as I'd like to so it's hard to ask for favors

I fell for the fake anime figures a couple times and I can’t relate more, also seeing Keroro in the title card makes me so happy~
It is a little more adult than the show, but it is so funny and it's actually still going until this day~
Really? Oh I'd love to! Thank you for suggesting the manga. I will try and read it 😊
For European collectors: don't forget u have to pay taxes and possible expensive custom fees when you buy in Japan. Nowadays it's better for me to buy figures in the cheapest European shops

I only focus on the Konosuba series and Love is War
That's a good start and a cool collection especially Konosuba. They already have s fair amount of anime figures ❤️
8:22
For some who have a lot of storage space (like me who’s entire back wall is filled with pre-built shelves), you don’t always have to have a theme.
This really wants me to make more effort 💕💕
Usually, it takes me 2-3 days since I also have an 8 hrs work shift. But when I'm feeling extra motivated I could get it done in a day. ☺️

You're certainly welcome, and I'm very happy if I encouraged you, though all I did was tell it like it was.

You my friend, are amazing! I can never imagine myself controlling my urges on buying my main shrine. 😔 But you got to do it with discipline whoa! 👏👏

Finally a cultured one :)

Oh yes thank you so much T-T finding figures (especially NGNL) is a pain in the aaa here in the Philippines because it's either too expensive or bootlegs. With the help of your video, I finally found and bought my dream figure T-T All I need is a hiding space coz my mom will smack the heck out of me when she found it T-T
Filipino moms are scary as hell so I understand you haha! Also totoo. Ngnl is definitely expensive it's crazy!!! Wala Rin sila gaano prize figures. Most phat pa manufacturer nila, Mahal masyado mga figures Ng phat eh. Yung nendos nila almost rare pa. Hirap 😭😭

Wag Ka Dun sa carousel. Definitely over priced items dun 🤦🏻♀️ I even saw someone selling Taki and Mitsuha for 50k jusmio

You're welcome. I'm glad my video was helpful to you. Also, welcome to anime figure collecting 🤗 your wallet isn't safe now 🤣
Thank you for the tips!
Also I'm happy for you and your collections. If only I had more money, I would also love to collect more magical girls. 😭😭😩

ARE HORRIBLE LOOKING AS HECK
That last part is true. I bought two figures last week and then bought two more this week. Im trying to keep a hold over my self control.
That's a lot of figures TBH. 🤯
This is why I mostly buy from GSC partner stores and only focus on specific series/characters 😭
I'm a nendoroid collector (qwq
Very informative video!
Thanks Thea! That's a good strategy. To only focus on specific series or characters especially since you're a nendoroid collector. They always release adorable nendos and it could tempt you every time. It's good you have discipline-- I don't tho haha sadxxx
Thanks for the tips!
Also nice collection
Oh and I agree shipping especially to iceland is such a pain 😅
Shipping feels like crap right after pandemic happened. It's such a struggle for figure collectors T^T)~
I’m new in figure collection. I will take only Miku for now and my favourite so I hope I won’t drown… thanks for the advices!
My main figure shrine is getting too expensive for me :'(
I'm so related in the part where u got addicted buying a anime figure just looking at them makes me want to buy it
Until now haha! But my finances got depleted. it's a very addicting hobby and I was also bad at controlling myself. It's just super hard yknow!?! Especially since they release so many good looking figures every dang month. Plus there are also older figures (holy grails) that are also soooo tempting. >.< this is a very dangerous rabbit hole haha!
your vid is sooo relatable!! i just started this hobby 2 mos ago and i feel like i cant stop myself from ordering 😩😩
haha! same feeling when i was still starting. surely, you'll slow down once you notice the lack of space. Keep the passion burning tho! Fighting!~
I’m starting my collection and it’s so exciting ;D thanks for this video I’m focusing on Jujutsu Kaisen, Naruto, Demon Slayer, and Tokyo Revengers ;D

This is me just with gunpla. A couple of years ago it was just a couple kits. Now I'm running out of shelf space and still want more.
"expensive doesn't mean better" IS SOOOOO TRUE 🌟🌟🌟 Some cheaper figures look even better TBH.
Thanks! I am new and I will try to keep these things in mind

Yeah I already have some of the ones I wanted to get and was thinking of pre ordering some
this is so helpful!! thank you! I recently went to a figure store near me and I noticed they were retailing nendoroids at $80-$100 dollars (CAD).... price gougers man! so I went home and bought one of the same ones for $57 CAD! W
Good deal you got there! I think these things are more expensive in physical shops because they already paid including the shipping or they're not official partner distributors(?) As long as what you got was authentic, all is good 💖
Shipping is the big one. I live in Europe, and ordered a figure from America. The shipping costed 40 USD.
FORTY DOLLARS! FOR SHIPPING!
That's like buying a figure damn 😖 have you tried looking for anime figure retailers from you country perhaps? I bet there might be atleast 1?

Wow thank you too. It flutters me when I help someone with my video. 😊🥺
I always liked pre-owned. Might not be new, but they are affordable and usually in decent condition.

I just pre-ordered my first nendoroid! I pre-ordered Tsukishima Kei from Haikyuu!! I can’t wait for him to arrive 😭🥹
I wonder, 11 months later, how many nendoroids do you have now ^___^
@@JennySupremo I have almost all the Haikyuu nendoroids now hehe ☺️
True. I used to really love Good smile. Most of my figures are from them. Recently I'm falling for MYETHOS. Quality figures affordable prices
can confirm all the tips lol. i won't call myself a 'collector' or anything. i never bought or collected them at all.
but one day, i just wanted a figurine to sit inside my PC cuz why not... so i did some research and went to the a mall where they have many *many* figurine stores. didn't wanna online because 1) to avoid scams 2) to avoid waiting and possible shipping damage.
it was my first time being to a mall dedicated to figures also first time buying a figure. it was really overwhelming when you see endless shelves and shelves of figurines...
i walked around in awe for about almost 2 hours... just to get 1 sitting pose figure... ... ... then somehow i came home with 3 figures -.-
and now i keep wanting more...
so the last tip, guys, don't start unless you're ready. it is somehow very addicting xD
Hahaha! Ohhh you got charmed my friend xD
Thanks for the pre order tips!
I usually only buy what sparks 'joy' and try to buy my favorite character. Which rn is Hatsune Miku. And I usually wait till Christmas or my birthday to buy them.
Yaaay~ thank you for giving Miku a chance 🌟❤️

Hi! Thank you so much for dropping by. It's good to meet another collector 🤗🤗 we'd love to hear more tips from you too if you have more to share. 💖💖
You covered all my concerns. I like. I subbed! Thank you. Can you or do you have a video of online shops that are good to buy from?
Unfortunately I don't have a video of that yet but it's already in my line up.

The thing that worry’s me the most is holding off on buying a expensive figure I really like then the preorder ending and I’ll never be able to get it
Well, given the limited financial resources, we don't have much of a choice but to funnel out the figures/characters that mean a lot to us compared to others out in the market. That way, we can save money. This is why I always recommend choosing figure lines/specific series or atleast a character shrine. It's gonna set your collection straight and you won't have a lot of regretful buys. Hehe

as a person in australia, $10 USD is standard for any shipping unless you have amazon prime or something
Nowadays, that's the standard already. Even higher I think since the price for fuel went up 😭

Amazing video I'm new to the scene and just preorder my first statue yesterday!! Just had to Subcribe and leave a like thanks, this was so helpful!
Thank you! I hope you enjoyed the video~ there are more videos that might help you, idk if you already know but I have a playlist for possible figure tips/guide:

Incase you need it. But anyway, CONGRATULATIONS on starting this hobby. Let's go broke in happiness altogether 🤣🌟💕
I can buy figures in person! :D
I'm a new figure collector.
Love that super sonico libra version is that a cast off :)
Hello Jun! Thanks for dropping by. I'm glad to see another Miku collector here. Are you still Collecting till this day?
@@JennySupremo yes, I'm still collecting, and there is a beautiful Miku on the way ,Miku Shaohua, made by Myethos , and there are some great figures around.....i'm sorry wallet! See you in the next video!
The Looooord knows how much I wanted that figure but it wasn't offered in my country by my supplier 😭😭😭😭 I'll be forever jealous of you People who got to place her in pre order. Sigh. That means I'll be saving a lot of unboxing and video reviews when she comes out haha
when i saw the currency i know i need to sub. :)) like your accent btw. keep it up
Salamat po 😭💖🙇🏻♀️
Getting scammed on an expensive figure preorder is the worst especially when the figure in question skyrockets.
True. That's why it's best to order from legit websites. Nowadays, there are a lot of small time figure shops so it's better to tread carefully when trying to place pre orders or any order actually.
Thank you for sharing this very helpful brilliant good explanation thank you 😊
Thanks for dropping by! I'm happy you see this video as helpful. ☺️☺️ I guess I'll be making more videos like this in the future too
8:11 uhhhh You have this amazing and rare Inori figure! Congrats
AAAAAANNNDDDD I SOLD HER hahahaha!
@@JennySupremo thank u for replying! 🥺 good to hear AmiAmi is trustworthy! I will check out the Facebook shops in my country too!
@@rainycloud7328 I suggest look for shops that are closest to you. Shops that have lots of experience on selling anime figures and with proofs of legitimacy already. You can never trust on the number of likes alone. (Shops usually are in "Facebook pages" form. I hope this makes sense? Hehe)
@@JennySupremo Makes perfect sense! Thank u so much! Looking forward to your next video ☺️💕
Update me when you find a good shop over Facebook. It would be nice for others to know it exists as well. You know, helping fellow collectors 😉
Bro my 2 resin statues i just ordered from FavorGK was like $550 💀
Wallet-kun, daijoubu desu ka? 🤣🤣🤣
