That was an era of magnificently beautiful film stars and super dramatic stories that made you soar, in movie theaters all over the world. Film at that time was truly an art form. So grateful for seeing them here today.

"Kerr made a career out of playing "veddy" proper, kind of inherently uptight, women"- rubbish. Look at her 40s British films, from Love on the Dole to I See a Dark Stranger and Black Narcissus. Amazing range. Her early Hollywood films undermined this versatility, except for her astonishing portrayal in Edward, My Son. However, From Here to Eternity paved the way for much better roles, demonstrating her range. Her performances in The Sundowners (shiuld have won that elusive Oscar) and The Innocents (perhaps her greatest, most complex performance; should have won the Oscar, wasn't even nominated) disprove your glib statement. Deborah herself would have railed against your assertion : "I've played everything from nuns to nymphomaniacs." By the way, the script Deborah originally accepted for Beloved Infidel detailed Graham's early life. She was disappointed that Peck had it re-written to focus more on him, excising what had initially attracted Deborah to the role.

Led her to "breathless fulfillment".... Well if that's not the most flowery euphemism ever for the big O!
Meanwhile, the overacting looks pretty ridiculous. That's pretty much on par for Peck, but unusual for Kerr.

Well, as a writer who tends to romanticize great writers past and present, I can certainly understand the “breathless fulfillment” part with Scott Fitzgerald. Multiple “O”s, lol.
