    In response to your ridiculous video…
    1. Black MPs are exclusively for poseurs, silver MPs are for photographers.
    2. Lenny Kravitz is a tw@t.
    3. What on God’s green earth is a “Sony Alpha Professional”?
    4. Why have you stuck a red Skittle to your shutter release?
    5. Your camera (serial number #563****) will almost certainly scratch your film (see multiple threads online). Quality camera, eh?
    6. “The way the aperture turns on Leica lenses”… erm, you don’t have a Leica lens, you have a Light Lens Lab thing. Don’t buy a quality camera, if you are unable to support it with quality lenses (would you put remoulds on a Ferrari?). Actually, I suspect that you probably would.
    7. All proper Leica cameras have a shutter speed dial which turns in the correct direction. (Admitting that you have used an M6 TTL is quite embarrassing.)
    8. “Some 3rd party manufacturers sell bottom plates that ‘has’ the tripod plates built into it…” erm, Leica has always sold a grip with a central tripod socket… not that any real Leica photographer has ever used a tripod (see point 10 below).
    9. “Focusing fast lenses can also be an issue, but then that’s a general caveat of focusing vintage cameras…” this is most certainly, definitely, categorically not a vintage camera. Good grief.
    10. “Focus, focus,focus, and then the moment just passes you, you’re never going to get it back, you just move on…” you really are not understanding the capability of a rangefinder, or how to use one, or why they are used, or how to use one, or how one is used, or how one should be used, or how one might be used, or how to use one, bless you.
    11. “The 0.85 is better suited for ‘longer’ lenses such as the 35, such as the 50” what on earth are you talking about? These are not longer lenses.
    12. In conclusion, I hope that no one looks to you for advice on the Leica MP, as you clearly have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. I am getting increasingly frustrated by hipsters such as yourself, with more money than sense, spouting complete and utter nonsense about Leica rangefinders, decrying their subjective foibles, with total and utter ineptitude. Maybe for your next video you should review a milkshake, you can’t go far wrong with that.

    I'm a fellow happy owner of the Leica MP Black Paint and I do shoot it almost every day. Another rangefinder camera that I would add to the conversation is the Nikon SP remake that was produced in 2005. This is in my opinion as well built as the MP and a truly unique and beautiful camera. The 2005 edition of the SP came with a W-Nikkor 3.5cm f/1.8. It's a magnificent lens with a fascinating history.

      Oooh the nikon sp is awesome. There are rumours flying around of a ZS.. sort of like a digital rangefinder. I don’t see it happening soon though unless they decide to make rangefinder lenses. Or use the current lenses but make it just look like a rangefinder.

    Thanks for your first impression, just 2 remarks (as a owner...):
    the direction of the shutter-dial makes absolute sense. The whole system of these cameras works with long and short fingers. While focussing the long finger is for long distance and in the case of choosing the shutter-speed it's the same thing. Long finger is for long exposure, short finger for short exposure. Quite simple I think.
    Concerning the magnifications of the rangefinder: the current version comes "just" with 0,72x magnification. For me not a problem at all, cause I use from 40mm upwards the 1,25 magnifier and I'm fine with it.

    Your reflection on the Leica MP was one of the most detailed and thorough I've come across. I appreciate your clarity in discussing the various aspects of the camera. I started my Leica film journey with the M3, but have always had my eye on the MP. I was later gifted the M6, which I am still working on developing a bond with. While the M6 is a great camera, the craftsmanship doesn't quite match that of the M3. Personally, I prefer the minimal design of cameras without logos and red dots, making the MP very appealing to me. It reminds me of a more refined version of the M3 with the added bonus of a light meter. I may consider trading in my M6 for the MP in the future. Using the M6 has made me appreciate the M3 even more. Your channel is excellent, and I can't wait to see more content from you. Congratulations, and I'm sure the MP will provide you with many enjoyable experiences!

    A few errors that I’ve been told in this video.
    1. You still can’t use the 21mm on the 0.58x viewfinder

    Turned off the second you mention light lens lab: but thats for another day. Also they didnt cram all the best things from M3 to M7 in a MP. They just took the design from M3 and M6 TTL. M7 for instance is an electronic design with aperture mode. You wouldnt find that in your MP. In fact later models of M7 took the flare resistant view finder from MP in reverse. 😂

      @@robbiesumantri yes but your statement of MP having the best elements from M3 to M7 is not true is it? The design is based off two models only. Skipping what was the highlights of the models in between.

      @robbiesumantri  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You’re right, they didn’t include a lot of features from a lot of cameras especially from the M7. I think leica was working on a fully mechanical camera instead of adding in electronic features from the M7. M5 had the first lightmeter, took some designs from the m3, m2, m4 and definitely the m6. But yes, it is sort of a more refined version of the m6.. thank you for stopping by

      @@robbiesumantri o what features did MP have from M2, M4? I think as a youtuber imparting useful information is important and as your viewer I love to learn from various sources so let's be specific.
      So far my understanding is the creation of MP came from the belief that M3 is being hailed as the best RF (despite many versions of M6) and Leica didnt want to recreate one that could tarnish the reputation so they decided to make MP which is exactly based on M3 anatomy. They added the TTL from M6 to stay relevant and chose 0.72 to allow 35mm lenses be used without goggle and fixed the flare issues with view finder. Elements from M2, M4 were not in the narrative so I am keen to hear what is added and the sources behind. Await your reply with thanks.

    • @robbiesumantri
      @robbiesumantri  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Reddotshutter well, I understand that these are also included in the M6 but, framelines for 35 originated from the M2. With the 28 and 75 from the m4. I know it’s sounding very trivial but those things originated from said cameras.
      It’s a culmination of various features. The later cameras were “improvements” from older cameras and a lot of the best mechanical features wound up in the MP & MA

    The MP is a good camera, but the M6 zinc body models are better not the re-issue. The M6 is a true shooter's camera, it has better balance. If you are a professional shooter the M6 will feel better and render more and better images, it feels intuitive. The MP is a good camera to collect, but it's not a true shooter's camera and you get a red dot logo; heritage. Just my opinion. Lenny Kravitz rules!

    • @robbiesumantri
      @robbiesumantri  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I see where you’re coming from. Some photographers will prefer the lighter weight but, balance wise, the mp being heavier will not make the camera front heavy when you’re using larger lenses. Adding weight might actually make something feel lighter depending on how the weight is distributed. In terms of rendering, I don’t understand how it renders better images as it depends on the lens and the film stock.
      Thank you for watching

    • @tedsoqui2087
      @tedsoqui2087 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@robbiesumantri Probably should have chosen a different word than rendering. How about "will make better images" with an m6 because of my opinions. I wouldn't mind owning an MP or an MA; I would rather use a M6. Something about the M6 feels special and intuitive, just like the M3 single stroke does. The M6ttl, M7, re-issue M6, MA, and MP all feel clunkier. That said, they are all brilliant photo machines. Plus, I'm not a fan of glossy paint. The plastic part of the M6's film winder is an improvement, tried changing it out to a solid arm winder and it was much harder to work with. Plus you can tuck your thumb easier under the winder arm to hold on to the camera better. Hence my opinion that it's a better shooter's camera. Everyone loves the red dot too. MP has a great real leather covering, think that's the biggest plus.

      @@robbiesumantri I think you will like the non-TTL classic. I prefer the 2 arrow metering, it's always super accurate and less distracting than the 2 arrow dot system. I've read some reviewers who didn't like the first M6's due to using "lesser" materials. I think Leica's use of the "lesser materials" is a plus, it's lighter and winds smoothly. I use the 21, 28, and 50mm lenses with it. Tried the 90mm and it worked out superbly. The film rewind knob is easier and faster for me to use in the field. Added a soft shutter release to it as well, was able to load up and feel the shutter better. The older focusing window isn't much of an issue, can't remember losing a shot due to having it ghost out. MP is a premium camera, M6 classic is a true shooter's camera.
