When you discuss the anti-series connection, shouldn't the diode be connected the other way? I thought the cathode was the negative side and if so, you can only block current with the positive anode side.
I am thinking in terms of the current flow model. If the source of electrons is ground then the cathode side will only allow those electrons to flow through the diode. ( |>|

    Hello,
I do the boost converter circuit but I cannot able to convert 5 volt to 19volt please suggest me the inductor value and resistance value of the inductor. If possible please suggest me the part number for the inductor.

In buck converter, When switch is opened, inductor will change its polarity so that diode will be short circuited. In this case if we apply KVL, then Voltage across the inductor is getting +Vo know. Please clarify this sir.

honestly it was 9months ago i needed it for the final work and i can't really remember what i did i just know that i messed with it alot without actually knowing how it works but i worked, i'm not the right person to ask, i was lazy in shcool and didn't know crap, sorry

Hi. You mentioned in the lecture that inductor in this circuit is used for filtering purpose. This is not true. The biggest purpose of having an inductor in this circuit is for charging and discharging. In other words, it will charge when transistor is ON and discharge when it is OFF. Hence it will provide a current both the time ON and OFF of the switch operation. Effect of this will make a dc look like waveform on current and hence the dc supply. The second characteristic of the inductor is filtering, which is taking a secondary part in this example. But primary purpose is to provide a constant current (dc) by the phenomena of the taking an average of the voltage(ON/OFF), and its effect on current by charge/discharge characteristic of the inductor. And hence the inductor is used to create a buck/boost converter.

I'm sure he was supposed to say capacitor. rant over...

But what you said and sir mentioned are two sides of the same coin. You are analysing the circuit in time domain, he is analysing it in the frequency domain. The dc-dc converter without inductor-capacitor filter wouldn't filter the harmonics and would provide you distorted dc. Think in terms of frequency domain, you will understand.
