Can not wait to see your first "Finished" adventure. Hope you guys and Kombilife can meet somewhere. They started in the states with a gutted kombi 73 high top and have really built it up. Similar elect and water. AND just had a child. so you might be able to give them some pointers. ❤❤❤
Love the whole build and now going on adventures. The only thing I noticed is the backside of oka is hang back, the much weight for the suspension with all the stuff inside but also at the back. The bicycle rack and spare tire add extra weights and works like a lever as it’s so far at the back and pushes more on the suspension. Are you exchanging the suspension or make then airbags suitable so you have enough clearance when driving off-road.
haha .. You noticed .. Yeah the Springs in the back of the new oaks are a 2 stage spring set .. They are designed to take big weights on an off ... mine being camper means the weight is always on ... Just Last week we had Gympie Spring works design and make a new spring pack to keep the extreme down travel and lif the rear end ... we gained 70mm in lift and the spring now has a nice curve through it instead of being on the shape of a W.
went to look at a OKA 25 years ago to do a Australia Trip - loved the work you have done so far. Can you post the heater and water filter companies - love the fact they are Australian
I’ve been driving through Aust for yrs just on my holidays, & not once have I met anyone who has said they have too much power. I have met, & I’m in that boat of not enough power. Always wanting more equals less worry.
Those gas struts on your lift-up canopy appear to be fitted upside down. It still works but it does seriously affect the life of the strut. It's about lubrication.
Should work well, 12kwh LiFePO4 here, 2kw solar, running induction, elec oven, washing machine, dishwasher, ebike, lots of laptop use for work and all the usual stuff in campers / full time live in vehicle. :)
Hahaha I was laughing editing this video .. she was so full of adrenaline.. You can imagine after a 14month renovation and having a baby she is well in truely ready for some adventure !!
This comment maybe nothing to do with this content .. but I have to have my say .. I bought a projecta dcdc charger for my 79 series ute ..bottom line short had issues hooking it up . just a $320 product... Got projecta support on the line to call .. They or he was so helpful for trying to help me.out trying to problem solved my installation for like 1hr n 10min .. from.try this to try this n also saying mate I'm sorry to keep you guys on line 8 beers in on Friday Arvo etc etc they were the best on trying to find why my dcdc was not working etc etc bottom line is they was so helpful on the phone and patient with my lack of experience they got my dcdc working or basically helping me to install it period ... That . I don't care were they get there products made .. they are 💯 a good fare dimkum Aussie company... Who go out of the way .. .yep my dcdc charger still going strong 7 years later ..
@@KarstanAndMaxine good luck with your next adventures be safe looking forward to your videos. PS I'm a old Newy fella friend of Maxines Dad Steve and I didn't even know that until a few months ago. Yewww
Glad you didn’t pay for that power board, as they didn’t do a good job on the cable management, they could have at least use cable trays and 90 degree connectors. And 1200ah lithium is too much, you don’t have enough charging to manage it effectively, I’ve got 1520w of fixed solar, 440w of portable, 100a of DCDC on 620ah of battery and even though I’ve seen it putting in 200+ah it still can take hours to recharge if your not moving or driving. A few days of overcast and it will take you literally days to recharge. Also with the pop top the AC will suck the juice down when it’s hot out, as you lose so much thermal insulation
if it works it works .. 1200ah is not too much at all ..a correct amount of battery isn't determined by its stand alone charging ability... with our roof space only 800w was available plus blankets .. so lets say 1600w .. that enough to sustain 600ah in full sun .. but let through in some over cast days .. trees etc solar doesn't help at all .. so having bulk power does help stay those extra days.. It all comes down to how you travel .. And we have learnt how we travel and what we need over the last 4 years .. remember we don't have a washing machine so caravan parks are great to fully recharge and do a clean also .. Yew !
Why the AF didn't you go with SAFIERY for your electrical setup?.- Projecta are way down the line in quality! Also Karsten - get a RAINMAN portable watermaker - then you can stay anywhere for ages longer!!!!!. Not being a troll. But you spent SO MUCH buying the OKA ( I bet upwards of $250K ), then you get a terrible 12V setup. I hope it works out for you, but man seriously do not understand???.
Yeah I agree there are some really good other options out there .. We have never had issues with projecta and they are great to deal with.. as you can read in some of the other peoples comments .. yes the truck is upwards of $250k but that doesn't mean we have another $250k to deck it out with the best of the best systems and material ... rrainmen is a good idea ... no space unfortunately ... maybe ill get one in the boat.
Because safiery is good on paper but in the real world is not great. I’ve dealt and used safiery 48v gear in the past and it’s extremely complex and not durable especially the switching side. The victron side is fine, and realistically would of been a better fit for a truck with a 24v electrical system as you can get 24v dcdc’s off the shelf and you would use garmin or Auxbeam for digital/analog switching. Then run it all through an iPad rather then a touch 70
It’s going to be great seeing all this in action!
So pumped
Bring the cool shit already 😂
Can't wait for the overlanding trip.......
Thanks for the share 🤙👍
haha planing the Tran-Australia now !

@KarstanAndMaxine that be awesome..just be prepared for my daughter it will be lot of questions ...she's 16 and loves ..
Would of done a 24v system as have 24v alternator, 24v solar as well, get rid of those anderson plugs

Water filter company is Womo
And diesel water heater/air heater is dieselheat.com.au

they installed correctly and are IP66
IP66 is an Ingress Protection Rating and refers to dust tight and protected against powerful waterjets.
Great update we are very envious of the battery set up, how much solar are you running to support that amount of Ah.
can only fit 800Watts on the roof ..but will carry another 800w of blankets in the future .. so far we haven't needed them
Big ups to Andy

Awesome to hear ... yeah they helped me big time !!
I'm not trying to be smart but is the Oka still operational if all the electronic devices break down. I hope they never do but I curious that's all.
yep sure is this is a seperate system to the oak its self ... if the control system fail for any reason .. I can easily wire it up to function
