3 Quick Attach Bucket Styles For Tractors: How To Connect & Disconnect? SSQA/JDQA/Global Style

  • There's a lot of quick attach systems for tractors including the JDQA SSQA, and Global styles. I happened to have three different styles of quick attach buckets in stock at the same time plus a fourth pinned on style bucket. So, I took a few minutes to compare these styles of loader quick attach buckets. This isn't something that is cheap or easy to change once you have your tractor and loader, so educate yourself ahead of time and potentially save yourself a headache in the long run.
    In this video, you'll see how to hook up to a quick attach bucket, how to unhook from a quick attach bucket, take a closer look at the quick attach bucket systems, and compare that against a pinned on bucket. Each style has advantages and disadvantages, sometimes you have multiple options, and sometimes you don't. I create these videos to try and help answer questions I've had from my customers. Many of them are searching for their first tractor or first tractor in a long time. I'm a visual learner and so that's how I try to help others. Thanks for watching!

    On the Global lever, you only have pull it out to unlock. It will lock itself back upon re-attachment when attachment is lifted and curled. Just one thing to do for both un-hooking and re-hooking. Done from one side, no need to walk around to each side. It’s a beautiful thing.

    Originally on my tractor, I had just a pin-on bucket but upgraded to the SSQA and I’ve been very happy for going back and forth between my bucket and forks. In doing so however, I lost some lift and breakout force due to pushing the load further away from the pivot point. I can see that one thing the JDQA system has going for it is that it keeps the load closer to the pivot point than most other QA systems, which I’d assume would result in less loss in lift and breakout capacity. I’m not a fan of propriety systems but I can see that JD engineered this well. Nice comparison. 👍

    Great video! I bought my BX2660 used last year knowing nothing about tractors. A couple weeks ago I converted from pin on to SSQA! Cost around $600, but well worth it! I love being able to switch from bucket to forks in minutes!

    Thanks for the video! Good comparison for folks to see the different types of styles. I have only one tractor so don't have experience using other methods but I think they all have positive attributes and each have an area or two that could use improvement for sure, which I imagine will come over time. Thanks again - Enjoyed it. Cheers!

    When I got my present company I happened to get two different tractors including a compact JD 4210 with a JDQA loader. Because my tractors are so dramatically different in hp and usage, I can't and wouldn't use the same buckets, pallet forks, grapples, etc. with the two tractors. I find both quick and efficient.
    You need to grease the lever mechanism on that SSQA though... it was hanging even before you connected the bucket. You're causing yourself excess work. Time for a little WD-40 gel Spray & Stay!
    My biggest challenge is that newer employees tend to be more intimidated by the larger tractor and gravitate toward the JD 4210 even when it is NOT the better tool for the specific job. It is just more FUN... and gives one the illusion of being safer. The exception is when using a grapple for big jobs and then the Titan 72" Extreme Root Grapple Rake is the one they go to... there's something amazing about picking up 4-6 trees at a time or a pile of brush as big as the tractor!
    As always great videos! It was watching your videos that I chose the grapple for my JD 4210 (brush crusher).

    Very educational video! Had never heard of the global system, looks like it is a bit quicker working both attachment points from 1 side. Visibility is a real issue for me, seems like the closer I get to lining up everything, there's 2 or 3 cross braces or part of the grill guard just waiting to block my view.

    I don’t like how the jdqa has the little pins that take all the pressure when dumping. The other two are designed with big pins. That being said the jdqa has the tighter fit which means less wear over time. I still wouldn’t hesitate to buy a tractor with either one of these, the small pin version is not weak by any means. Just remember it is a commitment because you need your implements to match with your tractor. The skid steer and jdqa being the most common.

    i have a Kubota quick attach for my bx2670 its a mix of standard pin on and a hook on style you leave the pins in the bucket top pin hooks onto the quick attach and bottoms have pins.the reason for going this route is I bought the tractor used with a pin on style and wanted the availability to have pallet forks with out completely un pinning every time. there is a company Ai2 that builds a similar quick attach product. I chose this option because I didn't want to have to purchase a SSQA for the tractor as well as a bucket and forks just the QA and forks

  • @pyroman6000
    @pyroman6000 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Totally besides the point, but what tractor do/did you have on that Global carrier? I was struck by the massive difference in bucket and loader sizes between that and the 4R with the JDQA. Kinda puts things in perspective when you see them side by side like that!

    • @GoodWorksTractors

      It was on my 4066r. That bucket was a John Deere construction bucket, not the stock bucket that comes on that series.

    Great video. I have a question. I see that on 2 of the 3 systems, the JDQA & the SQA, both of the tilt mounts don't seem to be synchronized with the attachment disconnected. Is this normal, or is there excessive wear in the timing rods of both of these tractors? I thought my timing rod was bad with elongated holes on my 4052R, and was about to replace it until I saw this video. I'm starting think this is a completely normal condition. Is it?

    • @ericpaul4575
      @ericpaul4575 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No two cylinders are going to respond the same. The nice thing about the global attach that you noticed is the two sides were still connected together without the implement attached. No way for them to get out of sync. The JDQA seems better in that it looks like it will self align better than the SSQA as shone in this video. I am not sure if skid steers have the arms attached to avoid this situation as well.

  • @neilmack8140

    Hi Tim, on the demonstration of the quick connect (8:40) I noticed that the pick up forks or brackets that grab the equipment and lock in place, are not aligned when they are moving forward or backward. I have this same problem on my tractor but it’s a little more exaggerated than in your video. Is this a normal thing or is this something that I should be concerned about? * I have the 3032R with cab*

    Here in europe we call it euro-style. Basically the only system we use here. We do tend to use bigger tractors though. 1,2,3,4 and even 5 series are rare. Usually the older stuff is around the 4-5 series size and newer stuff is around the 5r-6r size

      @@GoodWorksTractors I've seen on their website where JD offers that option on some loaders. Can't remember which, but they were full size utilities. Makes a ton of sense, for a daily driver chore tractor, where you're switching between a bucket. bale spear, manure or feed push, etc several times a day. That's a ton of climbing on and off! Remote latching, I think is what they call it.

    • @AdamSkobel
      @AdamSkobel 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@pyroman6000 Yes. JDQA is simply outdated. Many of the SSQA offer hydraulic locking and more attachments. The Global connect is to replace JDQA. Its designed so you can cut your climbing on and off in half! Your supposed to get off once, pull the lever located on the drivers side, drop the attachment, pick your new attachment, and tilt all the way back without getting off and it will lock onto the machine automatically, its spring loaded.
      With all the quick attachment systems, they work a lot better if you tilt all the way back. SSQA self aligns better if you do that as well. Literally the only reason to get JDQA is if you already have attachments using the legacy system you don't want to replace (or put adapters on).

    JDQA works great until the two brackets don’t curl/dump at the same rate when you’re trying to attach your implement. And let me tell you, it’s the most frustrating thing. They should be joined at the top so the cylinder with the least resistance doesn’t start moving first and you end up with one side pointed all the way down while the other side is still vertical.
