Absolutely correct.
@@SalesforceHulk Also, the only suported external id fields are Custom text, number or email fields. Seems to me that Auto number has been deleted from this list.

You can use an auto-number an external ID field, but the Data Loader does not support it for use with the upsert functionality.

if you make a field unique and the same field an external id also will it be counted as 2 (1 unique + 1 ext) or just 1?

Please explain about External Lookup relationships
To make a record as unique, one external id is enough right, why we have limit to more than one external id to create for particular object. Please suggest me.
On an object, we can have 25 external ids not one

Nice question, Gowtham. If any field is set as external Id as well as unique then it will be considered as 1 not 2.
