- This tutorial will show you how to slice in Inkscape. When we think of Slice we usually think of Cricut Design Space however you can do that same thing in Inkscape...actually you can do a lot more than just slice. By using Division, Exclusion and Difference you and Slice in Inkscape.

The best explanation for the concept of "slice" in Inkscape. I really like that you know Design Space and can relate "this" to "that". I have loads of technical experience and graphics software experience. Inkscape drives me batty! I'll be checking out your other videos and sharing links. Thanks for taking the time and being so organized! I also like that circle that floats over your mouse pointer. Makes it so much easier see where you are going.
Super helpful! Many thanks for sharing!
A lot of thanks for making and sharing your video!!
Thank you. That was really helpful. 🌸
So glad!
Your video helped so much. Thank you for sharing.
Glad it was helpful!
thank you :)
Thank you
Very well explained, Thank you
You are welcome!
Thanks
This is not working for me. I am trying to cut a tapered tumbler design can i only use inkscape shapes? I am so frustrated at this point.
I can't get text to work without ungrouping the letters first (8 mins in). Am I missing something or a setting?
Newbie here. Great explanation. Does Inkscape then allow for a save feature that creates the svg or png?
Yes! Inkscape will automatically save as SVG you can also "export as PNG" if you want. I believe I have a video on how to do that if you search my channel.
I had to use Exclusion to ‘die-cut’ the image
That's kool but for some reason I can't do the slicing it would work . Why
How do you get something like a hexagon to snap to perfect level when deploying? I know how to rotate, but if it starts crooked at 0 degree then I can't know if I am going to line up properly.
Make sure your "Snapping" is turned on and hold Ctrl while you're dragging out the shape.
@@CrystalsCrafties Thankyou.
wish I could figure out what I am doing wrong, I have a number 5 svg that I am trying to use to cut a gingham print one of, using an svg of a gingham print but nothing is happening
Did you ever figure this out? I have a tumbler design that i am trying to make tapered and it just will not work.
@@TLFHC I did but I can't remember how I did it, sory
Hi Crystal (Or anyone else who can help), I am using Inkscape 1.2.2 (732a01da63, 2022-12-09) Wondering what I am doing wrong? I have a rectangle that I want to cut out some ovals from each end. I have all of the objects in place but I can't get any of your methods to work. I have tried welding all of the ovals together to see if that was the problem; I have grouped and ungrouped; even tried to do one at a time. I just cant get this to work at all. PLEASE HELP ME!
Make sure that your shapes are converted to a path and it should work. If you still can't get it to work try selecting the objects while the nodes are showing (either select the object and then click the nodes tool or tripple click the object until the nodes show) and then slice them. Sometimes the slice works better if the nodes tool is used rather than just the selector tool.
Can I slice an imported image ?
If it's already a path (SVG format) you can. If not then you'd have to turn it into a path first.
This did not show the slice like in design space. I want to slice a design out of a coloured background to have the design the same as the coloured background. This does not do it as it cuts it out totally.
Doesn't work, Bezier does nothing.
I think whoever watches this, should at least know how to make a level star, every time. Hold Ctrl + Left Mouse, and pull straight up! 🫶
To have the horizontal shoulder level, on a 5 pt. star, the spoke ratio is 0.382!
