Conquering, murdering, and selling off planets. I know Goku isn’t a hero in the traditional sense, but THAT is what heroes do.

For Frieza to die in such a humiliating way left a stain on the family name. That's why I like about his character. He's simply come to earth to clean up Freiza's mess. He doesn't care much about the death of his brother, just the fact he has to undo the damage Frieza did.
That's exactly what I always find it incredibly satisfying! A villain being the architect of their own downfall. 😊 Both Frieza and Cooker had essentially doomed their family and empire by letting Baby Goku live. And as a result, he grew up to be strong enough to defeat them both. 😊
This movie shows how you write a story. They set up in the beginning that Cooler saw baby Goku leaving Vegeta and let it go and then at the end, moments before his death Cooler realizes that Goku, who has defeated him and his brother, is the baby he let go all those years ago. That's how you make a story come full circle.
On top of that, Frieza starts the movie by destroying Goku's birth planet with a Supernova. And in the end of the film, Cooler attempts to destroy the Earth with the same move. But unlike his father (who's counter attack did nothing to the Supernova), Goku was actually able to successfully blast the Supernova back and protect his home. It's a true bookend and passing of the torch. _"This is for all the people we killed in your name!"_ _"You've murdered millions of innocent people. I can't let it go on!"_
Goku wrestling against the force of an entire sun throw against him and pushing it back is probably the manliest thing in the entirety of DragonBall (bonus points for the soundtrack).

I think that was the whole point of this moment. Bardock wasn't powerful enough to defeat Frieza, but at the end of Bardock: Father of Goku, he saw that Goku would be the one to defeat Frieza. In a way, pushing back the very attack that destroyed Planet Vegeta and engulfed Bardock in a supernova was a way of showing exactly what Bardock saw in his visions. That Goku would be the one to avenge the Saiyan Race and bring honor to his family name.

Everything in Z was better the animation was much more gritty and detailed like the bruises and cuts they get when they fight in Z. In super everything looks shiny and fake and the animation is piss poor

Very poetic and ironic if you think about it. When Frieza destroyed Planet Vegeta Bardock was the first to die and while dying had one last vision realizing Goku would go on to kill Frieza someday, Bardock died with a smile. Cooler dies by Goku hands, the same saiyan child who posed no threat and has already killed his brother, because he let him live due to petty family issues.
He obviously had no idea of every saiyans potential😂. If he would’ve just been on board with Frieza then him and his family wouldn’t ever be stopped. Cooler screwed himself and his family😂
Cooler may have looked down on Frieza's arrogance and incompetance. But ultimately it was Cooler that sealed both his own and Frieza's fates by letting Goku live when he had the chance decades ago.

You know that something is wrong with DB power scaling when a feat done by a mere Super Saiyan is visually more impressive that most of the feats in DBS.
Its just that this level of power is already op to the point where the huge jumps after cant describe it without destoying the planet while sneezing so toriyama just gave up trying to make the property damage realistic and put out some bs about how they had to learn to fully control their power safely even when using it

How to fix that ? It's simple really, OG DB characters remain in city level range, evil Saiyans are between continental and multi continental, Final Form Frieza is planet surface level, Super Perfect Cell goes up to maybe multi planet level and Buu hits star level, maybe multi star level. Of course Toriyama would never write that because he loves crazy power jumps but he doesn't potray them well.

Man this is my absolute favorite Dragonball Z movie! Nothing comes close to the excitement and joy it brings - the vibrant colors, the shift between daylight and night back to daylight, the artistic work of making the day express Twilight and Dawn even the sense of evening and all! This is by far the best of the best of Dragonball Z movies. If they ever bring Cooler into existence in Super - whether an actual character or Cold resurrected to take this form, or Frieza pushing himself so hard in training that this is the form he unlocks or maybe a fusion between rivals Frieza and Frost to create Cooler form! Man I got a major story in either direction I go with that! As long as they use the same symbolically awesome soundtrack - AND THEY BETTER HAVE GOKU SCREAM WITH COSMKC SCREAM HE DOES IN THIS!!!! YEAH I'M A FANBOY FOR GOKU! (all though of late, he's been making some pretty dumb decisions.)
This movie is a peak example of why Goku has so many fanboys; no matter what, he is ALWAYS on the side of the innocent and vulnerable and he's smart enough at least to know when the cycle has to be broken (no mercy for Cooler unlike Frieza). That said, seeing this when I was only a kid way back made me a Cooler fangirl for life. XD

The blast destroyed the sun so it was gokus blast that killed cooler once it exploded cause the sun is a living explosion lol so basically the blast killed cooler the sun was just a bonus exploding on top the blast that was already exploding

Cooler's downfall was his arrogance. He had Goku at death's door and he was prematurely celebrating. He could've finished pushing the supernova to destroy the planet and it would've been over.

That's not physical strength, Super Saiyan Vegeta in Dragon Ball Super can't even lift over a 1000 tons let alone a planet, that's Ki. Remember that time when Super Saiyan Goku covered his finger in Ki and blocked Trunks' strikes ? The same thing happend here except now the Ki is covering his entire body. All feats in Dragon Ball are done with Ki, nobody in Dragon Ball can blow up a planet with their fists except GODs and maybe Jiren and Goku (going off manga where Champa and Beerus blow up planets and scaling Goku and Jiren to Champa and Beerus), everybody below that has to use Ki techniques like a Supernova or Galick Gun. When Beerus taps the planet and blows it up ? Yep that's Ki. Goku shaking the universe isn't about his punches either, it's about Ki. This is the reason why Goku can be hurt by a rock when he's sleeping and killed by a laser when he's off guard, without using Ki his durability is the same as a peak human. Superman on the other hand is always at his full power, he can't power down like Goku and his power comes mostly from pure physical force. And nearly all anime fans confuse movies with comics, if you're using movie Superman or Wonder Woman then it's only fair to use Dragon Ball Evolution version of Goku.

That blast has so much impact behind it that it could shatter a planet so for goku to stop the impact and push back against it shows that he is physically strong enough to Stop something with enough impact to shatter a planet. That's basically equivalent to stoping the impact of another planet from colliding with earth or a meteor moving at the speed of light. Goku can stop that so he is stronger then superman.

I have watched this scene hundreds of times since I first saw it as a kid, and every time, it has given me goosebumps.
This movie had the GOAT depiction of the pre-Cell Saga Super Saiyan form. It just looks and feels incredibly powerful.

Man this is my absolute favorite Dragonball Z movie! Nothing comes close to the excitement and joy it brings - the vibrant colors, the shift between daylight and night back to daylight, the artistic work of making the day express Twilight and Dawn even the sense of evening and all!
This is by far the best of the best of Dragonball Z movies. If they ever bring Cooler into existence in Super - whether an actual character or Cold resurrected to take this form, or Frieza pushing himself so hard in training that this is the form he unlocks or maybe a fusion between rivals Frieza and Frost to create Cooler form!
Man I got a major story in either direction I go with that! As long as they use the same symbolically awesome soundtrack -

Cooler's Final Form is a perfect design.
For me it's second best the number one spot goes to, Bardock the Father of Goku.
This movie is a peak example of why Goku has so many fanboys; no matter what, he is ALWAYS on the side of the innocent and vulnerable and he's smart enough at least to know when the cycle has to be broken (no mercy for Cooler unlike Frieza).
That said, seeing this when I was only a kid way back made me a Cooler fangirl for life. XD

I love this scene cause its a mirrors when bardock was hit by a supernova only this time goku surpasses his father, lets be honest despite how epic his fight was with freiza, we were disappointed that freiza didn’t use supernova
And remember freiza killed prince vegeta which is trunks grandad and the sayians and trunks killed freiza and he's dad king cold karma
Dbz had lots of small details and symbolism in it that's easy to look over
The scene of Goku powering up to stop the Supernova was perfect.
Best song choices, best fight scenes to me DBZ Coolers Revenge is the best DBZ movie.
It really was a gem. The fact that people want Cooler back and as canon is a testament.

This is a 12.5x speed of light feat, Goku's Ki Blast reached the Sun in 40 seconds, light takes 8 minutes and 20 seconds to do that.

We didn't saw a speed feat that is even relativistic until Piccolo blasted the Moon.
However, it should be noted that ki apparently can travel at ridiculous speeds without necessarily having a relation with the power of the character, as Vegeta demonstrated that he can send Moro's stolen ki back to Namek in seconds.
@@Dexuz Dude Kid Goku was arguably dodging lasers from Officer Blacks Robo mech, nothing contradicts this feat from being lightspeed, so it being lightspeed its definitely arguable. he was also able to snatch Roshi's glasses after the solar flare was initiated but right before the light hit Goku's eyes which is a faster than light speed feat.
Even the sun needed a break after beating Cooler.

In his defense it was, when Goku fought Frieza on Namek, if Frieza didn't toy with so much during their battle on Namek, he could easily beaten Goku before he went Super Saiyan.

Cooler's downfall was his arrogance. He had Goku at death's door and he was prematurely celebrating. He could've finished pushing the supernova to destroy the planet and it would've been over.

@@thelvadam90 Yes, but you have to remember earth absorbs light from the sun. If the sun disappeared right now it take several days for the temp to start to drop. About a week to drop 30 degrees probably. A week or 2 and all of the world would be covered in ice.

That's not physical strength, Super Saiyan Vegeta in Dragon Ball Super can't even lift over a 1000 tons let alone a planet, that's Ki.
Remember that time when Super Saiyan Goku covered his finger in Ki and blocked Trunks' strikes ? The same thing happend here except now the Ki is covering his entire body.
All feats in Dragon Ball are done with Ki, nobody in Dragon Ball can blow up a planet with their fists except GODs and maybe Jiren and Goku (going off manga where Champa and Beerus blow up planets and scaling Goku and Jiren to Champa and Beerus), everybody below that has to use Ki techniques like a Supernova or Galick Gun.
When Beerus taps the planet and blows it up ? Yep that's Ki.
Goku shaking the universe isn't about his punches either, it's about Ki.
This is the reason why Goku can be hurt by a rock when he's sleeping and killed by a laser when he's off guard, without using Ki his durability is the same as a peak human.
Superman on the other hand is always at his full power, he can't power down like Goku and his power comes mostly from pure physical force.
And nearly all anime fans confuse movies with comics, if you're using movie Superman or Wonder Woman then it's only fair to use Dragon Ball Evolution version of Goku.
@@fly672 That's not how dbz ki energy works. When a dbz character charges up their energy they are powering their bodies to Increase their PHYSICAL strength. All goku did was power up his finger and make it more durable to take trunk's sword slashes. If they needed to make barrier to protect themselves from things that could harm them you would see them create a force field. They have that ability.
@@fly672 when goku stops a planet destroying blast he puts his hands on and physically tries to push back against the force that the blast is creating. That's why you see him strain. That blast has so much impact behind it that it could shatter a planet so for goku to stop the impact and push back against it shows that he is physically strong enough to Stop something with enough impact to shatter a planet. That's basically equivalent to stoping the impact of another planet from colliding with earth or a meteor moving at the speed of light. Goku can stop that so he is stronger then superman.
