Could you address feelings of fear coming up in meditation? Is this something you have experienced, Beth? Sadhu, Sadhu, Sadhu for sharing your wisdom!!

Great idea! Yes, I'll make a video on fear. It's very common in meditation. Thank you for the suggestion.

    Mingalaba Beth,
Do you have any thoughts on the back lash of sense restraint? For example, attending a ten day course, following the eight precepts, and then binge eating the next few days after. The intensity of restraint forces the pendulum to swing too far the other way. Any way to prevent this?

Motivating ourselves through loving-kindness and wisdom rather than through discipline and self-judgement can help with this. The Buddha suggested that we look at both the gratification and the danger in the case of sense pleasures, and seeing these with wisdom we can understand that the most loving choice for ourselves is sense restaint.

Thanks for pointing that out. I’ll try to apply more wisdom, but I guess I’ll just have to accept when I can’t see how all those chocolate chip cookies could be a bad thing. 😝

    Hello Beth,
What are your thoughts on exercise? When i feel stressed out in some part of my life i would go ride my bicycle to a nearby park just to distract myself from reality. There is a lot if senses involve that creates the attachment for me to enjoy biking is this bad?

Hi Daren, that's a great question. In general when we meditate we are moving from more coarse states of mind towards more subtle states of mind. It could be that biking helps you to calm down from a more agitated or stressed state, and so you could think of it like a middle step on your way to something more subtle still, like walking meditation, or sitting meditation.
