Very glad I kickstarted the deluxe version - friend got this from overseas a while back and we have all really enjoyed it

Others with bag building: Dice Masters and King's Pouch. Upcoming: Automobiles - the next in the series that started with Trains (deckbuilding/area control) and Planes (Mancala).

Forgot about Planes. I played that too. Dice Masters I consider Dice Building but I see your angle.

We play a 3 player game in about 60 min or less. It's a fun game with lots of options glad i picked it up a while ago.We own the dlp version with the upgraded player pieces and workers.

I prefer this to Hyperborea too. The resource element goes well with the pouch-drawing.

Joel, fantastic review! I love Rahdo's reviews, and hearing him talk, but lately I've realized he only gets thru a round or two, so I'm not getting the full overview. Thanks for breaking this down, I like the bag builder, and also how you have to "retire" them, i love games where you have to decide when to put your resources into decline or thin them out, etc. Also for clarifying the various tech track, i like that freedom. I'm getting backed up on my euros, but this is high on my list!

Was really hoping you weren't going to say that you like this better than Hyperborea, hah. Seems like everyone says that, but you were the only reviewer that I heard really enjoy Hyperborea. I have Orleans on order, but the look and solitaire nature turn me off a bit. I just picked up Hyperborea in the mean time, have been hoping that I would prefer that one.

You might. I know there are others who do prefer Hyperborea over this. I'm definitely not the only one. Hyperborea's ending was... odd. This has a nice progression throughout.

How long have your plays been taking? Something you could knock out over lunch with 2P/3P counts?

+Brian Frahm Maybe with two. My plays all seem to come in over an hour which puts it outside my lunch timeframe. The table space would be an issue for my lunch time as well :)

Didn't your copy come with wooden discs and metal coins?

That is only in the collectors edition. This is standard.
