Hi I did the exact same thing as for the first couple stitches of the hat but mine compared to yours mine is like so much bigger. I used the same hook size as you but still. My first thought was that my yarn is a bit thicker than you but it’s not much of a difference.

R8 : (dec, 4 sc) twice. R9: dec, 8 sc. R10: 9 sc. That's it!

I think it's sportsyarn or wrosted weight. But still you can use any kinds of yarn with its appropriate hook ♡
