  • The 2023 McLaren Artura has had some considerable growing pains breaking into the market. Old deliveries have been scrapped and brand new vehicles have been sent to eagerly awaiting customers. And when you have a fully functional McLaren Artura with all of the kinks worked out, it is an absolutely incredible exotic supercar! Epic chassis, fantastic comfort, shockingly large frunk capable of large grocery runs, and performance that does NOT quit.
    2024 McLaren Arturas are in production now with a lot of the issues worked out. Compared to the alternatives out there, the Artura is one of the best driving cars in its class. Why buy an entry level prancing horse GT car, when you can have the Artura?
    About the grading system:
    All grades are relative to a car's respective category. For example: a family-car cannot be compared to a sportscar. Different segments are graded differently.
    I lean toward and prioritize performance on my scale. Suspension reflects the balance between handling and firmness of the ride, but also varies based on class of car (i.e. a luxury vehicle is all about comfort, therefore suspension score is graded based on luxury and not handling). Power is about straight-line speed, which is affected by power-to-weight. Interior takes into account aesthetics, ergonomics, material and build quality. Design is highly subjective and nothing but personal preference. Likewise, so is sound.

    Just curious if you don’t mind - how come you chose the name “Locking Diff” for your channel?

    • @lockingdiff
      @lockingdiff  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's my IG handle, and it's car related, so I carried it over to the TH-cam channel. :) When I think of a locking differential, I also think of a car ready to drift.

      Thanks for the reply, makes sense. I know it’s car related, I was just wondering if you perhaps were into off roading and just ended up pivoting to supercar reviews. Especially with the McLaren, who notoriously uses open diffs. I didn’t even consider the relation to drifting, I’ve never done it. Since I’ve only watched it I typically think of smoke first and foremost when it comes to drifting 🤣🤣. I have a feeling tire manufacturers LOVE drifting!

      @@CraigK5thGen Hah yeah. Open diff on the Mac, but electronically controlled, it's exceptionally clever. But no, not into offroading, though I have locked a diff or two in pick-ups and older G-wagons 🤣

      @@shahin5025 Yeah....no. Manufacturer's estimate their data (ask me how I know). And they also underestimate their data on purpose. And when they don't, they use a different format for measuring acceleration, or they're on unprepped/very prepped surfaces, roll-outs, etc. Also, you showed 0-62MPH, and not 0-60. Manufacturer's keep their numbers conservative and leave it up to independent testing to verify full potential. So far that full potential is 2.4 and 140MPH in the 1/4 using all sorts of expensive, accurate, and proven hardware. Thanks for watching and thanks for commenting, it helps the algorithm. :)

      Sounds like you were shifting at 4k rpm when there’s 8500. Hopefully you’ve felt it in your 570. This car is another world over 5k rpm
