Thanks Big Al, I appreciate your videos, and am happy to be on this journey with you, I am a sparky as well, with my core contracting business doing well, i'm looking at other business angles and avenues with more online presence. Very excited to hear your guidance!
My business is growing, and is very different from yours; but im at a point now where i need to expand and am so anxious ! Im doing all myself at the moment but will need help soon, and the thought of bringing on staff is terrifying ! How did you make that jump? I also still work full time, to help pay the mortgage and feed the kids.. But my side gig, is quickly becoming my main gig... I just dont wanna make that huge jump, as it could all implode. Any advise?
BigAL, I was in Londonderry today collecting a kitchen worktop. The MD needs 6 extra staff and can't get them. Never met him before and I thought he was going to offer me a job. What's going wrong with Northern Ireland?
@@robblack7560 nothing. He can get the staff just won't pay for them. So he can use automation, but won't pay for that either. Always the same, employers need to invest in their staff or machines
I do believe staff have changed over the years and their attitude toward work. In my years of experience back when i started so many people worked because they had to, it was their upbringing, but as times have went over and now 30 years plus on. I note people will not work for a company that do not look after them learn to lead and provide a lifestyle that allows them to be at home most of the time rather than being slaughtered at work. Even though i welcome the new life work balance and i pay my staff well. I still found it very hard and arduous to get the staff i now have. It took me almost 4 years to get 12 great people working for me. And i treat them as gold because i have had to allow quite a few bronze workers to come into my business and try and destroy it specially ones who do not want to work
I was in his showroom for 15 minutes (never been before). Three customers arrived looking for sink units, taps, door handles and I was able to help while waiting on my worktop being cut. Am I getting old?
Im not sure, however i cant speak for him but in my experience wages are not the only thing that attracts good staff to work for you. There is a major concern regarding this. Where just a certain amount of the working population wont clean, serve others, work hard, like on a building site, or work in a factory. Everyone wants the millionaire lifestyle with a beer income and so refuse to work. I have seen it. The other day we had an applicant tell me he was high level and wanted 35k a year starting with 12 weeks paid holidays and 2 days at home. Stating he was the best staff i would get. Needless to say i thanked him and wished his life journey serves his purposes
No way Rob you keep up the hard work maybe you can advise the guy to find staff for him vet them yourself and seek some cash saving payment to get him staff you may know and want a job? I feel for him tbh
