Rogue One is probably the best SW movie in terms of easter eggs, fan services and connections with the other movies, it was handled so smart I´m still blow away with all the attention to details .
It definitely had quite a few nods to the previous films. Unfortunately the entire movie was unnecessary as they paid more attention to minor details as opposed how the story fits. It doesn't.
Wow, it's so amazing how Star Wars still lives on, even in the original actor's and actresses' hearts, a 40 year long story spanning 8 films and going on 9. Incredible, live on, Gold Leader!
Great interview! Angus MacInnes is such a nice man. And I liked how aware he was about the Rogue One production. Loved his professionalism. I'm subscribing to your channel.
I totally freaked out when they came back! And heck the whole battle scene at Yaven is basically "The Dambusters" a WW2 epic based on a real event whom I've meet one of the real participants.
Me too... he was talking about how eerie it was to see peter Cushing back from the grave and then he, vomited up, what looked like, demonic black sludge. I had to rewind it to see if yt was going nuts. caught me off guard that 😂
This was fantastic. I really appreciated the stories he had to tell with very little prompting. It was truly amazing to see these little bits on the screen as Rogue One attempted to close the loop with the movie that started it all. I'm glad the actors are so excited to be a part of it.
I was perusing lists of 'top 50 characters' and 'top 100 characters' in star wars on various sites. I must have gone through two dozen lists, and I didn't see Gold Leader on a single one. They even pad them out with stuff like 'ugnaught' and 'gonk droid' and 'imperial guards', but no Gold Leader. Even when they rank Jar Jar last, they still forget Gold Leader. Yet people cheered in movie theaters when Gold Leader and Red Leader appeared in Rogue One.
Wow great work. I love when we are able to see interviews with minor characters in big movies like this. Always seems like they have the most interesting stories.
What’s amazing to me is, for Disney to have done so well with Rogue One, including having the heart and awareness to do nice little touches like this that honor heritage (and the people involved)… and then turn around and try to dismantle that same heritage and lash out at people for voicing pained, genuine objections for doing so… is just astounding. It feels like two completely different entities made these films. It’s beyond bizarre.
He was also in hellraiser 2, superman 2, judge dread and so much more. Just looked him up on wiki. Sad to see he fied a few weeks back on the 24th December 😢
So cool, his voice still sounds youthful all these years later, unlike the late Carrie Fisher in TFA, who you can really tell aged (though I fear it might have been more because of her Botoxing, bless her soul) Either way, to see Gold Leader and Red Leader so seamlessly in the movie was to me the biggest surprise, even more so than the Vader scene. I was blown away by how cool that was because it was unexpected, yet so perfect to see those pilots.
All the Rogue One interviews I've seen, this was the best. Been wondering about this since I saw the film! The sound effects and clips were a bit distracting though, I prefer fewer of those over the top of interviews.
Awesome! You might enjoy his book on journeying to the Lost World (or the inspiration for it) in Venezuela. He is truly irrepressible! www.amazon.com/Quest-Lost-World-Brian-Blessed/dp/0752217534
My friends and I still, to this day, quote those classic Red and Gold Leader lines. As with any other Star Wars quotes, they apply to pretty much anything else in life.
was 8 or 9 back when Star Wars came out, to see Gold Leader actor is still around and your interview really made my day. We used to repeat the banter from battle of Yavin at primary school: "this is gold leader", "I'm on the leader", "Aaarrgghhh!". Battle of Britain in space. I also have a mainly Star Wars related channel. Could you check it out and if you think it is good content, we can exchange subs? Keep those interviews coming....and stay on target!
just subbed as well, i'll be picking through your video archive. thank you for your generous feedback. If ever any of the lost star wars actors are in Australia, let me know as i live in sydney
You answered the question I always wanted to know: was Angus involved. I loved that snippet in the film, so now I know he had a good hand with the part again. Thanks mate!
2 years after his ordeal at Yavin, "Dutch" Vander was found at Canadian Sanitarium, poisoned by a strange brew and deluded into thinking he was Rosey LeRose ex Montreal Canadian enforcer in the NHL. After this he retired to Scotland to open up a pizzeria.
I hope Disney won't be so afraid of Special Editions (seeing how much the fans b*tched about the other SW films that were SE-ed) that they don't touch up both Tarkin and Leia's CG for Rogue One, once the tech improves. There's good SE and bad SE. Touching up CG to make it look more convincing is always welcome.
So other than, "Gold Leader Standing by," I assume all of his additional dialogue was when he wasn't on camera? I'm starting to learn editing myself. Would love to see an analysis on how they did it.
Hey Tony. I think the editors did some in depth interviews on Rogue One recently (one was with Yahoo UK i think), look it up as it could be useful for you. Good luck with the editing.
The force is strong with this one, I can't believe you found gold leader! I really really enjoy your videos. BTW, when is coming out the stormtrooper interview?
Thanks man! Keep any eye out for new videos coming soon. Strormtrooper will be at least a couple of months though I'm afraid...the investigation continues ;-)
I want to say great interview. I want to ask truthfully if you caught this or not? I initially caught it, told my wife during the movie and she was like "what are you talking about." I also thought they just put the old lines in the new movie so now will need to slow down the movie when I get it on blue ray.
I just found your channel. Watched a lot of videos and I really enjoy it! I would like to see you do interviews with (here comes the list :p): Liam Neeson Ewan McGregor Natalie Portman Ian McDiarmid Anthony Daniels Terence Stamp Ray Park Silas Carson Hayden Christensen Temuera Morrison Andy Secombe Peter Mayhew Tom Kane Dee Bradley Baker Matt Lanter James Arnold Taylor Matthew Wood and Sam Witwer I know most of them are not possible, but never stop dreaming right?
I thought he had a splash of coffee coming out of his mouth. Then I realized, no... he's in England or Scotland so it was probably tea. Then I watched it a 3rd time and used the pause button and... Is there some kind of joke I'm missing or was it just a random thing to have a mess come splashing out of his mouth like that?
They should bring Gold Leader back in Star Wars. I know he was shot down by Vader, but it's a movie. They can bring him back, somehow and they totally should! Gold Squadron forever!
I love how my man Gold Leader just explained why the Tarkan CGI is eh and it's nothing anyone needs to freak out about in a nice calm couple sentences but the rest of the internet needed to freak the fuck out about it.
Jamie Stangroom quiet sad, frankely i find them very good at lest you don't spend your time critizing them. it has become like à fact that those movies are terrible because of a certain group of people, regardless that many like them (parricularly many of my generation). I like the video you did with Ahmed Best, even if you don't like them, you don't hate one them. perfect transition to say that your videos are great and I love them. continue the good job !
I don't hate the prequels at all - there's a lot about them I do like, especially in episode 3. But I don't feel the need to revisit them very often, like I would with ep's 4 - 7 & Rogue One. Thank you for watching and supporting, I'll try and involve more prequel people in future. Actually a Boss Nass interview will be coming very soon ;-)
"Red Leader this is Gold Leader", is one of the coolest Ariel lines ever!
It's pretty sweet!
RIP Angus, just reading the news, it´s a shame, one of the most remembered scuadron hero!
Wow. You found Gold Leader!?!?!! Great video, by the way!
Stay on target...
Haha, yeah! Keep up the good work!
i had NO idea he was that old viking from vikings that just wanted to die
wait is he?!?!?!? from when they first raided england???
kazath Wow, i never noticed that, thanks
Rogue One is probably the best SW movie in terms of easter eggs, fan services and connections with the other movies, it was handled so smart I´m still blow away with all the attention to details .
Couldn't agree more, man!
Force Awakens beat you over the head with fan-service. Rogue One gave a buffet.
I still liked TFA but Rogue One really filled a gap, I dare to say that Rogue one improved Episode VII.
Rogue One improved on episode 4 actually not 7 since there is a lot of more connection to episode 4 and also the prequels than the new trilogy.
It definitely had quite a few nods to the previous films. Unfortunately the entire movie was unnecessary as they paid more attention to minor details as opposed how the story fits. It doesn't.
R.I.P Angus macInnes 27 Oct 1947 - 23 Dec 2024.
Wow, it's so amazing how Star Wars still lives on, even in the original actor's and actresses' hearts, a 40 year long story spanning 8 films and going on 9. Incredible, live on, Gold Leader!
He was genuinely chuffed to be asked back for Rogue One.
Jamie Stangroom I'm sure he is! Awesome video mate
Its crazy pretty crazy, theres 11 and 13 if you count mando, and boba side stories (even tho they’re shows)
"This is, Gold Leader. Standing by" my 5th favorite line in the Star Wars universe, 3rd in the original trilogy
that was fun. well done.
Thanks for watching the video, Philip!
Another Star Wars hero!
alsp played a good role in vikings
DUDE! Can you please do an interview with Hayden Christensen? I'd love that! Awesome channel btw :)
THIS
;-)
I would love to. I think Hayden might be a little shy though.
Same. It's worth a try though.
Oh shit yes that would be a juicy interview.
Thanks for finding him!
thank YOU for watching :-)
Absolutely love your videos, thank you for putting all the time and effort into making these! You deserve way more subscribers
Thanks man! It means a lot to me that you enjoy the content.
Great interview! Angus MacInnes is such a nice man. And I liked how aware he was about the Rogue One production. Loved his professionalism.
I'm subscribing to your channel.
Hey Max, yeah he was a really laid back interviewee. Thanks for the sub :-)
The shield gate line is definitely not from 4.
true
Leo Lim Oh yeah,
That's why they cut to an outside shot of the squadron for that snippet.
It IS from 4 dude
@@firestriker3580 no it isn't dude
Dis channel isa *berry* underrated!
I agree, Mr Boss of Nass.
"Red leader, this is gold leader"
The way he says it just gives me the chills....
Don't know why?
I'm with you on that.
I totally freaked out when they came back! And heck the whole battle scene at Yaven is basically "The Dambusters" a WW2 epic based on a real event whom I've meet one of the real participants.
3:58 That scared the absolute hell outta me!
Sorry dude!
Me too... he was talking about how eerie it was to see peter Cushing back from the grave and then he, vomited up, what looked like, demonic black sludge. I had to rewind it to see if yt was going nuts. caught me off guard that 😂
WOW! How did you manage to get him for this interview? It´s awesome how Disney still cares and respect the old SW. This guy is a complete legend!
There's nothing a cheeky facebook message can't organise ;-) Thanks for watching, lot's more to come on the channel!
Disney doesn’t care or respect the old SW. this is false
Cool ass interview! it was friggin incredible seeing Gold Leader in Rogue One. So well done in getting him for an interview like this one.
Thank you mate, glad you liked it :-)
Always impressed with how down to Earth and friendly these interviews are. Think Jamie does a good job getting them to open up.
Thank you!
Dude that’s AWESOOOOOME!!!!!
That last bit with Billy Dee Williams was the cherry on top!
This was fantastic. I really appreciated the stories he had to tell with very little prompting. It was truly amazing to see these little bits on the screen as Rogue One attempted to close the loop with the movie that started it all. I'm glad the actors are so excited to be a part of it.
Hey Chris, thanks for the watch. Angus was an easy interviewee :-)
Thanks for watching, Bob
Jamie i really appreciate your content. its unique and cool may the force be with you
Thanks dude, it's these kinds of comments that keep me going at these vids. May the force be with YOU!
Thanks Jamie. Great 'behind the scenes' clips.
You're welcome buddy!
Thank you for making a video with my favorite actor in star wars(the originals)
You are most welcome!
This is so cool. I would say, it's a good start for January 7th with watching this interview. Thanks a lot for you work!
Thanks dude, happy new year to you!
Wow great work. I love when we are able to see interviews with minor characters in big movies like this. Always seems like they have the most interesting stories.
Thanks, Alex mate!
This is amazing. Such an amazing tribute
Thanks for watching :-)
Another great video, Jamie, thanks for doing this series! Can't wait for the next episode :D
Nice one, thanks Matt. I'll be dropping a new episode in the next few days :-)
What a fantastic interview. Thanks so much
Thanks for watching :-)
Outstanding that they got him back, thank you for this interview!
You're welcome :-)
What’s amazing to me is, for Disney to have done so well with Rogue One, including having the heart and awareness to do nice little touches like this that honor heritage (and the people involved)… and then turn around and try to dismantle that same heritage and lash out at people for voicing pained, genuine objections for doing so… is just astounding. It feels like two completely different entities made these films. It’s beyond bizarre.
This is interview was so cool Jamie -- you rock! I love Gold Leader. I subscribed and here is a Jabba-sized thumbs up! :-D
Don't choke on your own thumb.
STAY ON TARGET...was so good to see him ....he should know he's still got fans worldwide....!!
He knows it :-)
This was great! So cool you got to interview him.
Hey, thank you :-)
He was also in hellraiser 2, superman 2, judge dread and so much more. Just looked him up on wiki. Sad to see he fied a few weeks back on the 24th December 😢
It wasn't until halfway through the video that I realized that from that angle he looks an awful lot like my dad and now I can't unsee it.
This channel is such a hidden gem. Top quality content, really!
Thanks again, dude :-)
Wow, your interview with Star Wars actors/stuff are so great! Love it!
Thanks Jim, my friend!
Great video! Thanks for all of the great interviews! I still go back and watch the "jizz" video when I need a laugh. Cracks me up every time. :)
You're very very welcome! Happy to hear that "jizz" has such an affect on you ;-)
Jamie Stangroom Hahaaa Yes it flows like a river through my brain, lol.
So cool, his voice still sounds youthful all these years later, unlike the late Carrie Fisher in TFA, who you can really tell aged (though I fear it might have been more because of her Botoxing, bless her soul)
Either way, to see Gold Leader and Red Leader so seamlessly in the movie was to me the biggest surprise, even more so than the Vader scene. I was blown away by how cool that was because it was unexpected, yet so perfect to see those pilots.
It was definitely high class fan service :-)
Jamie Stangroom for sure!
he probably did not as many drugs as Carrie)))
Great video! Awesome interview, I had no idea he was still alive, and was shocked I'd actually seen him in Vikings!
Thanks!!!!
Your work is amazing.
Cheers dude, glad you approve :-)
This is awesome that you found him! Great interview!
Thank you sir!
All the Rogue One interviews I've seen, this was the best. Been wondering about this since I saw the film!
The sound effects and clips were a bit distracting though, I prefer fewer of those over the top of interviews.
Ah nice one, thank you for watching :-)
Great interview, and some great memories! Subscribed and looking forward to more!!
Thanks, Rob! More to come :-)
why did this never show up in my feed? Regardless, I love the vids you make, its awesome to see interviews from "minor" characters of star wars
I think you might have to click the little bell notification thing around the subscribe button? Anyway, glad you found it eventually. Thanks dude.
Angus MacGinnes was also Jean "Rosie" LaRose in "Strange Brew" w/ Bob and Doug MacKenzie.
Great video!! Really looking forward to the Brian Blessed video :)
Thanks dude! That will be out on Tuesday this coming week!
Awesome! You might enjoy his book on journeying to the Lost World (or the inspiration for it) in Venezuela. He is truly irrepressible! www.amazon.com/Quest-Lost-World-Brian-Blessed/dp/0752217534
Nice. I'll have to check that out, thank you! He is an actual man mountain.
Fantastic interview. Well done!
Thanks, Matt!
My friends and I still, to this day, quote those classic Red and Gold Leader lines. As with any other Star Wars quotes, they apply to pretty much anything else in life.
:-)
Great interview! Loved it.
Thank you!!! Glad you enjoyed it mate!
This is simply amazing. Seeing Angus MacInnes in Rogue One (along with Drewe Henley; RIP) blew me away. :D
Thanks for checking out the video :-)

And glad you liked the Gold Leader vid!
just subbed as well, i'll be picking through your video archive. thank you for your generous feedback. If ever any of the lost star wars actors are in Australia, let me know as i live in sydney
Thanks man, and will do!
You answered the question I always wanted to know: was Angus involved. I loved that snippet in the film, so now I know he had a good hand with the part again. Thanks mate!
Great interview!

Great video!!!!!
Hey Jerry, thanks for checking it out!
Good to see the return of Dutch Vander A.K.A. Gold Leader. I own a Y-Wing and a Dutch Vander figure in my collection.
oh this channel is fantastic ;)
Thank you, Mike :-)
Great interview! Seems like a really decent guy! Agree with a lot he says.
Hey Shuan and thanks mate!
"Good hits on target, Gold Squadron. One Destroyer disabled, one bisected, and shield gate is offline. Disengage and RTB, well done."
Bravo!
just discovered this channel . im here to stay.
Thank you Austin, mate! You're very welcome here
Loved seeing red and gold leader in rogue one. Loved Gold Leader
Thank you for watching!
3:58 I thought he threw up lol omg
:-)
He is brilent actor and he play the general in flight of fury steven seagal film ,nice to see him in rogue one 😀
Disney/Lucasfilm, PLEASE ask Angus MacInnes to continue reprising his role (vocally) on Star Wars: Rebels! Great interview, BTW! You rock!
Thaaaanks Anthony, dude!
I could see this happening in the future, and it wouldn't be a bad think for the characters you mentioned.
Damn....I forgot he was also the evil cop in "Witness".
he sounds like a cool guy
So other than, "Gold Leader Standing by," I assume all of his additional dialogue was when he wasn't on camera? I'm starting to learn editing myself. Would love to see an analysis on how they did it.
Hey Tony. I think the editors did some in depth interviews on Rogue One recently (one was with Yahoo UK i think), look it up as it could be useful for you. Good luck with the editing.
Y-Wings are my favorite Rebel fighter. Gold Leader is a big favorite! Long live Gold Squadron!
Thanks for watching, John 👍
Met him...cool guy
great chanel mate! subscribed! ;-)
Thanks Justin mate!!!
Nice find.
+BTL Y-Wing thanks 🤓
The force is strong with this one, I can't believe you found gold leader! I really really enjoy your videos. BTW, when is coming out the stormtrooper interview?
Thanks man! Keep any eye out for new videos coming soon. Strormtrooper will be at least a couple of months though I'm afraid...the investigation continues ;-)

I also thought they just put the old lines in the new movie so now will need to slow down the movie when I get it on blue ray.
Thanks James! I actually did...honest! But I have to admit that I didn't catch that it was (partly) new dialogue.
"cut the chatter red two" just kidding
0:05 wow that's a pretty good model they got of chopper on rogue one
although he is a bit taller but then not? it's weird
Pretty cool isn't it
+Jamie Stangroom Very cool
I just found your channel. Watched a lot of videos and I really enjoy it!
I would like to see you do interviews with (here comes the list :p):
Liam Neeson
Ewan McGregor
Natalie Portman
Ian McDiarmid
Anthony Daniels
Terence Stamp
Ray Park
Silas Carson
Hayden Christensen
Temuera Morrison
Andy Secombe
Peter Mayhew
Tom Kane
Dee Bradley Baker
Matt Lanter
James Arnold Taylor
Matthew Wood
and
Sam Witwer
I know most of them are not possible, but never stop dreaming right?
Dare to dream! Thanks buddy. I'll see what I can do.
Great video.
Nice one one Eric. Love your profile pic by the way!
3:59 the CGI gold leader glitched! LOL!! YES! Get Hayden Christensen, that would be awesome!
nathanallan1 I thought I was the only one who noticed that!!
:-)
At first I thought I was seeing his mouth melt, had to go back.
I think it was a random thing with communications, a lot like when the signal goes a bit wonky when watching digital television.
We love you Jon Vander! Hero of the rebellion!
:-)
That's Rosie LaRose, rookie of the year for the Montreal Canadiens!
TAKE OFF!! He's a COP!
this is gold leader we are starting to for the target shaft now.
Woo hoo!!!
He looks great!
He's doing alright yeah!
Subscribed !
Woo hoo! Thanks, dude.
You must do an interview with Biggs now! :-)
I'm down for that!
I am very pleased to hear it!!!
Love it
wow, this channel is so awesome, i am almost sad about my little interest in star wars.
haha, I forgive you for your lack of interest! You're still welcome here ;-)
I lost my shit when I saw this in the theater
Jamie i'd like to know your opinion on the prequels
How long have you got???
Jamie Stangroom quiet sad, frankely i find them very good
at lest you don't spend your time critizing them. it has become like à fact that those movies are terrible because of a certain group of people, regardless that many like them (parricularly many of my generation).
Mmmmmm. Pizza gets me a little off target, too.
Ditto. Pizza makes me useless, but happy.
