I have seen countless live Steeleye Span videos over the years. I have yet to see even one where Maddy Prior didn't look like she was having the time of her life up on the stage singing. That's as it should be. Today's "performers" (not "musicians" for the most part) take themselves way too seriously.
What a fantastic folk rock band, each & every one of them so talented .I didn't get into this kind of music till I was in my 50s, and I'm so glad as its still pretty new to me. But what have I been missing ?
Man... I was born in this year, and I always told people I was born when Alice Cooper released Welcome to my Nightmare, because it sounds so much cooler than 1975... but now I think I'm changing to "I was born when Steeleye Span was at their peak"
'Little Maddy' the power in the middle. They were just brilliant in this form.
I always loved the drummer. He looked like he was having a blast!😊

What a great band. I met them in 1976 had a drink or two with them, really good folks !
RIP Bob Johnson.
Fabulous performance!
Vastly underrated guitarist, superb player.
Maddy is the queen of Elfland!
Thank you for these! The world needs more Steeleye Span!!!

Had a couple of their albums way back then but never saw the videos of them. Such a sweet band.
Thanks for sharing this - my favourite Steeleye track 👍
Superb. Thanks for posting
My god, they were so young once. Achtually some of them have gone, but at least Maddy and the drummer still rock. I love this band, still...
Fantastic!

They opened for Jethro Tull on the Passion Play tour. Love Steeleye
God we were poor in those days. I'd like to say we were rich in song, but it wouldn't be quite true would it. Compared to now. I'm a big Span Fan btw.
Superb xx
Who's singing the high harmony? Whoa
This was the edition of Steeleye that I did not like.
