      I like to drink red wine for the resveratrol and other polyphenols which help with my antioxidant levels. As long as you don’t drink too much then there’s actually a lot of benefits in certain alcohols.

    I'm 36, and been a drunk since my early 20's. Tried quiting here and there over the years, been to hospitals and detox centers, rehab and even arrested a couple times.
    I've been sober since the new year and I feel so much better. Eat healthy food, drink plenty of water and exercise everyday. It's way better feeling good than all the bad things alcohol makes you feel. And do.

    Ten years ago I drank around two handles of vodka per week just sitting at my computer playing video games. I mixed it with enough liquid that I didn't get dehydrated, so I was still functional at work. What ultimately got me to stop was doing martial arts, where I was using my body enough to notice that the impact of alcohol was holding me back. Same for nicotine. Having to be away from my vape for an hour made me realize how much of a burden it was to maintain so i tapered down the nicotine density and eventually quit altogether. Now I just have a weed or a beer once or twice a week

      same. i would just drink and game. i also used it a social tool online. been sober for 2 weeks lol. have 0 urge to engage with it again. being drunk got me kicked out of so many communities and lost me a lot of friendships.

      So I have been taking l glutamine for about a year and it has dramatically decreased my craving for alcohol specifically beer I can have a drink whenever we go out and I don’t get the monkey on my back asking for another drink I would suggest anybody struggling with cravings for alcohol do your research on l glutamine and try it for yourself good look to you all

    My grandpa struggled with alcohol, especially after the loss of my grandma. Because of that, my dad was a very strict with himself when drinking, knowing addiction runs in families. He’d have one or two drinks during holidays, but that’s about it. He also never hid this fact from me even as a kid, and let me slowly be introduced to alcohol in a safe environment- with family when I was 16, I could have a singular glass of wine during the holidays. This made it so that by the time I was 18-21 and invited to parties, it was no longer rare and “cool” thing to be drinking, I knew my limits, and I knew when to stop. To this day I have maybe one or two drinks a month, usually for special occasions. When I lived in Europe for a while, drinking became more common because it’s such a big part of the culture there, but even then it was one drink while eating out and that was all.
    There is such a fine line for balance and I believe that the worst thing about drinking in America is the taboo nature of alcohol that leads to it being “rebellious and cool” to drink, which leads young adults to over indulge and think they are just being young and fun, when in reality they are setting themselves up to no longer be able to have fun or socialize without drinking.

      my story is very similar to yours. I was warned repeatedly from a young age about ther dangers of alcohol, and slowly introduced to it in a safe environment. I believe this is the safest way to teach kids about it.

      Honestly not much is fun without some alcohol, I've been sober all 2024 and it's definitely made life more bland. I think the health benefits outweigh the fact life is mostly boring without alcohol though yet I'll still party a few times this year bc we could all die any day from any number of things anyway.

      It was wrong about the seven calories per gram in alcohol though, that comes from something that NHS said which also said that the seven calories comes from starches or sugars in the drinks, not the alcohol.

      Funny considering humans are one of the only mammals that can tolerate a larger amount of alcohol compared to other mammals due to our liver.

      That is correct. The old thing about "moderate drinkers live longer than non-drinkers" was based on a lot of low quality studies, a lot of which were sponsored by the industry which experienced a lift from the supposedly good news that a little drinking was good for your health. The studies were poorly controlled.. drinkers who lived longer tended to be in good health anyway because of age or socio-economic status, and non-drinkers tended to include people who were in poor health to begin with and who needed to abstain. Basically, there is no "J-curve"... it's a straight line, the more you drink the worse your health is. Period.

      But stress is a killer too. Alcohol is great way to relieve stress. Alcohol can be a great way to get to know other people. I wonder how many relationships started because of alcohol.

      One to two glasses of red wine, or a beer, with dinner is incredibly normalised and common in Europe. I don’t drink every day myself, maybe 4-5 drinks a week spread out over various days, and I have lost 40kg and kept it off 🎉 the key is to KNOW what you’re drinking, how many calories it is, and just make it fit in

    I've been sober for 9 months and its literally the best change ever in my life. I look better, have so much energy and just am generally a happier person.
    Prayers to those struggling with it. It took me multiple attempts and failures to finally get sobriety to stick. Stay strong and don't give up. Its worth it!

    My ex and I broke up cause she couldn’t really socialize or celebrate with one of her friend groups without drinking or smoking weed. Her family were also extremely unhealthy, diabetic/obese, and were heavy smokers/vapers. My grandfathers were severe alcoholics, one was verbally abusive. So I told her that I didn’t want to be with someone who drank themselves stupid/drunk and got high. A drink or so here and there is no problem but she was underage and I didn’t condone that cause I was constantly worried about her safety. She told me when she was old enough she wanted to go to bars frequently, and how that would be her and her dad’s way of spending time together pretty much which is really bizarre imho. I realized then it was over. I’m glad it ended when it did before I wasted more time on someone who wasn’t going anywhere or putting in effort! Not a person I want a family with!

    Alcohol and cigarettes addiction actually destroyed my life. I could remember several years ago after divorce with my wife which brought me into my disastrous journey on Alcohol and cigarettes. I suffered severe depression and mental disorder. Got diagnosed with cptsd. Not until a friend recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly. 8 years totally clean. Much respect to mother nature the great magic shrooms.

He is 59 & has so many mental health issues plus probable CTE & a TBI that left him in a coma 8 days. It's too late now I had to get a TPO as he's 6'6 300+ pound homicidal maniac.       @@MrWumbologist Sorry, you ARE correct that I am being hyperbolic. BUT it is the second most valuable(?) traded commodity in the world after oil... For a reason.
      And the secondary impacts of caffeine are almost universal. Not even questioned or stated as negatives but as benefits!
      My solemn belief is that caffeine causes harm by robbing people of the sleep they would otherwise get. From childhood for an entire lifetime!
      It's not innocent fun times to stay awake watching Netflix and then another hit to wake up early to drive to work.
      It's robbing Peter to pay Paul. We are paying with our health to make money for the capitalist machine, must get to work on time! Must watch TV adverts and consume like good little slaves!

      ​@@jonr6680I agree that anything that robs you of sleep is a detriment to your help, and agree that many workers abuse caffeine to hit an arbitrary metric, but there are medically safe levels of caffeine to drink, which isn't true of alcohol. Everyone reacts to caffeine differently, so if drinking caffeine severely affects your sleep then yes, you shouldn't drink it; however, I drink only one cup and drink it in the morning to give my body 9 hours to process the caffeine, and I sleep great. I can drink one cup with virtually no effect to my sleep, and I suspect others can too.

    I used to drink a lot when I was younger but completely quit about 2 years ago. This has substantially increased my well-being, focus and productivity. Tho I had to partially change my social circle and I no longer go to events where I know that they are basically just an excuse to get drunk.
    Important point is, that to quit drinking, your choice of social circle matters.

    Brewing and fermenting drinks was absolutely essential for making unsafe watersources safe to drink in the past. The alcohol percentage doesn't have to be high to make water potable

    honestly the health risks are pretty scary to think about, even for just 1 drink a day. my ex was consistently drinking at least 4 drinks a day; i left him when he drove my car drunk. alcohol is tough to consume in moderation, and there's no shame in quitting it entirely like i did.

    I enjoy beer, but even after having one, my sleep is noticeably worse (and often with strange and awful dreams).

      It ruins my sleep too. I don't drink anymore and my mood is stable with so much more energy. I'm way more aware of my body and can tell how one drink can affect me for days. Exercise is my favorite drug now.

    I've more or less quit drinking this year. I was already drinking less last year.. the horrible economy and cutting back on spending did admittedly help with that, but for me it wasn't like out of control... but "oh it's the weekend, let's a have a drink" or "it's been a rough day, I need a drink" and knowing that the drinks were getting stronger and stronger. But I've also been very goal oriented about my fitness, with a 5-day split, and seeing how even one drink messes up with your ability to work out... faster heart rate, less endurance, not hitting that last rep.... made me want to quit. Like, I never did before, it was unimaginable... but the longer I'm away from it the less I want it, which is why i don't want to have it for as long as i can because just having one leads to another.

      Drinking regularly but in moderate amounts is actually a lot healthier than drinking occasionally but to excess. A dram a day will have no ill health effects.

    I don't drink and never have, but I work in a restaurant/bar and frequently am around people who do or have. One co-worker told me, "I wish that I had never even started drinking." She told me she was finally quitting; she always knew she had a problem but waking up in a puddle of her own urine on her kitchen floor was the straw the broke the camel's back for her. A couple of weeks after telling me this, she no call no showed to work. Turns our she stayed up late getting drunk and didn't wake up until well into the afternoon. She has given up on giving up, at least for now.
    Another co-worker told me, "I quit drinking and it was like all my problems in life disappeared. Literally all of them. I wish I had known that it would be like this sooner. Whenever my friends tell me about problems that they're having, I just want to yell it to them: stop drinking, this is the solution."
    I'm so grateful that I never started. It hurts seeing people my age, people that I grew up with and went to school with falling to this demon. People don't seem to talk about it much but alcoholism is a much bigger problem than people seem to think, and a lot of the people that "drink in moderation" really don't. Addiction is hard to control. Why even bother with it in the first place? If you haven't started, don't. I tell this to people all the time. Because it's sad seeing people's lives falling apart before they're even in their mid 20s. Seeing the struggles my sister has on a daily basis because of it has been devastating. Watching the father of my nephew go from a respectable man and a good father to someone who doesn't even want to spend time with his kid because he'd rather be out drinking has been horrifying.

      Yep. 3-4 years ago on a physical my doctor asked if I was doing anything interesting lately. When I replied no then he said, "That's good, that means you're healthy." It was a simple yes-no question but it changed my perspective on what was fun and what was "fun" completely.

    I've been a moderate to heavy drinker through most of my 20s but around the end of last year I began to curb my drinking and started working out. After a couple of months I quit drinking altogether because I could tell it was holding me back when all I really wanted to do was feel healthier. Since then I've found your videos and they're really inspiring me to lean more into nutrition and learn how to take care of my body. Thanks for the videos!

    Whenever I find I'm drinking too much (i binge drink, sometimes it can be a few times a week, and I mean a litre of vodka in a single night) I try and bring my sleep pattern into focus and try to shift it so I wake up at around 4-5am and go to sleep at around 7-8pm. I always found that to be the single best thing for me to stop drinking completely... until I end up going to sleep later and later, then start drinking again on a night.

    45 now. I was never a daily drinker, but rather an 18-24 times/yr binge drinker. Ive slowed down significantly, but still binge drink 4-6 times/yr. I shutter to think what I've done to my body 😬

    I was never more than an occasional drinker, but I stopped drinking completely 4 or 5 years ago. I was attending a nutrition class for cancer survivors and when it was brought up that any amount of alcohol, even "light" drinking, is associated with cancers all along the GI tract, that was the tipping point for me. I already had been working on a detox & rehab unit for several years, every day seeing people damaged in so many ways by drinking, and wanting to avoid going through having cancer again finally got me to call it quits altogether. The downsides are so numerous and the only benefit I ever really felt was the lowering of my admittedly high social inhibitions, and there's ways to get better at that without ruining my life.

    7:00 I think this requires an explenation. 20% sounds really scary, but it doesn't mean that if you drink you have a 20% chance of getting cancer, this means that if you had for example a 5% chance of geting cancer, if you would drink on top of it you would have a 6% chance (6 is 20% more than 5, 5*1,2=6)

      There’s no way to measure this. Science tells us a lot, but we still know very little. When it comes with alcohol, the really issue is the chances of forming an addiction or dependence, which is hard to kick and, that makes the estimates even more unpredictable.

    To me, Alchohol is the least concerning thing compared to stuff like added sugar or trans fats for one simple reason: You have to go out of your way to drink, whereas with the other options you have to go out of your way to AVOID them.
    I drink, and I smoke cigars too. I'm aware they are likely shortening my life, I am aware that they can and likely will have effects later in life. Obviously I limit these things and I take steps to avoid getting addicted. But I chose to drink. I exercised my free will to do these things because I wanted to.
    I cannot say the same for getting fat eating McDonalds, and being sold hyper addictive foods from age 0-22. And I have struggled more with food addiction that I have ever struggled with putting down a bottle, or not smoking for months on end.

      I’m 21 and I too struggle with food, but I realized something recently. I looked at the ingredients for some Taco Bell food items and saw how shitty they really were for you, so I bought some lean meat and carb free tortillas and made my own wrap that had 3x the protein and 8x less carbs than the item Taco Bell was selling, and it was more or less the same price. Even though I’m drinking 2 handles a week, eating healthy foods, mostly ones that aren’t processed really helps.

    Alcohol is a slippery slope. The historical abuse profile is the same today - of a life so brutal emotionally or physically that the relief experienced when on the drug is far preferable.
    And there's research about whether individual genes are responsible for sensitivity to that addiction.
    But in small amounts, is the lubricant that oils every social engagement for anyone not hogtied by religious rules.
    And for those of us on the introvert side is the only reason we have any social life at all.
    So count non-nutritional benefits highly. It's not about the years lived, but did you spend them wisely?

    I was an alcoholic between ages 23-24, drank almost everyday and lots of days heavy and March 2023 I got chest pains and scared the shit out of me, went up doctor and diagnosed with early stage GERD since heart rythem came out fine but blood pressure was 158/98, I weighed 225lbs and I’m 5’ 6”, got blood work and I had elevated liver enzymes, pre-diabetes, high triglycerides, high cholesterol…..scared the shit of me, I still drank but significantly cut back to 2-3 times weekly and didn’t get as drunk and made sure I bought sugar free alcohol (there are some brands) and I started exercising daily, I lost 30lbs (now weigh 195lbs) and did a follow up in December 2023, doctor was impressed, blood pressure down to 135/84 (still not ideal but significantly better) reversed pre-diabetes, liver enzymes normal range, triglycerides in normal range, but cholesterol still elevated but better, daily drinking was destroying my body but luckily life style changes and cutting back 60% of my drinking significantly boosted my health, if I completely cut drinking I feel like I would further loose weight but is so HARD to cut it off

      Eat your basic metabolic rate every day and exercise like ride a bike every night in the cool breeze. Eat Whole Foods like apples, etc. I was 180 and lost a pound or 2 per week just doing that.

    I enjoy throwing back some brews but sometimes I have to take a step back and realize I've been overconsuming on a consistent basis (2-4 beers 5+ days of the week) and need to chill out for a couple weeks. My body has its way of letting me know, mainly being low quality trips to the bathroom

    So I get the whole alcohol is bad for you but I still wouldve enjoyed at least a comparison of kcal per portion in this one. When doing 'bad', i still like to know which 'bad' is 'least bad'. Also, how does one portion of alcohol compare to a soda drink? These are things I'd love to hear about on this channel.
    Anyways, thanks for the reminder that a daily glass of wine is a detriment to my health, even though I feel like it's less destructive than an acidic drink with sweeteners like a soda.

    Just because alcohol isn't healthy doesn't mean you can't have a healthy relationship with alcohol.
    -Drink in moderation: this applies both to how much you drink day to day and how much you drink in a sitting. Less is more. A nice buzz is better than being drunk and drinking on fewer occasions makes those occasions more memorable/satisfying.
    - Stay hydrated: Having some water between drinks will both slow you down (which is generally good) and can reduce the risk/severity of a hangover (though it's generally best to avoid hangovers all together).
    -Be wary of sugar and food sensitivities: alcohol seems to amplify the negative effects of these things. For example, if you're allergic to grapes be extremely careful of wine. If you have problems with some grains be careful around beer. And make cocktails fresh instead of buying them premixed where they're pumped full of sugar and preservatives (they also taste way worse). Even a relatively small amount of alcohol can turn a mildly upset stomach into projectile vomiting or a light headache into a raging migraine.
    -The more time between your last drink and going to bed the better: despite the negative cultural connotations for day drinking, your sleep will be much better if you give your body time to process the alcohol in your bloodstream while you're awake. I'm not saying to get drunk by noon, but consider cracking that beer before dinner instead of after or better yet (if appropriate) have a drink at lunch instead. This goes out the window with heavy drinking (since it will take your body well until after you sleep to process it either way) but if we're talking only 1 or 2 drinks, giving yourself 4-6 hours between your last drink and going to bed will help a lot with sleep.
    Finally be active: alcohol + inactivity (and consuming a normal amount of calories) is a surefire ticket to weight gain. Regular exercise will give you a much larger margin for error.
    Overall, everyone should set boundaries regarding alcohol and everyone's boundaries are going to be different. A healthy amount of drinking is going to look way different for a short 21 year old woman compared to a tall 28 year old guy. If everyone at a party is drinking the same amount, usually over half of them are making mistakes. So please, look out for yourself and your friends and for the love of God don't drive drunk.

    I find it pretty easy to drink in moderation. The price helps but I just find it difficult to drink too much to the point where I actually get too drunk. Drinking is nice though just enough to take the edge off. I don't drink very often though maybe once or twice a month.

      Alcoholism is a loose beast in my family. Although I've managed to keep the frequency relatively low, like once per weekend, it's pretty hard for me to say 'that's it, I had enough'. The drunker I get, the harder it is for me to stop.
      That's why I try to be as healthy as possible, so I can at least off set a little bit of the damage. It's not a healthy relationship, but it's what I can do for now.

      I never really used to drinking much most of my life. I actually drunk alcohol for the first time when i was 22. And of course, having started so late, i didn't have much drinking capacity and often found the side effects horribly debilitating. Despite my late introduction, it still managed to become a problem. The big problem with the one or two drinks comes when times are hard, and the euphoria of alcohol becomes an easy escape. That's when the one or two drinks can easily become a habit.

    I wanted to quit for 30 days, but it felt so good that I went for 90. Well, that felt so good that now I'm at, I don't even know, maybe 600 days? Stopped counting, but I feel great. I'm just so grateful that I figured this out at a relatively young age before it had a chance to lead to some serious problems down the line. It scares me to think about what my life would have became had I continued using this stuff, and I wasn't even using it that hard, just the weekend warrior story.

    I do enjoy a drink from time to time, but have seen exactly what alcohol can do to others in so many ways (father, friends, etc) so knowing that history alone makes me make sure it stays under control. I haven't gotten myself drunk in probably five years at this point and I'm better for it. its mostly just one or two at a social, or maybe a glass with dinner. Still could stand to cut it out, but that's where it will likely remain.

    I will say that I have come to love collecting whiskey. I have a 1oz pour maybe 2-3 times a week. Sometimes I have one 1oz pour everyday for a week, sometimes I go a weeks without having a pour at all. The main thing when it comes to alcohol is to pace yourself and drink responsibly. While my 1oz pour probably won’t hurt me, im a radiation therapist and work with cancer patients everyday. I have esophageal and laryngeal cancer patients fairly frequently and every single one are heavy drinkers, heavy smokers, or a combination of the 2. Let me tell you, neck cancers are some of the worst I see, they experience the most pain as a side effect from the radiation than any other patient we have and most need feeding tubes cause of the pain swallowing causes.

That is the reason we developed alcohol dehydroginase in the first place. The problem is that we concentrate it to high levels.     I did learn some things from this.
    As I get older, I keep learning how bad alcohol really is. I didn't used to think it was bad unless you overdid it.
    But I have no desire to drink. I've saved a lot of money drinking tea instead.

    Love your series and understand why you are being drastic about alcohol. I would argue, though, that wine has its advantages - obviously consumed in moderation (whatever that may be …)

    Never been drunk in my whole life, not a single time, and I plan on keeping it that way. The most alcohol I ever consume at once is a sip or two during the first toast at a gathering, simply out of respect, and thats it, my glass stays full for the rest of the night.

    I need this video right now lol I've decided this month to try and drink absolutely no alcohol (since I failed last month). Theres temptation eveywhere and i really want to cut down, maybe not quit entirely but to cut down and not have more than a couple drinks a month. This video helped remind me why I'm doing it. I want to live a healthy, longer, and more purposeful/deliberate life

    The scary thing about alcohol, is that you can be the type of person who has no interest in it, and if anything, prefers not to drink, and still be drawn in by the viciously addictive properties of alcohol. I barely had a sip outside of special occasions until I was 22, and now I’m trying not to drink two pints a day every day. Once you cross that threshold of addiction, there’s seemingly no going back. The only substances in the world more addictive than it are chemically pure(ish) opium derivatives. Just fucking stay away from it. You’ll be fat; sick, and unable to even get the 6 inches you were given to stand at attention. All mankind, beware of whiskey.

    Are there differences between the types of alcohols? For example, I’ve heard the benefits to heart health due to light drinking is from the resveratol found in red wine. I was also informed from a pathologist that most of the negative effects we hear that is a result of alcohol consumption is largely from hard liquor. Is there evidence other compounds in beer, wine, and kombucha (hard and soft) contribute to anything from a holistic approach, be it net positive or negative?
    By the way, great video. I think you’re the best source for easily digestible fact based nutrition information that invokes discussion.

      Lower is always better, but this number is not that worrying. To clarify, after a quick Google, I got a stat of 11 in 100 000 people getting oral cancer, or 0.011%. A 20% increase means your chance of getting this cancer now is 0.011 * 1.2, which is 0.0132%.

    At one point, my mother was everything I could ever hope to be. She cared for her health, had a thriving social life, was loved amongst her peers at work and was one of their best. A truly respectable and loving person that could make anyone feel cared for. Today, she’s an alcoholic. We’ve tried it all. My hero and the person I looked up to the most died many years ago, and I’ll helplessly live with the pain of watching her die for the rest of my life. I don’t think her being drunk on the couch or 6 feet underground will change the pain, just intensify it in the moment. Be better.

    I used to drink a bit- nothing too crazy, about one drink every other day- for a few years. But for me, it came to a point where really anything with alcohol started to taste worse and worse and it eventually got to a point where it would make me gag and feel sick with even the smallest amount. That absolutely helped me cut it out of my life entirely about two years ago. No desire to go back to what I consider to be a disgusting poison on my body.

    What ruins most beers is the BPA lining in the cans and GMO sourced grains ! Im been sober for 4 months ! I still drink but from glass bottles 1 or 2 light beers a day ! I do exercise quit a bit and doing keto also helps ! What most people cannot do is understand moderation is key !

    Glad you did this "nutrient" finally! Lol. I only drank maybe every 3-4 months most of my adult life -- never very hard, and only with others. Still, I always hated how it made me felt, both during and after. I never liked being less in control of my body, mind, speech etc. So after drinking every weekend last December for the holidays (work and political functions, first time drinking that much in a row), I felt so disgusting by the end of it... I have no idea how people do this every weekend, let alone every day.
    I haven't drank since December, and I never intend on doing it again. Did a lot of research about its impact on the body, and there's now no way I could ever justify drinking again. It so dramatically impacts my performance in the gym for days after, my mental clarity at work, my decision making, and my wallet lmao. It's just not worth it. It is definitionally, literally, poison. And you're infinitely better off not putting it in your body. To whoever reads this - I promise, you won't "become lame" by not drinking. 99% of people don't care if you don't want to drink when you go out or hang with people. If they DO care, they aren't people you need to be around.

      Sometimes when I go to a bar or smth with friends and I don't want to drink I ask for a drink without alcohol, usually mojitos without alcohol are a good option and the servers dont mind preparing it, even if they don't have it listed on the menu. Basically any drink that is mostly composed of fruit juice, soda, water.. etc.
      That way you don't loose the social side of it by totally avoiding the place.

    Great vid, Talon! Love hearing the breakdown on things like this - I don't drink myself being slightly epileptic. In theory, the odd drink in a year isn't unsafe, but in general consuming something like even 2 beers in an evening risks generating a seizure later in my sleep or something. Alcohol, as far as I know, is actually the only thing thats generated a motor seizure for me as an adult (i think, i mean, i was asleep, lol), where as 99% of my activity is otherwise partial/focal seizure which is the more 'absent' style you might hear of where someone just stares off into space, lol
    But because of it I just avoid alcohol entirely, I think i've had like, a single ginger beer and half of an apple cider in the last two years or more. Find as an adult it's kind of awkward avoiding alcohol, not doing the bar, etc as for lots of your peers, even if you're not out gettin' crunk, it's kind of the 'go-to' thing for part of how lots of adults and friendgroups socialize together.

    Thank you for making this. Solid, informative, no filler. I've managed to reduce my weekly drinking on the weekends down to 1-4 Standard drinks per month.

    Hey guys, glad to watch this video, actually i've trying really hard to stay away from both coffee and alcohol, there's a cycle for me that i wake up, go to work and drink coffee, 2 cups per day basically, I get anxious, then I wash it down with beer... yeah and the cycle goes on.
    I'm trying to drink decaf coffee and drink non alcoholic beer just to try calming down when feeling very anxious, it looks like it's helping me a little bit.
    Does decaf or non alcoholic beer have any significant downsides?

    Funny seeing this video just after returning from church service here in Cyprus, my pastor all decked out in green for St. Patrick's Day. Luckily, he's allergic to alcohol. Once at a wedding he accidentally tasted from a glass of beer and even though he didn't swallow but spat it all out he still had to be rushed to the hospital! I'm happy for him though, his allergy likely kept him out of many troubles.

    I've almost entirely stopped drinking as of about 2 months ago. I might still have a single beer once a week, but I surprisingly don't miss it.
