Yes. But as the people are, if it was 50$ nobody would buy. It's like an iphone, if it was a popular price nobody would buy it. Unfortunately. This console is a great thing, different of all. It deserve the price that it costs.
Think of it another way - you're investing in something that WILL ship and that will be a lovely surprise when it does finally drop through the letterbox!
@@aidenstanley7305 I've done the same thing with the Analogue Pocket. I ordered mine in December 2021 and I'm in fulfillment group c, which is some time in 2023. Like Panic, they also take payment at time of ordering but honestly I don't mind this because I know that when the time comes to ship I don't have a surprise bill and I can just sit back and wait for it to drop through my letterbox. Have to say as good as the Analogue pocket looks, I'm way more excited for the playdate.
Great video! I'm in group 2 and mine has shipped. Expected delivery date is between 1st and 5th July as I'm in the UK. I pre ordered as soon as they went live and I can't wait to get my hands on it! It just looks like pure fun. I might even try my hand at making a game for it 👍
Heck, I can't even get mine set up, been trying for 3 hours and nothing, it's not sending me the link for set up, nowhere to enter a pin, I'm stuck at registering the device and followed instructions, it says to enter the pin online but its' nowhere to be found, going in the garbage
Having it for about 3 weeks now how do you feel about owning the device? I'm curious about purchasing one it seems like a good idea but yet im still a bit hesitant...
Honestly, I'm really enjoying it. The games are great pick-up-and-play titles, so I tend to play it when I have a few free moments. Your mileage may vary, of course, but if you like simple games and the ability to side-load all sorts of indie stuff, then you might like it. Keep in mind that if you order now, you likely won't receive one until 2023. You can check out my other videos for more Playdate content. I've done reveal videos for all the Season 1 games that I've received, so far.
@@jluedtke thanks for the much needed input greatly appreciated think it was the last straw I needed (planning on pre-ordering for 2023 batch) have you tried the game making component that is really what I'm most interested in...

cool but that almost as much as a switch lite which is honestly a way better use of money then that which you will probably use once and never again and for the price how hard would it be to add a fucking color screen. 180 bucks and its black and white
It's made for enthusiasts. The black and white screen is a very deliberate choice -- it comes with some interesting quirks, such as being very energy friendly and individual pixels not needing to be refreshed every frame. I got mine just now and it's a super cool little thing, although if you're not into indie games or have any interest in gamedev it might not be worth the money.
you should consider this is one of the most impressive ink displays and is basically an extremely impressive technology You should also understand this was not mass produced by a huge megacorporation but was made by a bunch of dudes like you
I think the price is fair, is a new system and it only cost 200 bucks, but for that price you can find a switch lite, but the switch doesn’t have much games free, and the play date literally give you every week 5 games, so actually is a fair options to use like when you are bored

That screen is high res! Shame it lacks a backlight but then again the device is tiny. So easily pocketable. Great video thanks.
