    6:40 to add another thing American crayfish are an invasive species in Japan while Sukuna is quite literally a parasite to his host

    • @jthunter8529
      @jthunter8529 หลายเดือนก่อน +31

      Also I don't believe he would understand that there was a American crayfish in the first place as he'd never have heard of a invasive species unless he somehow learned about invasive species from someone's memories (I think to boring for him)(not disproving you or disagreeing just thought it was interesting)

    • @elliotbuera6891
      @elliotbuera6891 หลายเดือนก่อน +18

      A lot of things in the chapter can be considered parasitic. Like you said, Sukuna, the American crayfish but also the presticides that may have taken out the grasshoppers and the department store that shut down the mom and pop shops. Yuji appreciates the small and delicate such as grasshoppers, horses, soft serve, and the small crayfish. Quite a beautiful chapter love Yuji

    • @Sienisota
      @Sienisota หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@elliotbuera6891Could also be a parallel to time moving on and new things taking out the old. Sukuna represents a time long past. Past had many beautiful things that Yuji appreciates, but time moves on, the next generation takes over the old.
      Some invasive species become part of their new ecosystems, with humanity becoming a predator culling them regularly and stopping them from over-populating and destroying everything around them. Humanity brought the problem species, but has learnt to live with it, helping the environment combat against them.
      Sukuna is the invasive species that awoke from Yuji's well meaning actions. But Yuji is willing to take over the burden of culling Sukuna: Not killing them fully, but stopping them from destroying everything around them. But if Sukuna refuses, there are things like targeting pesticides, and spreading a campaign to kill out the invasive species:
      It takes time, resources and money, but invasive species can be destroyed and removed IF there is enough will behind the effort. And Yuji has that will, and he has people willing to help him stomp out Sukuna.

      @@dr.consumerock6798 I think Sukuna does not care about what is thought of him after he dies. If Yorozu had won and he died, he said he did not care if she married him (his dead body?), because for him when you lose you lose everything, and for him death is the clearest loss.
      But I agree with you that Sukuna really cares about his pleasures and displeasures in the present, he cares about his ego in the now, so he cannot avoid losing his temper to Yuuji's defiance of everything he stands for. For someone always so focused, and for all his talk of "I understand but don't care", he does care when it pisses him off. This lack of self-control is a clear weakness and already played into his arrogance to not sense Yuuji's lethality whatever it is that he will do. Someone living entirely for himself will always reach this point of self-destruction, because he cannot help himself but lose it when he is so humiliatingly denied like this.

  • @LordFlack0
    @LordFlack0 หลายเดือนก่อน +311

    Sukuna also will never admit that Yuji is already changing him. If Sukuna were actually steadfast in his ideals he would not let someone like Yuji to bother him. But Yuji does bother him, he absolutely hates and rejects Yuji. He has even adjusted his goals to focus on taking out not just Yuji but his ideals. Sukuna is not noticing how much of an impact Yuji has on him. He made him go from thinking Yuji is insignificant to having an actual goal focused on destroying Yuji. His desire is no longer all that matters.

      I doubt that's the main reasons.
      Most Anime only say the show is awful because they misunderstanding the hype from what the Manga community is trying to say and the Manga fans meanwhile staying in their headcanon instead of what gege is doing, and when the work is uploaded, and if it's not how it is in their headcanon they proclaim that thew whole is trash and they drop while acting dramatic, yet, returning every week and saying same thing.
      While also judging differently for every chapter rather the whole arc and then for a single chapter they say the whole show is awful is also very common.
      Very stupid from the community.

    Also, what struck me about Yuuji's monologue is that it's just so... incredibly, utterly human. Small realizations of growing up, always noticing the small things and reflecting upon them. There's nothing grand or boisterous about it; it was a normal if lonely childhood. Instead of rejecting this simplicity in the search for greatness, he appreciates it as it is. And this leads to the way he sees everyone else too, all of the relationships he's had with people. They're all equally valuable despite the differences. They're all inherently loveable, all inherently human. Sukuna doesn't know how to love because he rejects his humanity.
    I missed this kind of symbolic writing by Gege.

      Yepp, I think sukuna forces himself to not have personal connections as a way of protecting himself from being hurt once that bond is broken & knowing what he said about his childhood & him being unwanted… maybe he was abandoned by his mother & it destroyed him. Maybe he refuses to have personal connections out of fear of losing that person & the pain that comes from it, he doesn’t want to go through that again; He’s battling childhood trauma from being abandoned?
      Convincing himself that the only thing that matters is being selfish because you don’t have to worry about anyone hurting you but you.

    Some part of me feels that Sukuna has been unconsciously training Yuji. Sukuna is so powerful because he is extremely lonely. He is the ultimate culmination of the idiom, “It’s lonely at the top”. The only method he has to truly connect is through power and a war of ideals. He even allows himself to be sealed so that he can hopefully find others capable of the same commitment to their ideals and thus able to potentially match his strength. He recognizes this quality in Yuji, even though he absolutely hates it and fears it. Yuji is the only person capable of matching him in the realm of ideals, the only person capable of killing him, and thus the only person capable of truly connecting with him. Sukuna essentially admits that what he is witnessing is the sharing of experience with another sorcerer during a great battle. And of course, Yuji is his descendant. There is much to gain for Sukunas ego if Yuji is capable of the same monstrous feats that Sukuna is. Behind every fear is a wish.

    In some ways, Gege has already shown us what the outcome of this battle will be, and whose ideals are more correct. The entire idea of the soul has collectivistic implications in and of itself. Souls of the deceased metaphorically meeting at an airport is archetypically similar to many great works of religion and fiction that portray human souls as fundamentally connected. Just by introducing those airplane scenes as well as this experience with Sukuna as canon events, Gege is essentially indicating that Yuji (and in some ways Gojo’s) philosophy is correct.

What if when Yuji activated his domain, it landed and he was able to hit the soul and now they’re talking there(kinda like Yuji and Sukuna did back in season 1 or like mahito did in season 1 and shibuya)? I don’t necessarily believe this is the domain or afterlife because I believe that this is all taking place in the soul of either Yuji or Sukuna (probably Yuji). For me personally, Sukuna has been an enigma ever since he showed up, he reincarnated after hundreds of years and immediately thinks of massacre, that how low the value of life is to him, not just human life, but a even a curse as Mahito, one with boundless potential, is nothing but a foolish tool to him, someone who changed the balance of the world, Gojo, was nothing but painfully ordinary until the very end, time and time again he was shown to be disinterested in things that come so naturally to us, he speaks in poetry, in the original Japanese atleast, someone as otherworldly as that was kind of brought down to Earth for one chapter, to be that was something to behold as a story, I loved this chapter all the way through.

    I’ve had this feeling since the beginning but I think sukuna forces himself to not have personal connections as a way of protecting himself from being hurt once that bond is broken & knowing what he said about his childhood & him being unwanted… maybe he was abandoned by his mother & it destroyed him. Maybe he refuses to have personal connections out of fear of losing that person & the pain that comes from it, he doesn’t want to be hurt / abandoned again. Essentially he forced himself to become absolutely selfish, the total opposite of a human, all to protect himself; He’s battling childhood trauma from being abandoned?
    Convincing himself that the only thing that matters is being selfish because you don’t have to worry about anyone hurting you but you.
    I 100% believe this to be the reason.

    One criticism I do have about the chapter is that we never actually got to see how and when Yuji had the perspective shift that he mentioned in the chapter, giving people a meaningful death was the entire point of his character, I think it would be fun to speculate when that happened, I personally think it was when he saw Megumi traumatised inside Sukuna begging for death but really I just wish Gege spent more time on that, like with half the goddamm story

    Maki may have been the first so make Sukuna take up a 'role' but it's only yuji who seems to make him actively defend his ideals. Against Maki he was ecstatic about seeing which way was superior. Against Yuji though, there is nothing but a seemingly primal need to be right.
    Sukuna is no longer fighting purely to fulfil his desires but to prove himself to this one brat. That is the power of Yuji, to connect so freely to so many people, understand them and have them reciprocate.
    Todo said he adapts to fighting with and against others with ease which ,in a battle shonen, is the same as understanding someone. Unlike Gojo he is not 'alone the honoured one' but simply someone who exists within a world he believes it is right to protect.
    Now Sukuna fights to prove himself while Yuji lives purely on his desire to save, even offering to spare the king of curses. A deliciously mirrored end point for the series.

    This chapter was absolutely necessary for JJK's pacing. Once it ends and stops coming out weekly, could you imagine how much of a slugfest Shinjuku would be to read if it was NOTHING but action? Fights are awesome, but JJK is still a story and it needs to be told- it can't be told with JUST fights. Honestly that's a big reason why I personally haven't been paying much attention to this arc until now- it didn't mean anything, it wasn't tying anything up. It was just "Character does THIS crazy thing!!!" and then dies. Now we really have a reminder of why this fight is even going on and it's a beautiful breath of fresh air.
    tl;dr jjk needed a break from action

    Kashimo saw Sukuna as absolute perfection. A monster built with efficiency even his own life ending technique couldn't equate.
    GoJo saw Sukuna as an equal. A fellow monster.
    Yuta saw Sukuna as something... else... not above or below, but essentially a curse.
    YuJi saw Sukuna for what he was. A pitiable fool who never learned compassion. One who will never learn it, and should be eradicated as such. Unempathetically. As he is beneath him.

  • @paleking
    @paleking หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Sukuna positions himself on might makes right, but he doesn’t actually have any substance beyond winning. If the story were from Sukuna’s perspective, there wouldn’t be any dialogue, just descriptions of fights people lose to him. But it’s not that kind of story. Yuji is confronting Sukuna with his experiences, which were all about losing things that just couldn’t be won with strength and tactics: his clumsiness (the slime), how the world changed (the crowds), how nameless middlemen decide how this world looks (the lack of green in the city), how people pass away (his grandpa and friends), and how he once thought a singular purpose (to be a cog) would diminish one more unfairness in the world (curses). Instead of disengaging, Sukuna does the curious thing of “playing” with Yuji in archery, crayfishing, and observing flowers. Sukuna certainly sees them as competition but Yuji integrates them as activities that pass the time and make the empty city feel alive. Yuji basically showed Sukuna a slice of life and implied “your philosophy does take interest in this world and it’s the foundation for how people have fun; you’re a Type-A competitive person, not a tyrant with some grand design on the world.” Sukuna gets big mad when he realizes Yuji believes he has successfully trivialized Sukuna’s excellence and has the audacity to believe a humbled person can humble Sukuna at his own game.

    This chapter finally made the teach about love thing click for me in a satisfying way. Like you said Manga, juxtaposed to the constant battles, we really got to let this breathe (with some beautiful panels i might add)
    Based on the amount of control Yuji seems to have in this pocket dimension, It continues to seem like sukunas arc of learning about love isnt really ending in a 180, its in being forced to respect that someone who refused to become animalistic, selfish, curse-like, will low-diff him in a 1 on 1. I didn't know where this chapter would go. I was surprised, confused and sort of ... "frustrated" with the chapter 264? It was because of how Yuji suddenly pulled a domain expansion out of nowhere immediately after getting clocked by reincarnated Sukuna. I thought, "well this is a bit sudden, and why is his domain this?" But, after reading chapter 265, I've completely changed my mind on it. While the domain's appearance was a bit strange and sudden in the way it shifted the tone of the recent ark, it was honestly just amazing at how it quickly characterized Yuji and Sukuna. It shines a light on the character growth and sincerity of Yuji and the unchanging and unfeeling character of Sukuna. It also intrigued me that Sukuna actually followed Yuji as he showed him his home. It was almost as if his admission of not feeling a thing throughout their walk and talk was him subconsciously admitting that he might have wanted to feel or gain something from it but ultimately gained nothing. That also makes Yuji's pity of the King of Curses hit way harder. Honestly I recommend playing "Licht" by Hiriyoki Sawano or "Purple Clouds" by Kensuke Ushio and possibly "Drowning of The Former Emperor", also by Kensuke Ushio, near the end of the chapter where Sukuna starts saying "I don't feel a thing" while reading the chapter. It was so good and so ...
    Beautiful.

    In a world full of despair and death. To the extent that everyone important to you is constantly dropping off. The easiest choice is to say "I am a cog" we are all just cogs.
    Sukuna's way is to close off and just decide that nobody's life matters. Yuji's Cog mentality was the idea that even if life doesn't matter we all have a role to play. But Yuji's new mentality is everyone's life matters. There are no shortcuts. Even Sukuna's life matters. And it would be easy to take this worldview in a world that wasn't shit. Where your friends somehow always survived all fights. But in this world? This level of compassion is extremely painful to have. But that's Yuji.

    Sukuna seems completely in character for me. I would argue that he stands firm in his ideals without a doubt. Sukuna believes that the strongest person is in charge. Only the powerful get to make decisions. Yuji is incredibly weak when compared to Sukuna, even now. This is only a fight at all because he was jumped and nerfed so hard, and even still, he is more than capable of winning. Thats how strong this guy is. When Yuji pitied Sukuna, in his eyes its a right be doesn't have. I am the most powerful sorcerer so I can decide anything I want, for anybody. Who can stop me? You however are weak. Its a fact that I can one shot you with negative difficulties. To pity me is a MASSIVE insult. You are NOT strong. I believe that is why he's pissed.
    Each time Sukuna feels disrespected he lashes out.
    He took the girls offer as a command with an unworthy offering.
    Jogo didn't bow low enough.
    Mahito touched him twice.
    But when it came to Gojo, who talk mad trash and nearly killed him...he respected him. He did worse than everybody else but thats okay because he was strong. He smiled when Gojo called him the challenger. Yuji is NOT THAT GUY to Sukuna.

    Even without action, I loved this chapter. I wholly believe that this is his “domain expansion” but since he said he didn’t even know what it really was it gives me a few ideas: he literally pulled an asspull with his knowledge of barrier techniques from Kusakabe and his willpower to get this domain or he very well knows what he did and he hid it from Sukuna so that, at the end, he could say “I can kill you” like he did. For the first way, like Sukuna noticed at the beginning, Yuji has had this ability and inadvertently used it on Todo and Choso, he just didn’t know how to purposely use it until when Choso shielded him from the furnace, which Yuji used it to gain a few more minutes with his brother. With that being said, when the domain ends or breaks, Yuji’s shrine should still be online because the technique imbued in the barrier is the one that goes on a cooldown, however domains take a lot of power to use so he might be in a tough spot against damn near 100% Sukuna. For the second part, what I really feel it is, Yuji knew going into the domain what he was doing, just didn’t know how it would take form since he only just learned how to activate the technique a few minutes ago(Choso shield moment). He knew the entire time that his shrine should still be ready once and if the domain ends, as he imbued the memory technique into the barrier. So when he tells Sukuna he can kill him and gives that ultimatum, he’s not just acting with willpower. I feel like next chapter will go, “Are you forgetting, Sukuna? We’re in MY domain.” and Yuji will go to get in stance to fight, with Sukuna trying to domain expansion to break it, realizing he can’t due to the nature of Yuji’s domain and how he’s not in his current form, they’re merely manifestations of their soul battling in the domain, so the fight will be based on regular human attacks, which Yuji has the upper hand in since he’s more human and has had more hands fighting experience in my opinion (Sukuna mostly uses his technique unless he can’t, like in the previous set of chapters).

    While the chapter was good, its okay to admit that some of the dialogue could be cut without changing a single thing in the story. The details of the idealogies were probably at the beginning and the end where Sukuna literally tells Yuji to get to the point 😅. But stuff like Yuji hitting his toe somewhere as a kid for example can easily be removed without changing anything. If the point was that Yuji is a regular person with connections, some of the chapter can be removed while still making the same point.
    And it is okay to admit it. The chapter was still good. But it isn't flawless. The criticisms don't come out of nowhere.
    And this video embodies it because it doesn't even go into everything in this chapter, just the relevant parts. A very simple proof that decent parts of this chapter were padding.

    JJK is how you write a Legacy.
    In order to understand this Legacy we Must first Understand Shonen.
    I don't know that much brief History but what i know It got popular after Ww2 when Kids lost their Parents and these Mangas and their Protagonists became Role model for them and with the Birth of Astro Boy he shaped the life of many Adults today.
    A Shonen is basically a Comic Book(sorry) directed towards Children that teaches them the true reality of this world but inturn give them hope to stand up and face the Calimity with head up high called the Future.
    JJK depicts this perfectly with Curses and Sukuna.
    They are What world shaped them to be they are evil and there's no hope of considering peace.
    Sometimes(always) things may not go your way as you intend to but you have to stand up again and again or Cry and Cower in fear.
    Its not Weak or Bad to be a Coward(That one guy who has a Luck Curse Technique is Symbolism for Retribution or What goes back,Comes Back).the Pain of being Weak and incapable of doing your work hurts,this is shown through Megumi but even in this Abyss of Despair there is Hope as long as you Believe in yourself or make someone else believe in you,Hope would be there depicted in Form of Yuji.
    Setting aside Gege's fetish of Killing of Characters,Every person you meet on your way is like a Pot plant or a Flower in a Field It would first sprout from Seed and would Bloom,set its seed and Wither away just like that The Friends you know may not be around for too long and sometimes things would be Like The Flower being eaten by an Animal or Pluck by Fate.
    But even so one should not give up in despair as such the Flower we know of Sprouted new seeds after it Blossomed its memory is saved in someones mind thus just likr that,the people live on within you.
    Thats itself is a Lie on itself
    "Its either you bend to the truth of the World or Live a Lie"
    -Miyamoto Musashi.

    THIS is Yuji’s selfishness. He’s finally committed to his own beliefs and his potential as a sorcerer will be brought to the front. I’m excited.
    Also, this domain definitely exists either in Yuji or Sukuna’s soul. Probably Yuji’s, but Yuji’s memories might exist in Sukuna’s too. I bet Yuji wins if he dies in the domain

    He's memory no jutsu-ing him with his or Megumi's memories. Not in terms of literal flashback, but with "memory that never happened" like we first see with Junpei, then Todo, and most importantly, Choso.

    I like that sukuna won't just be swayed by talk and empathy like most anime villains. He's raw real and doesn't give a cursed rat's ass about some kid's childhood

    I think the mid domain delusion could be used for two reasons:
    1). To precursor to sukuna's death delusion conversation, because showing both would be too much or substitute it out altogether from some betrayal or the merger.
    2). To give hints of Yuji's domain. The delusion or maybe innate domain showed, him using an arrow (his fuga), a train station (sukuna's innate looks like a rib cage, I assume a stomach), a statue mentioned is will be his domain ability interpreted as slashes, a shrine, maybe the flowers are around the shrine, and the shellfish shows their differences. I'm assuming his domain will be a shrine surrounded by flowers, and still have fuga but somehow as kinder version of Sukuna's.
