You know what I realise watching this scene : how great the direction of actors is. Look at them. It's not just the dialogues, it's everything, the body, the face, the eyes... Everything speak. Look at Simon body reaction when Wille tells him they should forget? Look at Wille's face in the end, when Simon leaves? That's why the show is so different from the other, there is an unbelievable attention to details and a wonderful direction of actors, that makes all the difference.

I completely agree with you. I have not seen directing and acting this good since Skam season 3. Both Edvin and Omar are very gifted actors.

This is amazing. And because it's them doing both the Swedish and English dubs, the switch is literally seamless and almost unnoticeable.
Oh really...hmm I think I'm more used to listening to dubs not getting it right and I fear I could hear it here too. But the boys have great English speaking skills. ^^
@@sunnyv7745 I don't agree with you. The most notable thing is the difference in the way sound was recorded. The dubbed voices sound more direct (closer to the mic). You can hear the dubbing was recorded in a studio and not on location.
@@marktegrotenhuis That's fine. I have been scared by Japanese anime English dubs so I guess I'm a bit nit picky when it comes to original voicing vs a dub. But I guess anime voicing is done in a studio too. Anyway, your right in the English dub for Young Royals you can tell it's more clearer but I heard they were just reading the lines in English....so that's maybe what I was hearing too XD

I can't get enough of this show. I've already watched it 4 times, and I'm trying to get all of my friends to watch it. I honestly think it's the best thing Netflix has put out in years. Please renew it for season 2!
I know that one of the underlying themes in the show is an exploration of the class system in Sweden, and this scene does an excellent job of portraying that in a very subtle way with Simon's inability to read sheet music. The ability to read sheet music denotes a classical training in the arts which is often associated with being upper class versus playing by ear or being self-taught which generally means a lower class status. Prince Wilhelm is such a gentleman in the way he sees past class differences and extends himself to Simon in so many small ways like in this scene ❤️
I had a chance to work with some aristocrats (not a royal family, just people with aristocrat titles): it was always been a pleasure not only working or having fun with them but just having a simple converstaion or being around them. They were so well behaved and natural in every word and jesture that I felt myself always at ease with them. I thought of this feeling while enjoying the acting of Edwin Ryding portraing a prince: one more plus point for his great job
You can't leave us heartbroken. We need season 2, I want a happy end for those two.

I know they dubbed themselves and that's so cool, but as someone who understands Swedish I feel like they convey the emotions way better in Swedish, so the original audio just hits different ❤️
I hope everyone watches it in Swedish at least once!! 🇸🇪 But the English dubbed version is of course great for those who don't speak Swedish and have trouble reading subtitles :)

since they acted the series in Swedish, it was probably easier for them to portray emotions while acting the part. Hence why the Swedish version is memorable, but they did a wonderful job dubbing it in English (considering they're not professionals)

I can't understand why people from some other countries (I'm swedish) can't or don't want to read the subtitle instead they want to see mouth's that don't matches the studio voices.
I only speak English and I prefer the subtitles to the dubbing. I agree that the Swedish language portrays what they were actually doing in the scene. The English was put on later and the voice acting just can’t be the same. Even though I do like hearing them say the lines in English with their voices, it feels more natural in Swedish, plus the words just don’t go with their mouths. I dislike dubbing. So I continue to use the subtitles for all the many times I replay my favorite scenes. 😍

As someone who speaks both languages, it took me a long time to realize they were switching. That's how good the actors are

As someone who doesn’t speak ANY SWEDISH I still believe that the emotion is portrayed so much better in Swedish even though I technically can’t understand it and am just reading subtitles, just the tone of their voice makes it much better in Swedish even if I don’t understand it
if i'm being honest this is the only english dub on netflix, apart from "into the night", that i was able to sit through.
i've tried other english dubs for spanish-language netflix tv and shows and i think i just feel like i hear the american accent everywhere and get tired of listening to it (exaggeration, i know). BUT these guys dubbed themselves, and they delivered - there's something about the actors really understanding their characters and being able to give the performance that they intended in the original version. as someone who doesn't know swedish but has watched this show over five times. twice in swedish with sub-titles and about three times in english (because i played it in the background whole i did tasks).

This scene is a masterpiece for the entire production team. I love it. There's so much material to be explored for a season 2 and more, that Netflix should not pass the opportunity to delight us, we the people of the world for Young Royals.

Netflix, you should do this with all of your non-English productions, having the actors do the dub themselves in English. (In countries where the population get to learn English at school, at least).
It makes it more autentic.
Because they know the emotions of the scenes the best, better than some random dub actor with some other voice.
they probably don’t because some of the actors may not know English or they cant portray the same kind of emotion speaking English
Reality Check: The talented Swedish cast of "Young Royals" is a very rare case of a country where students learn English during their academic studies from grade school onwards and are then able to dub Swedish dialogue productions into English so well! Good luck expecting Netflix to be able to do the same things in most other foreign countries where this is most definitely NOT the same case for the actors involved!:(
@@jimsummers3313 It´s not something unique for just Sweden, in the other Nordic countries it´s the same, the Dutch also speak good English. Most Germans speak decent English as well.
But ok, you´re right, perhaps it´s not possible in all productions. I stand corrected, and will correct my comment.
But I think all countries should make sure their population learns English at school. Can you imagine what that must be like, not understanding English? It must be so limiting, always having someome else translate things and being shut out from for instant being able to comment here on TH-cam. It would make me feel like a little child.
Also since we dont actually have dubbing on movies except children shows and movies in Sweden only subtitles We grew up hearing english and so on same with other nordic countries and the dutch.

It's very refreshing to watch this series in English as you can kinda tell they are not native English speakers, but as a fellow non-native it's so much easier to understand than most shows in their original version!
Now all I gotta do is learn Swedish well enough to understand this one completely with its original language :)
what a difficult thing for Simon to hear. it's incredible how much chemistry they have together.
I was switching between three languages: Swedish (Love it!), English and my native Ukrainian (the translation and dubbing are quite good, I enjoyed them very much). I was playing this 'switch' game during stadium and Wilhelm's room scenes, episode 4, the most difficult and beautiful for me. (Well, all these episodes are spotless, frankly speaking). Total amusement to do so! 🙃 Especially when you're re-watching the series for the third time or so 😂.
Everything about this wonderful show shines by its own light, starting from Wilhelm & Simon, who already belong to our hungry and suffering hearts... 💖💖💖
Netflix, please, stop this torture and let us know IMMEDIATELY that their amazing lovestory will live a real REVOLUTION in its long-awaited and uplifting SECOND season!!!

I don't speak Swedish but I think it's good that they dubbed it in English for people who have trouble reading the subtitles and don't understand Swedish. For me, I like the Swedish version because the story fits better with the original audio and I am able to read the subtitles.

When Wilhelm (Edvin Ryding) is at Simon's (Omar Rudberg) house and Simon is telling him the name of his fish, almost everything was improvised.
That's not true. Check out Sara Ahrrusius YR-stories on her Instagram.
Actually that's not true. Only the name of the fishes was improvised by Omar (but they talked about it beforehand, the director told him to come up with three names and Edvin recommended to use the names of Omar's former bandmates), most of the intimate scenes were choreographed and things were agreed beforehand actually. Not saying this to underline how talented both Edvin and Omar are, because they added a lot of their own ideas and lines to the show. But I'm seeing more and more people saying that they basically improvised the entire thing, which is simply not true and also takes away the credit from the entire crew. The directors & writers & the cast and every other person on set worked together, communicated their ideas and come up with stuff together as a team. Most (or all) of the intimate scenes were choreographed and supervised by the intimacy coordinator and talked through with Edvin and Omar before starting the rehearsal, then filming.
And even Edvin and Omar did the English dub too they're so talented ahh I adore them❤

Definitely not wrong! Edvin and Omar (as most other cast) recorded English voices themselves.
It's not their mother tongue but still they did amazing job translating the emotions of the scenes in English.
