Listen, I am a SUPER fan..of Rochelle Ferrell, It's nothing anyone can say about her,her voice is AMAZING, nobody can do what she does..I seen her perform at the dell East in Philadelphia where we are both from she literally put the microphone I'm just in love with her voices.
Rachelle is out of this world. Her abilities are endless. Her creativity is unmatched. She basically yawned out a C#7 - E7 for like ages and then does a sustained C5 belt for what seemed like my entire life. She is definitely the GOAT.
Not since the late, great & glorious Sarah Vaughn has one singer brought so much raw, originality, pure talent & so many colors to a vocal. This woman is The Truth! Egregiously unsung! Huge Fan! #RachelleFerrellAintNoJoke
Both she and Sarah Vaughn (Rest in Power) have the similarity of great musicianship (piano / organ) 🎹 which I believe also inform and enhance their vocal gift.

I wonder how much of it is simply her not wanting the media attention, though… lots of great singers are supposedly not receiving of their “flowers”, but sometimes we hear about singers who either can’t stand the musical "politics" of the industry or are SCREWED by the industry. Or they simply have personal issues, family stuff, or don’t like the extensive traveling or attention. So they make music how they want to. As the great Mya has discussed… also, I think Rachelle is highly regarded amongst musicians. She was chosen in the 1990s to sing on a live tribute to Patti La Belle (look it up), a quartet performance with Peabo Bryson, Tamia and Ronald Isley. And yes, Rachelle killed the entire performance. Burned the venue down and buried it, while belting one long, sustained "Patti"-style note, all while looking directly at Patti! Ms LaBelle had to readjust her wig and wipe away the tears! 😂 It was so sweet. And powerful. And when Rachelle was going off at the end, improvising, Patti was crying, waving her arms, like "oh, stop it already!". ❤️ 😆

I’am sure she performs this song many times in a year, so she has to outdo herself each time she sings it, so it reminds fresh and intense. There’s nothing worse then being bored with your own song, so taking it to the next phase, baby is the only way….

I heard her in the 90’s I am a fan of true vocalists. Aretha Karen Carpenter Patti , etc. once I heard Rachelle my ears said it is done….
