I agree with the praise for Donaire in their first fight... but one, he was given a gift long-count on the body shot, though to his credit, he came on strong after that brutal shot... and two; and a very important thing to remember, is that Inoue suffered a broken orbital bone early in that fight... that's a horrible injury, and many a fighter has called it a night on the stool after such an injury... so that shows me that with all his other gifts... sublime skill, one punch power, a child prodigy, he's also very tough. The second fight between the two showed the difference, and was how I still think the first fight would've went against Nonito had Inoue not been injured early... but I'm not complaining-----we got a better fight instead, and Inoue got an important, trial-by-fire type learning experience

People just dont understand how technical that tapales inoue fight was. Both fighters kept makikg adjustments and having sucess until either inoue just tirned it all the way up or tapales was forced to turn it down and got stopped. Great, great fight. And unlike the haney loma fight, which was also super technical, it had power to make it a resounding win or loss

@@Retros2408 in boxing popularity doesn't always mean you're the best. Look at Ryan Garcia. Most popular one but skills not there. Just because you didn't know the lower weight classes doesn't mean there's no skillful fighters down there. There's a lot of killers down there they just don't get the same spotlight as the heavier guys. And Inoue demolished all top competition. And I mean demolished them.
Inoue regained 13 pounds after weigh-in, but was still a little below the max. He's not struggling to make the 122lb like Manny did back when he was young. It's a pretty good bet that Inoue's power and endurance transfers to 126lb. And even if he could maintain his success at 130lb, 135lb is just asking too much unless you're only interested in finding the guy that can put Inoue down. And at 130/135lb, you'll have big guys coming down for a chance to be the guy that stopped the Monster.
Back when Inoue was about to take on McDonnell, when he was first moving to 118, he sparred with Leigh Wood. This was in 2017 or 2018, and Wood had said he felt Inoue's power and that he definitely thinks it carries up to 126. This was five-six years ago. I believe that still stands. However Inoue himself said that he felt it was taking him longer to KO opponents so he wanted to let his body get used to 122 in the coming year, and aims to have 3 fights in 2024

Realistically though, he'll probably spend two years at 122 and we have to remember, even Manny Paqcuiao spent 4 years at 126lb. It was good to see Tapales fight as well as he did, but it was also clear that Tapales was one or two rungs down the ladder in over all talent compared to The Monster. No slight on Marlon, just obviously true. As far as future weight classes, I understand that Inoue's walking around weight could easily be 135-140. Only time, and more dazzling knockouts will tell.

I think Tapslas came in with a well drilled game plan, the stance and style he adopted was really effective, it enabled him to take a lot of shots on the gloves and arms, he showed good discipline keeping his hands in that position to keep absorbing those shots, that kept in the fight as long as it did imo. Inoue was comfortable taking his shots, covering up and drawing Tapalas in. Definitely a generational fighter, holds a great shot as well. I think he could move up another weight and carry that natural power up as well.

I don't even think Inoue is decided on the direction that he wants to take his legacy and neither are we. Do you to play it safe and maintain a perfect record and high KO percentage, the hallmark, the legacy and main intrigue about Inoue? Do you play it safe but go up in weight to earn more respect but risk lowering your KO percentage and legacy? He's still right there where he could choose either path, but I think he'll move up once he cleans up the current weight class and gets bored 2 years and 4 to 5 fights in from now. I mention KO percentage because you could see in the Tapales fight Inoue, for the first time in his career, made a conscious decision in the later rounds to prioritize KO vs guarateed win by points by hitting harder but risk getting hit more. I'm so happy that Shawn finally got around to watching Inoue's fights! I remember when I first sat down to binge them all and quickly realized that no other fighter looks how he does in the ring. He's legitimately insane.

I agree with the praise for Donaire in their first fight... but one, he was given a gift long-count on the body shot, though to his credit, he came on strong after that brutal shot... and two; and a very important thing to remember, is that Inoue suffered a broken orbital bone early in that fight... that's a horrible injury, and many a fighter has called it a night on the stool after such an injury... so that shows me that with all his other gifts... sublime skill, one punch power, a child prodigy, he's also very tough. The second fight between the two showed the difference, and was how I still think the first fight would've went against Nonito had Inoue not been injured early... but I'm not complaining-----we got a better fight instead, and Inoue got an important, trial-by-fire type learning experience
Donaire also broke his nose. Imagine going 12 rounds in that much pain. Pain everytime you breathe while trying to dodge and punch with double vision and one eye closed.. and then still winning by UD! Hell of a fighter.

People just dont understand how technical that tapales inoue fight was. Both fighters kept makikg adjustments and having sucess until either inoue just tirned it all the way up or tapales was forced to turn it down and got stopped. Great, great fight. And unlike the haney loma fight, which was also super technical, it had power to make it a resounding win or loss

Nobody talks about the foundation that gave Inoue the opportunity to be, and grow into the generational fighter that he is, and that is his dad and the rest of the team..I mean, who was there in the beginning to instill in Inoue, the discipline, the dedication, to constantly motivate him.?.After all, we are all humans and we do need someone whom we respect and want the best for us to keep us motivated and focus so we can achieved our dreams and bring out the best in us, Shingo and his team is that foundation.. Shingo seems like a very good tactician as well...He should be trainer of the year, imo..
Hard work and talent is a scary combo, but talent is god-given, no amount of hard work can overcome natural talent. Inoue has a brother that also trains with him and his dad but he’s nowhere near as good as Naoya.

Inoue regained 13 pounds after weigh-in, but was still a little below the max. He's not struggling to make the 122lb like Manny did back when he was young.
It's a pretty good bet that Inoue's power and endurance transfers to 126lb. And even if he could maintain his success at 130lb, 135lb is just asking too much unless you're only interested in finding the guy that can put Inoue down. And at 130/135lb, you'll have big guys coming down for a chance to be the guy that stopped the Monster.

Back when Inoue was about to take on McDonnell, when he was first moving to 118, he sparred with Leigh Wood. This was in 2017 or 2018, and Wood had said he felt Inoue's power and that he definitely thinks it carries up to 126. This was five-six years ago. I believe that still stands. However Inoue himself said that he felt it was taking him longer to KO opponents so he wanted to let his body get used to 122 in the coming year, and aims to have 3 fights in 2024
@@ninog9737 I wouldn't count Inoue out at any weight against anybody, even at 135. Realistically though, he'll probably spend two years at 122 and we have to remember, even Manny Paqcuiao spent 4 years at 126lb.
The most we could hope for is Inoue moving up to 135 for one last bit of glory before retiring around 36 or 37yo.

I truly believe the only toughest test at 126 will be Rafael Espinoza (especially seeing what he did to Robeisy Ramírez). But at the end of the day, everyone at 126 is in the monster way. We all know INOUE is exceptionally talented and beat a well gamed Tapales. I believe Donaire, Pacquiao, Casimero, etc all gave advice to Tapales.
It was good to see Tapales fight as well as he did, but it was also clear that Tapales was one or two rungs down the ladder in over all talent compared to The Monster. No slight on Marlon, just obviously true. As far as future weight classes, I understand that Inoue's walking around weight could easily be 135-140. Only time, and more dazzling knockouts will tell.

I think Tapslas came in with a well drilled game plan, the stance and style he adopted was really effective, it enabled him to take a lot of shots on the gloves and arms, he showed good discipline keeping his hands in that position to keep absorbing those shots, that kept in the fight as long as it did imo. Inoue was comfortable taking his shots, covering up and drawing Tapalas in. Definitely a generational fighter, holds a great shot as well. I think he could move up another weight and carry that natural power up as well.

I agree that Innoue is a generational talent but can't quite work out why Tank Davis's name has even been thought of, let alone mentioned. It's somewhat baffling.
I don't even think Inoue is decided on the direction that he wants to take his legacy and neither are we. Do you to play it safe and maintain a perfect record and high KO percentage, the hallmark, the legacy and main intrigue about Inoue? Do you play it safe but go up in weight to earn more respect but risk lowering your KO percentage and legacy? He's still right there where he could choose either path, but I think he'll move up once he cleans up the current weight class and gets bored 2 years and 4 to 5 fights in from now.
I mention KO percentage because you could see in the Tapales fight Inoue, for the first time in his career, made a conscious decision in the later rounds to prioritize KO vs guarateed win by points by hitting harder but risk getting hit more. He'll be forced make more of these tradeoff decision between KO and winning easily by decision as he moves up in weight.
