    Should dry up in a month.. lol.. you’re right, those ferns pop up everywhere..I use the backhoe and gently pop them out of areas I want to clean up, and transplant them elsewhere. A little more work with a shovel, but eventually your campsite won’t have any. You might consider bringing some material from elsewhere on your property, to increase the elevation of your campsite island .. an inch or two will make a big difference in keeping the area drier. Have a blessed Easter, and enjoy your weekend.

    • @PaleHorseOutdoors
      @PaleHorseOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think you're right about this area, David. The lower parts back in the NW corner where the little winter pond is may not be dry until June or July if anything like last year. We love those ferns, man. Some of them grow to nearly 6 feet tall back in the Ancient forest near that pond. Good idea about building it up some. I was thinking about putting in some rock around a fire pit, too. When you come for a visit we can check it out! Have a safe and blessed Easter, bud! 🙏

    It's been a weird winter here this year. We didn't get much snow at all. Spring is coming pretty late here now. The farmers want to get in the fields and get the crops planted. The ground temperature as of Friday morning was still 39 degrees. That's nearly 20 degrees below normal for this time of year in Iowa. There won't be any planting this week. It will be down either below freezing or just above every night in the extended forecast. 100% chance of rain Wednesday and 80% Thursday and Friday. The farmers get really ancy after Easter if the crops aren't planted. This looks to be an interesting year.
    Your tractor is the perfect size for what you are doing David. You have to get into some really tight places. You may have just answered that age old question of "does size really matter"
    Thanks David. Have a Happy Easter
