These are called Folding Photo Cards. For quite a few years Brownie and Girl Guide groups here in Nova Scotia, Canada would make for a Mother's Day gift. The measurements would be three pieces of 8 1/2 " by 8 1/2 " cardstock glued together. Pictures and journaling would then be added with sturdy covers and ribbon. Thanks for reminding me of this, aka Arlene
Yes, and the 3 pieces are folded in the "squash fold", and glued together. You don't have to stop with 3! I did a really long one to showcase a community project on the bulletin board once. So cool!
Or a Foldable Squash Card. And then you glue three of them together 🤣. Made them in Elementary school. Forgot about them, until Pam said they were three squares glued together.
Thanks Pam for showing us that everyone, even though you do this all the time, will get things right the first or tenth time! Sometimes we watch videos that have been edited & us novices get frustrated because we can't do it right the first time! Crafting is a challenge & you show us & tell us this along the way. Thanks 🥰
I always plan to watch the video straight through. It never happens. I always end up pausing it so I can gather supplies to the make the project with her. Pam has such a wonderful eye. Things I would never think of. Amazing.
Thank u pam i have discovered my new craft ing mediun . i have always loved shuffling paper.i love the sound of paper being handled never did i think about junk journaling .u have inspired me
This is awesome. I have seen things like this from crafters who made scrapbooks. But, this is really cool that you found it at a thrift store and broke it down and made your own so you could share it with us. I appreciate you. Thank you, Pam... You know... You might be able to find a remedy for that 'crafter's hairball'... LOL OMG you make me laugh!! Thanks for that, too!
Oh I love this thank you Pam...now I have a way to use up the scraps from the dresses my mom sewed for us girls when we were small. I will put these little booklets in my scrapbook with a photo of the dress and what I remember about each one she sewed! I am so enjoying your videos and trying some of your ideas!
What a joy to come home to after a rough day at work. Pam you are wonderful,I love your videos, ideas, hints tricks and Holly, don't ever stop. This is my project for tonight xxx
I can tell by my comment that I watched this vid when it first came out. I was flipping through my saved files today looking for stuff to make for the church craft fair and found these again and I LOVE THEM!! Once you get it you totally get it. I've made five so far and am gonna go search for more 12 x 12s now. Thanks girlfriend! Hugs, MK 🤗♥️🌵♥️🤗
Oh dear Pam. Good morning. Oh my goodness!!! What a great idea. I gasped when you opened it, for real!!! Someone is spring cleaning and organizing. She is still searching for it😢 genius for figuring out how it opens and folds. Great find. Thank you for sharing it. 💙 It.
I use to make these in my cardmaking days and we would put photos in them. or stickers and words. Like others we would have to use 3 papers and stick them altogether we called them squash books back then. Its lovely to see them again. You did a great job Pam xxxxxx
Good morning.....have made these using 3 pieces of paper for several years. I make them as photo holders and people place pictures on all of the flat spaces, front and back, and then writing, quotes, get on places where there are folds.....ends up being small enough to carry several photos of special events in a conveniently folded packet. Enjoy your videos.
I made one of these for a friend. I did the 3 squares of paper method. I stamped the inside and it did have a cover with ribbon. That was around 12-15 years ago. A blast from the past.
1. That looks similar to a Turkish map fold. 2.. Check out meander books (aka ram's horn or pants books). There are a lot of cool folded one-sheet versions. You can add hard covers to those too.
Kudos to you for figuring this out. This really cute! the fact that they used 3 pages and you still figured it out with a 12x12 just amazes me. My little simple mind would never have figured it out.
So cool to make it out of one sheet of paper! Thank you for remembering this. We used to make 1/3 th of it with the school kids in our class they are 5/6 old and they adored it . Greetings Maia
I live your enthusiasm! I use to make these for my daughters. I made the large ones with 12x12 and I added words and photos. We would also do them after a weekend away
“Crafter Hairball”... BAHAHAHAHAHAHA 😹 oh my gosh I laughed so hard Pam! Besides being a great crafter you are hilarious!! Now that I’ve stopped laughing...this is an awesome project. I have never seen it either. Thanks for this little jewel. 🥰❤️
Yes! I am so happy you found it! I got it, best to use a 12 X 12 fold in 1/2 then in half again to make 1/4 parts even and use 3 of the 1/4 parts and glue together! yes! it is done great ! Thank you so much!
Wow Pam, you reinvented the wheel. I've made "squash books" years ago but never out of one 12x12 piece paper. Had to do the 3 squares. You're brillant!
I would like to make this as a card to send someone for maybe a birthday or anniversary with pictures and little words about the receiver of the card making it a fun thing to open. Adding different flat embellishments
Yes , I love it!!! I made one many many years ago but had completely forgotten about it so thank you so much for the great reminder. Mine was made with 3 squares but I have sooo many 12x12 papers. This will probably be my today project!!!!
Hi Pam ! I'm getting really really good at throwing things in garbage, I'm better at getting it out! Love ur crafts love ur quirkiness. Thank you for sharing it and encouraging us to steal ur fabulous ideas.
Searching TH-cam recently, I was looking for Blizzard Book tutorials. This type of book came up in the search results. So I JUST learned how to make this book. I used three squares of paper as everyone suggested and messed up so many times. So much wasted paper 😕. All this rambling to say THANK YOU for YOUR terrific take on this cute project!!
You can also make tiny ones with your cut off squares. If you look at scrapbooking ideas you'll find loads of different ways to fold paper for surprises. Hugs Joy, Spain
Good Monday Morning Everyone! :) So Thankful that you Rescued this little paper fold out gizmo from goodwill! and Viola~Pam, the Paper Engineer figures out How its made and shows us! Thank you Pam! I remember seeing these many, many, years ago, I haven't seen one since! I believe the creators used 6x6 and glued them, you figured out with 12x12! What a Great Teacher you are Pam! You're Always bringing us New, Inventive and Creative ways to make our paper, fabric & scraps come to life! We Appreciate You! You keep reinventing the wheel~Roll On Dear Friend! 😄
November 2021- Ha, ha, ha! I’m so glad you stumbled around this folding. It makes me feel great to know I’m not the only one who had difficulty. I made one, I’ll try to finish it and share.
Hey Pam! These are great! I made my first one a few years ago when I put my first journal together for my daughters 21st Birthday so that her guests could sign it! Better than the old dreary key. She loved it!, all in her favourite colours of purple. But thanks for reminding me! Oh & Hello Holly tweet tweet. 😁💜
Just so you know, it works great with an 8 by 8 piece of paper. I don't have much of the 12 by 12, so I tried it with an 8 by 8 and it is so cute. Thanks a bunch. You are great!
Crafter's Hairball? 😂😂, Pam.... These are so awesome and I've never seen them! Goes to show you can find anything, anywhere to craft from. Thank you! ❤️🙏🏽🤗
I had to tell you!! During the folding process I couldn't keep up so I slowed you down to .5 OMG!! You have got to listen to this! I finally got it though LOL Thanks so much!!
Scrappers (scrapbookers) have used this a lot. I have amazing templates from the early 2000’s when scrapbooking was hot and heavy. They have lots of accordions, pop outs, waterfalls, pull and flips, envelopes....you name it. They have created tons of folding projects for their 12x12 papers. Their creations integrate wonderfully into junk journals. You can find awesome old you tube videos for these projects if you look into the scrapbooking genre 😁
Well this was a fun project, I had to start and stop a zillion times but got one made! Thank you for the tutorials, you always inspire me to "give it a try". Cheers to you!
yes Pam I have made them before. However never as much fun as doing it with you lady! I am sure we will be using this in your FB Group. Have a fab week everyone...you too Holly Bird!🐦 🙏✌💛
This is so perfect for the journal I'm putting together of pictures of my parents. I think I'll do one for each and then maybe one with the two of them cuddling (lots of those pictures!). Thanks Pam, you have given me several ideas to use in this special journal and I'm Soo grateful! Love ya!!!!😘
Loved making this made the first one out of 12x12 paper I had to stop and start you haha then when you discovered how they had made it so much easier Thank-you so much all the way from Australia
I made something similar to this years ago but it was about a 4x6 size all folded up. I'll have to dig around for it and see if I still have it! These are perfect for journals! Thanks for the video!
Ooooh, I loved that "crafters hairball coming up" , that made me laugh, boy when I needed it. Thanks alot, I want to remember that. I've had many cats over 30 yrs and " crafters hairballs coming up is the best. I love cats. Your sense of humor is super!!!!!!❤🐱😹🙀🐱😹🙀. Thank you.
What an amazing find! So cute, I had to grab a sheet of paper and play along. Thanks for sharing; this will be a great excuse to use some of my fabric scraps. Take care!
That was soooooo much fun Pam. Thank you for that. Spent the afternoon in my cabin in the Canadian bush crafting with you. I did this awesome project AND I did 6 fancy paperclips "with wreckless abandon" for my 5 sisters and me!!! Thank you for being out there. 💜🙏

You are so cute! Crafters hairball! Lol! Maybe it was a feather!🕊😄💕

We never did that craft in Brownies in Alberta, great idea!
Or a Foldable Squash Card. And then you glue three of them together 🤣. Made them in Elementary school. Forgot about them, until Pam said they were three squares glued together.

Thank you for deconstructing and translating a wonderful little foldable.🍓❤️
These are cool and yes I made my first one about 11 years ago with the 3 pieces of paper. But it's cool you used one 12x12

It only took 2 hours to make it fold. Conquered it! Now easy as pie! Thanks Pam.

I made this 3-4 years ago as a card, but it was larger. And lots of fun! I like this smaller size. Thanks for sharing. Hugs from Ireland.
I made one of these for a friend. I did the 3 squares of paper method. I stamped the inside and it did have a cover with ribbon. That was around 12-15 years ago. A blast from the past.
