Hi PCM - I got these hydroton clay pellets from Amazon and the bag was surprisingly cheaper than my local garden store: amzn.to/3SKAYol I haven't had any issues with these other than making sure to rinse them or soak them overnight before using them to rinse off the extra clay dust.
I forgot I had hydroton sitting in water for months and the balls never broke down on their own. So it seems like the hydroton will never break down in just water
You absolutely can and that's probably a better idea! This was just a test to see if hydroton would eventually sink if you soak them so it doesn't uproot your plants
Ok the video goes back 1,5 years butt, are you joking? Smashing the floaters? In 2 bags there are almost 1 bag of floaters. Do you really believe as in a system with 50 or more bags ( sacks ) people start smashing 25 or more of the bags / sacks. Why not drill a litlle hole in it? So you can do a new video to be shure afterlife is still on TH-cam long after you left the planet.
Trying to use it as substrate in my aquarium lol
I think I’ll have to use something else though
Nice video thanks for this
Happy to help out! Good luck with your hydroponics setup :-)
can you suggest me which brand is good in quality. Thanks

Then all the small pieces end up in the fish tank. Not really a good fix when using a bell siphon.
How long does this last before it breaks into a soggy mess?

Hydroton is called keramzyt, in Poland.
love you brother
Just take the floaters and put them in the bottom of the next pot you make...
You just need to let it soak for longer
Why not just remove the floating ones and use them to fill a saucer so the plant's roots don't rot? This is such a funny idea!

@@catchgrowcook I know. It's just that to my over-rational mind this was just totally unexpected and therefore funny.
