    When I was looking for a lift I went all round my area (10 + shops) and surprisingly the owners were happy to talk about there lifts. Rotary was number 1, followed by forward. The shops that had a Bendpak lifts all told me to stay away from them.Customer service was bad. I ended up with a used Mowhawk in mint condition

    • @GearsAndGuns

      Yeah their customer service was bad for sure!! Its been working great so far tho, I can say that. Glad you got a good lift 👍 they are a must have for sure

      Yea, depending on when they bought their lifts, they could be made in USA, provided they were bought many years ago, if not, they are China, even Rotary, a good name, and was always made in USA, they say made in Indiana now, but when I questioned them on line and asked if they used any chinese parts, that's when they stopped replying to me, so take that with a grain of salt!
      I understand that Mohawk and Worth are the only ones left that are still made in USA with American made parts, I purchase a Worth lift recently and it was almost a $1000 less than the rotary lift with the same asymmetrical clear floor10K weight load; hope this helps,,,

      @@rickallen8158 very much so! Yeah honestly wish I would have gotten a cheaper one and used the extra money for something else. But it's been working great so far

    This video makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I just bought the xpr10as for the bargain price of $5300. Things are getting ridiculous. Hope it's at least a solid lift.

      @GearsAndGuns  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You'll love it!! I use mine ALL the time, wish I would have bought it years ago!! I had to wait about 2 months for mine to come in. But congratulations on your purchase!! If you have any questions when installing it let me know ( if your doing it yourself) i do recommend having someone do it. You pretty much want to install everything laying on the ground then find a way to hoist it up. I used a rope , a pulley and my truck to pick it up

    Those columns should have welded gusset plates in both axes to help stabilize them at the base. That's why the base plates were warped. No gussets for strength, and poor welding techique... I would rather pay more and get a safer lift. My truck is 8000 lbs.

    • @GearsAndGuns
      @GearsAndGuns  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah that's the thing these ones are more expensive but still made in china. That being said I use it all the time and its holding up great. I should do a newer video on it. Thanks for stopping by

      Thanks for the comment! I did this video some time ago. After a few year of having the lift, it still works flawlessly! It's worth it if you have the money to spare, but honestly I would have bought something cheaper and got a tire machine or something. It is a good lift tho, I use it almost every day

    You want so-called "soft steel" for such tasks as hard steel (brittle steel )is what shatters without warning, not so much soft steel. That's why airplane wings flex. You do not want super rigid materials for high dynamic strength applications. Secondly, you bought one of Benpaks entry level lifts. As always, we all get what we pay for. I appreciate your honesty about not having followed the red bouncing ball (directions) properly. That added to your ultimate feeling toward your lift. Yes, the pumps are all very similar because industry tends to copy what works best if patents allow. Bendpak is a leader in this area, an area where the fellows that use them have excellent judgement regarding all things mechanical and structural. If Bendpak was truly a bad choice, they would definitely not be such a popular lift manufacturer. Anyway, congrats on your new lift. Its a luxury many do not have (do to many factures other than money). Enjoy it. Be safe, especially around gasoline and gravity.

      Yup well said my friend because last month I had to pull the one cylinder out because the seal failed yup it only has one main seal. Guess the new ones have 2 but yes wish I would have bought a cheaper one and a tire machine

    How much does the truck weigh? I have the exact same lift but the asymmetrical version. I frequently lift my service vans with it that are probably right at 10k if not a few hundred pounds more

    • @GearsAndGuns
      @GearsAndGuns  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I lifted trucks that weigh at 9klbs with no problem! You should be good. I always keep an eye out and I have stands I put underneath to take alot of weight off

    • @joecorrie1
      @joecorrie1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Keep in mind that pick ups are heavy on the the front two lift arms so if you raise a 10k truck up on a 10k lift you would be over loading the front two lift arms? Most people don’t think of this, and some bend pak are made in China but they still have the best safety standards on there lifts, there lifts are tested at 1 1/2 the rated lift capacity

    How safe are these lifts? Any advice you can give me when I get one of these?

    • @GearsAndGuns
      @GearsAndGuns  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use it ALL the time and it works great!. For safety I put lift stands under the front and rear of the vehicle I'm working on ( you can buy them at harbor freight for like 80$) I had 10klbs vehicles on it and no problems. Your concrete must be strong tho. I have high psi reinforced concrete in my garage. You can give those guys a call they are based in Florida and are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. When it comes to assembling you gotta pretty much assemble on the ground then lift it up. It's not to bad if you have some help. If you need any pointers let me know, I'll help were I can 👍

      @@GearsAndGuns Thanks sir, I actually live in Mexico, and I'm owner of a Tire Shop. There's a bendpak distributor in my town, but to be honest I find a little hard to trust your life to one of this lifts, so that's why I'm doing a little research before buying one.

    • @GearsAndGuns
      @GearsAndGuns  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@fdkfskfkvmk441254741 I agree, I dont want to get crushed either 😬. You can get a four post lift but if you want to change tires you cant do that easy. I always take my time and make sure the vehicle is balanced properly before taking it all the way up and put stands under before I start working
