      If you wanna dive-into XS products, grab a bottle of their Dynamic Cut compound and Ice polish. You will laugh out loud at the results (because they’re that good). Their clay lube and Finale polish are staples in my arsenal. Just pay close attention to your pads and techniques, letting the products do more of the work.

    Great test and definitely made it easier to pull the trigger on some Xtreme Soluitions. Can't imagine anyone is waiting 9 or 10 washes between top-ups of a topper, so the fact that it lasted as long as it did is only a bonus. I'm sure most of us would use this at least every 3rd wash (and indeed maybe every wash as a drying aid) so used in conjunction with whatever sealant you have (polymer/ceramic/wax/whatever), I'd say it'd be a great long term solution. My plan is to use this as a topper on CQuartz SIC on one car I take care of, and likely also on top of Jescar Ultra Lock Plus on a 2nd vehicle. Very interested to see how they work with each one, as they are similar-ish but definitely not the same style of sealant.

      @@DmitrysGarage 2 months now since I used Topper on top of the CQuartz SiC and it definitely still looks and feels excellent. Putting it on top of Ultra Lock+ this week as planned, still in the middle of it (it's a truck so I'm doing it over a couple of days), so far so good and the slickness is through the roof.

    Watch @7:28 For everyone buying car care products this is what needs to be asked and addressed by manufacturers and or at least prove that they have UV protection, i mean as ive said before we can have all the beading, Sheathing and ultimate gloss but what good can it do if we dont have much UV blocking agent, if not no UV protection? their excuse will be our clear paint coat should be our protection but as everyone knows every time we do compound and polish our cars we take a little bit of that clear coat hence we rely on their products for protection right? but Dmitry's videos prove otherwise which is the only channel that does this type of debunking if i may say... All im saying to the manufacturer to please look into UV protection MORE than ever and to add it on your products that you produce. Lets like and share this channel coz its one of the few that make sense.

    • @DmitrysGarage
      @DmitrysGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think a lot of people use gloss and candy visual appearance interchangeably. A nice candy paint on a car will always look warm, deep and "glossy", but the most basic of mirrors which won't have those qualities will stomp any paint job on actual gloss as a measure of reflected light.

    When you apply a topper to a ceramic, doesn't it mask the qualities of the ceramic or does it "enhance" it? I'm just envisioning a layer on top of the ceramic so you are just simply encapsulating the ceramic with the topper. So what would the advantages be to installing a ceramic vile coating and then a topper.....? Just confused with topper concept. your help is appreciated.

    DG Thank you for your very informative and detailed videos! One suggestion, can you try to incorporate a water-spot resistance test? I've gone back to sealants and waxes, b/c I find they have better resistance to water spotting. (could be my own paranoia) especially the lower body panels which get hit with puddle splashes while driving, I park the car, go to work, come back 8-hrs later those water spots have been baked in.

    • @DmitrysGarage
      @DmitrysGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks Jorge, appreciate your kind comment! I have been working on a water spot resistance test, I'm just not sure how to quantify it well. Like I could give a sort of pass/fail result, but it would be great to have a way to measure it objectively. I have a few ideas though.

    • @snail415
      @snail415 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For test construction, I’d recommend using your local water report as your baseline, and maybe even do two tests with treated and untreated water. That way viewers (have to) understand why we have a certain water hardness. In the end of course, we can’t replicate things like the industrial fallout in rain, and that factor alone might make such an endeavor a moot one.
      I do think however that the ‘Scott HD’ approach of leaving a hood out in the elements (especially in your area) shows a lot of real-world product resistance to water spotting and etching.
      I feel for those struggling on the coatings-vs-sealants/wax dilemma; I’m one of them. For my own cars I’ve resorted to the latter, but if you’re a professional detailer there’s an incentive to go with the former. But you have to ask yourself how many clients you want calling you weeks later (complaining about water spots…or concerns with longevity). At some point, there’s a line we have to draw between the detailer’s eye and the eye of the average car owner. There’s a gulf of a difference in perception of cleanliness. These products really do require consultation and education for the unfamiliar customer…because nature always wins.

    Mr. Dmitry -
    I have a brand new Tacoma TRD Pro. It may need a light compound, but I’m mainly concerned about polishing the finish before applying a ceramic coating.
    I’ll do the following:
    wash / rinse / iron remove / wash / rinse / detail spray + clay bar / *maybe light compound if needed / finish polish / IPA wipe / ceramic coat.
    Sir, what: compound (light) would brand of compound would you recommend?
    What brand of finish polish would you recommend?
    What ceramic coating would you recommend?
    What “topper” would you recommend?
    Thank you in advance for the info, sir.

    • @DmitrysGarage
      @DmitrysGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Robert,
      Personally if the car has really clean paint already, being new, I would just hit it with Meguiar's 205 finishing polish. If you need a bit more cut you could use the Mirror Glaze Fine-Cut from Meguiars as well.
      For a ceramic coating, I really like the Adam's Graphene Spray Coating, but I'm also about to test their non-spray liquid version which they claim is even more durable.
      I usually don't use toppers personally unless I need to touch up a dead spot on a coating. I was pretty impressed with the Xtreme Solutions Topper recently, looked very good.

    • @DmitrysGarage

      Unfortunately I don't think anything will be able to help. PPF is usually a few mils thick which is 50-70+ microns. Waxes, sealants and coatings range from a few microns to fractions of a micron thick. None of them will prevent damage from rock chips or scratches, despite what marketing may indicate. The protection they provide is lubricity during washing, self cleaning and a sacrificial layer to help reduce swirls when washing, that's it. Thanks for watching!

    • @DmitrysGarage
      @DmitrysGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Chris, you can certainly use them every wash. However, I think it depends on your preference. I personally don't want to essentially wax every wash, I want the product to work for me over time, especially on a daily driver, so that I can have quick good looking washes between longer deep cleanings. So it just depends on what steps you prefer. I usually do touch up with a detailer in spots, but I don't spray down the whole car since I usually blow most the water off.

      Thanks John, appreciate you watching. I haven't tried Adam's Graphene Detail Spray yet, but it's possible they're similar. It's in my queue and we'll see how it stacks up! The Adam's Graphene Ceramic Spray Coating is awesome, I'm a big fan at the moment, using it on my daily driver. I'm not a massive fan of BeadMaker though.

      @@DmitrysGarage I just use Beadmaker as a topper after each wash, as it adds an extra pop on the paint.

    You can see EST enhancement through the camera! Almost wax like.

      Appreciate you watching Claude! Wish TH-cam had 10-bit or 12-bit color, would look a lot clearer, like it does during editing. You get to see a lot more shades in the paint gradients where you get banding at 8-bit and it makes it harder to see the impact of the products.

    I’ll stick with Adam’s Graphene Ceramic Spray Coating. Much more durable protection than either of these products. It’s lasted all the way through a cold winter on my daily driver and after a wash it looks awesome on the Lexus metallic paint.
