I have just purchased my first ever GoPro the Hero 8 Black and this is by far the BEST video that I've seen explaining some great settings for us novices, Very thorough at a steady pace so one can take it all in and not have to keep going back to double take and a very pleasant tone of voice no shrieking etc etc. Just what I needed and I've no doubt will watch it a few more times. Subscribed and Thank You.
I don't normally comment on videos but I watch a LOT of how to videos. This is by far one of the best how to videos I have ever seen across any of the subjects I research. I strongly encourage anyone trying to instruct someone to use this video as a resource for a "how to" of how to videos. I watched this and I know exactly how to set up some basic settings but also what to consider when doing so. Brilliant.
I agree with Train or Die, just got the hero8, my first gopro, watched a couple of videos and this is by far the most informative without wasting your time.
Thanks for the info! You can also try 2.7K [4:3] because you can crop the image as 16:9 and still having image information at top and bottom. The quality is the same but in 4:3 you get more pixels as 16:9 is croped. Also deforming 4:3 you can achieve superview.
Detailed and helpful, I had a cheaper knock off that got little use. I determined that an 8 vs the new 12 was my sweet spot at used price of one quarter which gave me room for accessories. Now i can document my vacation in Hawaii in and out of Ocean 🤙
Just ordered my 8 while also owning a Hero 4. Looking forward to the upgrade. Probably the best video on the topic so far. I like how you give the why you do things and a clear example on the how when applicable as opposed to other videos where the presenter just says that the camera can do this or that and you can choose what ever..... Looking forward to watching more of your work.
My brother bought me a GoPro but I'm completely new to this. I follow your settings, in particular sharpness to medium, everything instantly looks better LOL cheers!
Without a doubt the best GoPro settings video i've seen yet. I've owned my Hero 8 for months but this really crystallized some of the settings for me. Thanks so much!
This is the kind of video that should be in youtube great information. I've seen gro pro video tutorial too much blah blah just a waste of time but this one is worth watching.
Thank you for the great informative video. I just ordered my first GoPro, GoPro Hero 8 and this video will make it so much easier for me to get started and to come back to for future reference. Much appreciated!
my gopro 8 has a bad audio recording. it turns low and high and its so annoying. that what brought me here. this is very clear tutorial. i will try some of the settings here hopefully my audio problem gets solved.
Dude! That was a very well done video! I actually just purchased the GoPro 8 and found this video extremely helpful due to your thorough explanation of the settings! Bravo :)
Just starting out and this appears to be excellent for understanding the most important and most common settings. Hoping he has done something similar for underwater video since I assume some of the settings should probably be different,.
I love your videos! Thank you for your eloquent way of speaking and getting right to the point. You have helped me achieve great results from my hero 5's right up to the new 8. Keep it coming!
This is the best video for new-bee's. Thank you! I'm going to try your settings the next time I go mountain biking......I'm looking for the best set it and forget it settings for the gopro8 black...
I'm gonna use mine to video film my son and outside activities, plus I'll always have them on the MicroSD card too, but going to get a higher write/read bitrate MicroSD card for best performance
Thanks for details. Just getting into my camera and love coming across your video. I shoot birds at feeders and bird baths. I love it.... Looking forward to changing some settings as you mention.
This is genuinely a very good tutorial or guidance. You talk gentle and calm, you are straight to the point and you don't just skip anything and take the time to explain each setting a bit, which gave me an overall better idea on how to setup my GoPro now. I just bought the GoPro Hero8 and I am a bloody beginner with everything. I will definitely check out your channel for editing tips, because there I am also a bloody beginner! You earned a new subscriber and I will definitely make sure that if I see someone struggling with his or her GoPro to share your channel, haha :D
Great video. Clear and precise. Thank you. I made the mistake of filming straightaway without looking at the settings which resulted in awful footage. Just wished I watched your video first.
I took your advice a few weeks back and I just reset my brightness back to 50%. Today it was overcast and I couldn't see my screen well enough to change some setting. :-/ I almost missed the firing of the Civil War Cannons at Fort Fisher, NC
I've been using the SanDisk 128GB Ultra Plus on both my Hero 4 & Hero 5 at 4.7K 60fps with no recording errors & write speed to my WD 1TB Internal drives at 19MB/s. Proxy Editing on Adobe Premier 2022 then Export at 4K .H264. It took me much trial & error to achieve these settings! On another note I find that the white balance setting in these cameras nowadays is so accurate that's the only automatic setting that I use everything else is manual limiting my ISO to 400 and setting the audio on stereo or Sometimes using an external wireless mic and the picture size at the narrow setting!
Very good and interesting video. On all my outdoor GoPro videos I leave the white balance at 5500K. Even at sunset I want the colour of the sky to come through naturally - I don’t want the camera to try and “white balance” the warm colour and neutralise it.

I've had my Hero 8 for a couple of months now. I've watched some 'how to' videos. This was the best I've seen. I subscribed.

Thanks for this. I did some shooting for the first time with this GoPro yesterday on very standard settings. Will try with your suggestions next time!

Simply brilliant! No "B.S.", just straight to the point. Thx!

Do you record your sons games using a tripod or freehand?
