    The plan was for Poland to hold Germany for two weeks; France would invade Germany from the west, followed by Britain. France and Britain wussed out. Poland held for FOUR weeks even after the Soviets invaded on Sept. 17th. That is kind of the story why they stayed there. Those three days were to allow France to attack Germany unopposed in the west. They didn't.

    If you are interested in history, listen to the song INMATE 4859. A song about one of the greatest heroes not only of Poland but of the entire Second World War. Captain Witold Pilecki. Participant of the Polish-Bolshevik war. Participant of the Polish-German war of 1939. Participant of the Polish independence underground. A volunteer to Auschwitz. Participant of the Warsaw Uprising. A shot to the back of the head murdered by the communist regime. His body has not yet been found.

    The drummer at the Woodstock Festival is Robert Bäck who played with the band as a temporary member. Snowy Shaw played with the band 2012-2013 before Hannes became a full time member in 2013. Thobbe Englund left the band in 2016 to prioritize his young son, and was replaced with Tommy Johansson that year.

    Bands often tell stuff like this song is only for you to every crowed on a tour.
    But here Sabaton actually ment it. They only played Winged hussars in the two concerts in Poland.
    Notice also how there is no pyro. If this song was planned the technicians wouldve programmed pyro for Winged Hussars.
    Just a cool touch I think

    • @kheidal
      @kheidal 3 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Sabaton is one of the few bands who actually play certain songs only in certain places, which is really cool. Like Winged Hussars in Poland, En Livstid i Krig in Sweden (don't think they have played that anywhere else? Only exception I know of is their gig at Tons of Rock here in Norway, where they played the full Carolus Rex set, at Fredriksten Fortress in 2017.. the same fortress where the unknown soldier shot King Carl the 12th one December day in 1718)
      And they always play Sabotours when in Norway, (and Carolus Rex in Swedish), which I don't think they've played much in other countries. Again, I could be wrong of course ^^

    16 days after the Nazi invasion, the Soviet Union invaded Poland from the east (17th September 1939) and made the odds against the Poles more like 50:1 !!!..... In early 1941, taking all of the Soviet Air Force into account and ignoring the still-neutral USAAF, the Luftwaffe were outnumbered by the allied air-forces 80:1 (or 800:1 if you include the obsolete aircraft!)...... 16th & 18th Century Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Many of the early Polish Winged Hussars were exiled mercenaries. They were modelled on the Hungarian Hussars and re-equipped under King Bathory (against the Swedes!). They were one of the reasons that the Russians did not like Poland and the Baltic States...... American - Vietnam song= "Into The Fire".

    As someone else said, Inmate 4859 has to be the next Polish song. It is a crime that it is not a movie. Regarding your dad, Into the Fire. Camouflage is a cover, but 100 times better than the original. It's about a dead marine who comes back as a ghost to save a young marine in the jungle, so not really historical. I would strongly recommend Purple Heart. Not Vietnam specific, but can make grown men cry.

    • @jeffreygegler6266
      @jeffreygegler6266 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would also say, To Hell and Back. Again, not Vietnam, but is about Audie Murphy and those living with PTSD. It even has some lines from Audie's poetry in the lyrics.

  • @LianteakaLia

    Some people have already mentioned songs that celebrate american regiments and heroes in the comments. There is another song that I would recommend in regards to both an american hero and WWII. It could be something to watch with your dad, but I have to put a warning label on it as the song deals with the topic of PTSD. It's about Audie Murphy, the most decorated American soldier in WWII. He faced both the absolute horror of WWII as well as the equally devestating effects of PTSD after the war, in a time where PTSD wasn't a serious ailment or treated properly and still managed to overcome it.
    The song is "To hell and back" and it's an incredibly touching and heroic tale of a man who acts above and beyond his sworn duty. But the official video is very emotional and heavy to watch as it depicts his struggle with PTSD coming back from the war. So if your dad struggles with PTSD from his own time in war it might be triggering. If not, or if you decide to watch it on your own, it's an incredibly well written song and emotionally touching video, well worth watching.

The castle still stands today castle Itter. The only casualty of the battle from the defenders is a German Army Major who died getting the former French Prime minister down as he was exposing himself firing an MP-40 wildly at the SS. I love how my people are unapologetic about their patriotism. I think a lot of western nations could learn from that

      Amen!! It's odd how the powers that be determine who is allowed to be patriotic and who is not.

      @@captainbigos9267 here's the unfortunate truth. The most powerful countries of the past and present have all committed some degree of atrocities. But there is always a relative degree of great and amazing things they also contributed to the world. You cannot throw out the good with the bad

      @@HistoryBuff Truth! Sadly, a lot of western people seem to forget this nowadays. Or are brainwashed by the media to hate their heritage. I'm Polish. I love my nation, I admire our history. Doesn't mean I hate anyone else. And unfortunately a lot of western/European nations have been convinced that loving your own is equal to hating everyone else, which is a lie and it's sad to see my Euro cousins to fall for it.

    They are singing about defenders. Not sure why they would cheer invasion of vietnam...

      First of all, I'm not asking if it's on this album. Second, you can bag on the Vietnam War all you want, but just like the poor victims who were forced to fight in "a lifetime of war," there is no reason you can't honor those (like my father) who were over there.

      Same goes with russians today. Fallen soilders are heroes for them. Do you not see a difference betwean attacker and defender, unprovoked invasion?

    Nope, nothing about Vietnam you americans can feel proud of. Why should you? But "Devil dogs" and "82" is about you in first and second war. / Micke P

      Yea, someone mentioned "into the fire" which is about napalm and war lust. Not very appropriate
