@@Wasteman365 some people have more natural ability to see certain tactics or they practice puzzles, but don’t learn the end games. Getting to 1000 literally just requires basic tactics, one solid opening understanding for each color and nothing else

At 17:08, I think the reason white didn't make the queen is because he saw that a8 was defended by the black queen on g2 and he didn't want to make a queen just to lose it immediately. It's silly, but it's exactly the kind of evaluation I can imagine a 400-500 or so player making. He probably thought he had a better play than to make the queen and trade with the opponent, even though doing so would put him absurdly ahead in material, especially considering that pawn on the b file that could just promote to another queen in case white isn't confident in pulling off a king and rook checkmate.
I love all the thrills, chills, and spills of this game!! Refusing to promote the aPawn to Queen is like a Queen sacrifice by White. I can only aspire to achieve the brilliance of these two players. Bravo!!👏👏👏

Know how to defend against common tricks like the fried liver attack, ect. Learn a few solid openings for playing as white and playing as black. You can get to 1000 elo if you do these things.
