  • I got some incredible RARE pink colored cryptocoryne for my aquarium! Now we've got a new addition for crypt garden :) I must say a huge thank you to Mr. Maeda san who works at Aqua Field Asakusa for gifting me this amazing plant. I have never seen a cryptocoryne pink flamingo in real life before so I am really grateful for this gift.

    SO AWESOME! I hope your crypt. flamingo takes off and thrives. Then you can have a lot of it. Who knows, if you have so much of it in the future you can share it with other aquascapers that may want it and can’t get it.

    • @RyoWatanabee
      @RyoWatanabee  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I hope so!! Really hope I can grow this plant under my current conditions. I know they prefer higher light and co2 though

    • @joshhibbs_nola
      @joshhibbs_nola 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ryo Watanabe I think they will do good. You can get more light by either putting a light on them or letting them get more sunlight some kind of way. Have you ever watched Joey The King is DIY Fishkeeping’s videos. He tells you how to make a CO2 setup from things around the house. Just go on his TH-cam and look through the videos until you find it and then you can make your own CO2 setup. If you do make your own CO2 setup I would separate only one out of the three and test on that one. That way if it does not work out and it dies you only killed one of your plants and not all three of them. 👍🏼

    I've heard about it about a year or two ago and thought it would be nice to add to my tank since crypts are easy plants and this one is pink. About two weeks ago my local petstore posted they had them on their website, I went there about three days later and was surprised they had three plants left and they were only about five dollars per plant. They were grown emersed, the outer leaves have very long stems and oval shaped leaves. In about two weeks they have converted and are growing short stems and long spade shaped leaves and they're super deep hot pink. I hope they continue to flourish and eventually propagate. This is the easiest "red" plant EVER.

    Your cryptocoryne farming videos are very enjoyable and inspiring for me. Have always found your videos very genuine and nurturing to beginner aquarium hobbyists. It is not just about setting up an aquarium and then time lapsing to a gorgeous state a few months later (those videos are visually inspiring but lacking in educational and informational purposes sometimes) When you share the issues you face, it is not just about problem solving but also very much about the patience required to achieve the results one anticipates. Thank you so much for staying real and humble! Hope you, all your aquariums, and your channel continue to grow healthily!

      @@RyoWatanabee Hey Ryo, quick question, since I don't recall you mention it on any video I have seen of you so far, what KH do you have on most of the planted aquariums that you set up for the shops and yourself?
      I would like to know since I saw in a video, it was mention to keep KH low(like 1-2 dKH wich would be arund 20-40ppm) and I was like WHAT! for me at least is the first ever that I heard someone say so. what are your thoughts? what's best for planted aquariums in your experience?
      cheers !!

    • @RyoWatanabee
      @RyoWatanabee  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve never checked kh before and don’t intend to do so unless I plan to keep some rarer and more delicate plants such as eriocaulons or Trithuria lanterna which I don’t intend to do anytime soon. I’ve been reading and studying a lot from the 2hr aquarists website and he talks a little bit about kh. Maybe you can go check that out :)

    • @whyluigi
      @whyluigi 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RyoWatanabee Thanks for the reply, I do know what KH is good for and why is important. it just had me question for a moment from what I saw, but maybe the dude was just crazy talking which makes me think since he has some neat thanks and he shows good knowledge(he is like a water engineer or something so he knows quite some stuff), I asked on the video but he hasn't replied on my question so..
      I'll stick to what I know and works for me XD
      just to share
      KH goes along Alkalinity of the water or buffers to help stabilize PH, and plants use it so over time it's normal to be lower, plus if used aqua soils that lowers the KW that is why those products they HIGHLY recommend often water changes at the beginning then it fades away over time and with water changes either RO/DI or tap both will have KH since you need to re-mineralize, but still is something to keep in mind especially in a planted aquarium, some plants will suffer greatly if it's too low so you may consider your melting may not just be temperature issue, :D
      Cheers to you keep it up, keep learning :D

    Does anyone know if there are FRUITING Aquatic Plants? Tiny Berries or nectar chambers? It would make for some awesome fish food.
    I could do the research but I like to hear first hand stories occasionally.
