We've gone through periods of talking on the phone where I've felt the need to ask him questions because, while he calls me (used to be too often imo) his tone is very monotone, low energy even when he's laughing.
I want to be more interested in him, but something about this annoys me to no end because I don't know why he hasn't noticed this in himself.
When I've spoken to him I've made quite an effort not to take over the conversation, to learn more about him, but it's a lot of "yeah... I dunno, the new position is good, the hours & schedule are working out pretty good."
