    I wish more TH-camrs would react to Pink Floyd's early material, like this. When they keep to just the radio hits, they're really missing out on the true Pink Floyd experience.
    The band was really experimental in those days.

      @@KristinKali If you haven't listened to much of Pink Floyd's music, it can be a little overwhelming at first. They create such a deep soundscape filled with emotion and innovation.
      At one point in their early career they decided to create an album without using any instruments. Their hope was to use "Household Objects" to mimic the sound of instruments.
      They ultimately abandoned the idea, but their experimentation led to the creation of their album "Ummagumma", if memory serves me correctly.
      I enjoyed your reaction to "A Saucerfull of Secrets" and look forward to more Pink Floyd reactions in the future.

    I heard Pink Floyd many times, but this song, made me discover Pink Floyd. Some people only understand this song as just noise, but to me it's more than just noise. This is chaos and a cry with a call, not just a random noise. This was prepared to have a meaning that I can't still be able to define!

    • @KristinKali
      @KristinKali  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      WELL SAID!!..... The randomness of the music... is chaotic but its the "way" that the music is used that makes is BRILLIANT! i could not say it better than the way you did!! How the music alone "describes CHAOS" IS GENIUS!!

      @@KristinKali I grew up with music. I had all kinds of influences of it, from my parents to my older brothers. We were(still are) a big family and my older brother is ten years older than me. I was 5 or 6 in 1976 when my brother was already 15 or 16, so he had all this music background and I had this knowledge of music at this age. Listen to the album Trilogy by Emerson Lake and Palmer and they had some music similar to this. There was a lot of experimental music in the mid of late 60's extended to the early seventies. The Gates of Delirium by Yes and I'm sure there is a lot more music that probably haven't heard yet. This Pink Floyd song it's just amazing!!!

    the studio version has a choir doing the vocal part at the end,but i much prefer gilmour's single voice crying out. rick wright's beautiful keyboard playing also brings me to tears. i love the shot of the four of them playing. long before the infighting and strife that would eventually lead to waters' departure. the pompeii sessions were pink floyd at their best as a single unit.

    It’s war/rioting/mayhem (or, as the band itself would have it, ‘Syncopated Pandemonium’), followed by a solemn, yet transcendent requiem. In my opinion, this is the ultimate psychedelic rock track. I cannot tell you what it was like listening to this on several hits of good windowpane acid when my girlfriend first purchased it for me back in 1998. This did exactly what psychedelic rock should do: blow your mind wide open, then crawl in and invite your soul out to go flying for a little while.

Search for Ummagumma "a saucerful of secrets", "careful with that axe Eugene", "set the controls" and "Astronomy Domine". Ummagumma is a double album. The first part is just those 4 pieces live and the second part is a studio album (only "the narrow way 1-3" is worth it).
      Ummagumma was the first time I heard PF and to me is still one of their more adventurous albums alongside "Atom Heart Mother" that came out the year after (1970).
