    Had one of these for several months, set up similar to yours.
    Running a Sonic suppressor and thread is .578x24. Only issue was it hit the mag tube cap, so had to machine a radius on it. I also have some .578 crush washers, but have not needed to use them. Suppressor helps heaps with recoil. Thanks for the video

    Cheers for this, as a result ive brought the 44 mag ( because bigger is better (lol), and the availablity of 44mag and 44 sp ammo) with the same vector optics and cant wait till it arrives.

    Your reviews/build vid solidified me getting 1. Filled the butt stock with silicone, and BBs. That definitely helped balance the rifle out, and felt more solid.

    I have a Rossi in 357 and it shoots high. I’ve just ordered the Citadel now too. 38sp is a great fun calibre for everyone. 44mag is brutal

      To me the 44 mag is a low recoil caliber, in the same class than the .223 and .357
      To start feeling something on a rifle you need to go with .308 or way bigger (45-70 for lever action), 44 mag can have recoil but you need to put it into a handgun.

    3:30 That's what I did. Couldn't believe the stock was... well I showed it to my 81 year young mom and she thought it was a toy rather than a firearm or tool. I got home from the shop around 11:15 am and right around noon I had ordered my Boyd's Pepperwood Buttstock. Can't wait for it to arrive! Hoping beyond hope it will be before christmas. PS THANK YOU for the reassembly video, I was running into so many problems that I actually visited a gunsmith who also was having some issues. I suggested we watch your vid and within 30 minutes I was on my way. Thank you!

    Hi. Have you had issues with the scope rail? I've had to loctite mine a couple of times. Ditched the sights and using a red dot. Added paracord and a limbsaver recoil pad. Also added some weight in the stock, made a big difference to felt recoil. Getting around 2 inch groups with 240 grain factory ammo at 100m.
    Your videos have been very helpful, thanks.

    • @pyrate_nz
      @pyrate_nz  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes the rail needs loctite, so does the and gaurd screws. Thats ussally the first thing I do with a new firearm & a full strip, clean & lube. My first rifle was so bad out of the box the rail was falling off (can been seen in my inital review video). Roughtly how much weight did you add? I imagine it balancese better too. Group is not bad for a red dot, its about the same as what i got with 240gr holow points. glad your enjoying the videos

  • @adamlucas76
    @adamlucas76 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Have you had anymore issues with the rail for the site? I got mine the other day, it has a similar sized red dot mounted on it. First go at sighting in I couldn't get it within a dinner plate, eventually noticed that the rail had come loose. Took it home and put lock tite on the screws, went back out and same thing happened. Took it home and once I removed the optic noticed that one screw had sheared off and 2 had completely stripped out. It will be getting sent back to the dealer for replacement but I'm concerned the build quality may not be up to the 44 magnum.

    • @pyrate_nz
      @pyrate_nz  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That sucks. My inital one has the same issue, but it was movable by hand out of the box. The replacement has been perfect. It groups very well and has held up to recoil with no issues, and i have put a fair few rounds through it now. I did loctite the new one before i mounted the red dot. But then again I loctite everything and put witness marks on too.

    Hi, a question re function. Does your Citadel 44 release a round from magazine on closing or opening the bolt?

    • @pyrate_nz
      @pyrate_nz  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Closing. With the bolt closed (empty or loaded) the next round is sitting half out of the mag tube. The case rim sits inline with the notch on the loading gate. Hope this helps

    What do you think of the hanguard? Is it free floating? Rigid?
    Appreciate your feedback, about to pull the trigger on getting one

    • @pyrate_nz
      @pyrate_nz  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its just like any other M-Lok handgaurd, but is not free float. It would be impossible to free float one on a 92 receiver.
      Its very strong but the offset mlok is not 45deg like on most AR handgaurds. Check my setup video to see what I mean

    Hello Sir. Would you compare the Citadel Levtec vs Rossi R92 triple black as equal quality firearms? I like the Rossi stock a little better since it's painted wood. The Rossi is ceracoated which is nice. TheMLok does not make our break me. They both have the rail with the peep site and the threaded barrel. I called the importer here in the US they say the Citadel is a Philippine manufactured firearm. It looks identical to the Rossi R92 right down to the receiver safety. They price point is about the same between the two. I have the Rossi trike black on layaway but the Citadel just became available. The seller offered me the opp to swap. Fantastic Reviews!
    Thanks

    • @pyrate_nz
      @pyrate_nz  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, they are the same rifle apart from furniture. My levtac is stamped 'Made in Brazil by CBC' aka Rossi. Your dealer is partialy correct, Citadel makes it 1911's in the Philipines. The painted wood stock and the cerakote would be a step up if your not worried about m-lok. Thanks for your support!

    • @gidim8367
      @gidim8367 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@pyrate_nz Great thanks for your reply. Yes the M lok is a nice feature but the finish on the Citadel has me a little worried since most "bluing" coming out of Brazil now is cold black oxide(horrible) and at least the triple black is ceracoated(which honestly is not a great quality ceracoate either) which is better than the Oxide. If you can clarify for me if your rifle is actually blued that will be great. If it is I may pick up the Citadel. There are less complaints about the Citadel than the Triple Black which is odd(since they are the same rifle). Maybe there are just more Triple Blacks distributed than Citadels. I have two traditional R92's but they are heavily gun smithed by a pro and I was hoping to be out of the box with this sample and just shoot it. But the likelihood unfortunately with this brand even after the revetting of their manufacturing is a gamble. Legacy proved even more suspect because they don't even know the origin of the firearm they are distributing and could not even clarify weather it is blued or Oxide, which makes me question their warranty if they stand by their product(seeing how they only have base knowledge of it). Taurus/Rossi on the other hand(which is actually here in Georgia where I am) albeit a life time warranty, have some pretty flakey gun Smith's and it's a bit of a crap shoot weather they actually fix your firearm if you send it in. This conjecture is based on two U tube channels: "Johnny Shoots Allot" whom I know and the other"Gun Sam Revolver Aficionado", who has a great channel for revolvers and reloading. They have both had marginal and documented warranty experiences with Taurus/Rossi. Honestly if I could get my hands on a Marlin or a Henry Side Loader I'd be done "turd polishing" but they are unobtainable.
      Thanks again for your hard work subbed BTW 👍

    • @pyrate_nz
      @pyrate_nz  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      mine is black oxide. it has been done well. i would rather have a good back oxcide over a poor cerakote job. thanks 4 the sub

      @@pyrate_nz Well the saga ended😂 Seller told me after they changed my order to the Citadel it was actually out of stock. It was either back to the 92 or for a few hundred more S&W 6" 629, I took the easy road the S&W. Thanks for all the info and support.

    • @pyrate_nz
      @pyrate_nz  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the 357 is 1/2x28 and the 44 & 45 are 37/64x28. It was a cheap 223 brake I had on and AR. Started life as 1/2x28 but because I have the 44 I bored it out and re tapped it. Search "223 muzzle brake" on ebay and it comes up

    Hey mate, I have one of these on order and am planning on doing similar things as you have done to yours.
    Do you think it would benefit from the spring changes that people do on the older Rossi 92's?

    • @pyrate_nz
      @pyrate_nz  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine was pretty good out of the box. The only spring I have changed is the ejector, factory one throws brass for a mile & if you reload that sucks. The action is fairly slick and a quick poilsh of the sear and trigger and your away. I would try it first as see what you dont like.

    • @07liberty58
      @07liberty58 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pyrate_nz Thanks for that. I have a spring kit here already waiting for it. Ejector spring for sure from everything I have read, also hammer spring and maybe chop the magazine spring too. Looking forward to testing it out

    Hi i have a question about the 44 mag, i brought one today and havnt had a chance to fire it yet however when i did load some rounds to check it cycle it would load and eject the first round as normal but wouldnt load the next round in the mag? Just wondering if thats because the round in the chamber wasnt fired so it hasnt reset something or if i potentially have a feeding issue. Any help would be appreciated as im no gun smith so fault finding isnt my strong suit

    • @pyrate_nz
      @pyrate_nz  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      With I bit of luck it's just needs a clean. You could have a sticky follower etc. You many also need to be a bit more aggressive in your operation of the lever. As you can get the 1st round to load it's unlikely to be something major. There is nothing that trips when fired.

    • @citarael182
      @citarael182 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ok good to know, are you still planning on making a cleaning video on the levtac in future would i need to strip it all down or is it possible to do with just the slide open would you say? Just a bit nervous to strip it down as i havnt before

      if you check out my playlist for the levtac I have a disassembly and re-assembly video. th-cam.com/play/PL1DaalhTEyGCCxYMAMSIWN0rxIwGs8LcC.html

    • @citarael182
      @citarael182 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ive found the issue but unsure the solution i think i will need to go into a gun smith, its to do with the carrier. Once the mag is loaded theres a round on the carrier already and it can feed that round fine but once you close the bolt the carrier doesnt retract all the way down to feed a new round onto it. if i really crank the handle every 3 or 4 it will load a round. I dont understand the mechanism enough to know a fix. For now if i open the mag gate arfter each round it pushes the carrier down to load another round. Looking at the manual it may be a pin or spring in the carrier.

    • @pyrate_nz
      @pyrate_nz  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      if you just brought it, I would be taking it back. the lifter sould be pushed back down by the lever when the action is closed. it could be the the lifter or lever is out of spec.
