@7:47 thank you!!!! I've been saying this for years, i dont know why every car in every segment has to get bigger. Let trucks be trucks, compacts be compact and sports cars be sports cars not everything needs to be massive and heavy
footprint law in the US- smaller cars get harsher mpg and emissions targets; the way around it is to make everything larger so they get more lenient mpg targets
I’m a die hard 911 fan and i couldn’t choose between the generations on that way now. For a pretty long time my favourite was the 993 turbo but once i got to drive a 930 turbo wls which is a factory power increased version. Naturally it was all Euro soec as it never been sokd in the US. I instantly fell in love with it. It was raw and stupidly fast even by today’s standards. It also had all the nice options like heated electric sport seats, heated front windshield etc. Also got the rare color options Cassis red with burgundy interior with Ruf speedline wheels. It was wild and mean. It has got me so much that i have a constant deep love and desire for that car ever since.
I remember seeing this on the cover of EVO magazine when I was a kid and I bought it just to look at it over and over, it might just be my favorite 911 ever!
I never realized these weren't imported - I distinctly remember seeing and gawking at one of these 13 odd years ago n Houston, wonder if its the same one.
the whole rear part of the car, simplified rear bumper, clear exhaust poping out, and magnificient ducktail... oh man, I´m not a fan of most of the options of SC, but that back end setup is top
It doesn't have the anchor points for a roof rack. I suppose most people would never miss it, but I would. Every once in a while, on with the roof rack!
Fuchs is pronounced „fooks“ (same way as „looks“). The wheels are named after the company Otto Fuchs KG that manufactured them. Fuchs is also the German word for fox.
The turbo cars (991.2 and later) have a lot more low end torque. Anywhere above 2,000 rpm you can just step on the gas and the car will whoosh forward. You don't have to rev to 5,000 or more. The 997 still had that bar of soap look of the 996.
In my opinion, the 997 is my favorite modern 911. All the ones after start to seem too sterile and large. (I know, all 911s have looked basically the same since the beginning)
At 21:00 you mention "...being stuck in traffic in what may be close to a $500k car", are you referring to the 997 or the red vehicle a couple of lanes further over?
What's the deal with yellow tinted left side mirror? Also, how come it is registered despite the roof thingy and on a side note, what is the legal standpoint on red headlights like that Camaro had? I am fully with you on the closing words. I've been more of a 996 guy myself for the past year or two, while 991.2 has the perfect modern 911 looks in my eyes, but if someone asked me what a 911 is, a 997 would be what I'd show them. I think it's a perfect embodiment of that phase between early 2000s and what we refer to as modern cars right now, I can't imagine it being done any better. I am not the biggest fan of grey paintjobs, neither I am a fan of dark chocolate (or "espresso") leather, but despite these things this 911 is out of this world. I love all the chrome/polished aluminum details, I love the finish on the doors and the seats, I absolutely admite the seatbelts, the carbon intake is a highlight under the "hood" no doubt, but the thing that makes it look so spectacular is the rear end as a whole. Rear bumper together with these IDEAL exhaust tips and this duck tail tie together in a way I can't even describe. Just stunning. It is worth mentioning that it sounds really good too, nowadays the Carreras sound like complete vacuum cleaners, at least here in the EU and I totally forgot that a Carrera could sound that good. I had no idea such version existed and now I am absolutely in love with it and want one bad, and I mean real BAD. Screw any other newer 911, this is what I want.
15:45 this is the most annoying thing I see people do today. Someone creeping up at a stop sign when traffic is coming. On slip and it’s a big accident. Keep your foot on the brake dude in the Toyota.
I think anyone buying a car like this has a dozen cars. It’ll get driven but maybe only a few times per year. I don’t see an issue with that if it’s maintained and loved. A car doesn’t need to hit 100k miles to be worthy
Hm interesting, I found this online: but the most perplexing thing about the color Porsche’s design department chose is its marketing-speak name: Expresso Nature, which means precisely nothing in any language Given that it's brown in a 997 I would have assumed cocoa.
thats why it needs to be federalized. It's a very expensive process (today its around $100k) and you're usually only allowed to keep is as "show and display" so your miles are limited.
What is your favorite 997 model? Thanks for Watching, Liking and Turning On Notifications for New Videos!
997 GT2 RS
997.2 GT3RS 4.0
Gt2
997 speedster, I remember them looking so cool and different:D
Carrera 2 GTS cabriolet manual (since a cab & manual is a must for me)
that minimal steering wheel with no buttons is relaxing to look at
My favorite 🤩
Any 911 with a manual gearbox is one of the best driving cars on the road
[EDIT]: I didn’t realise this got so many likes :D
…Can’t really think of an argument against that 🤠
I would no doubt agree. The feel is visceral and tactile. I don't care about max speed, but Max Feel.
Just wish they had shorter gearing
It’s my dream to get one with manual transmission in the future.
Widowmakers?
I dont really watch the modern stuff but when you do a video about Aston or Porsche, im all here for it!
Jesus that thing looks amazing
I've always had inexplicable lust for the original sport classic
Duck tail and a manual is the way to go.
As a happy 997 turbo owner,, this is fking beautiful
My Dad had a 997.2 GTS - love the sound and the engaging driving experience of the 997
@7:47 thank you!!!! I've been saying this for years, i dont know why every car in every segment has to get bigger. Let trucks be trucks, compacts be compact and sports cars be sports cars not everything needs to be massive and heavy

One of the most beautiful style modern Porsche ever made. There is no bad angles on this car!
I usually don’t care too much about material in the interior, but that craftsmanship is amazing. So pleasing to look at
My #1 dream car for about 14 years now, ever since the Top Gear episode. So glad you got one on the channel!
mate I;m usually all about the cars but must say I'm very impressed by your head cam
Thanks!
fight me on this but this is the most beautiful 911 every made (aside from racing versions)
I'll high five you instead of fight you on this one haha

Same for me.
That interior is so timeless

Yes!! You finally got your hands on one, can't wait to watch this!
Very exclusive! I love porsches with a manual!
I had a 997.1 C2S 6MT and it was such a great car! Currently have a 987.1 Cayman S and enjoying it very much, but I miss that 3.8L.
I agree with you all the way. But. "Sport Classic Gray" to me, is just primer. I love everything else about this car.
In real life it looks better.
I think in Top Gear it sums as “Porsche 911 greatest hits- volume 1”
You nailed it! MT, NA, Flat 6, with ducktail! Perfect!!!!😊
I absolutely adore classy but exciting German cars like this one. My favorite way to spec these cars
Beautiful interior and exterior colors.
Love the exhaust note. Not necessarily into the ground effects. Don’t mind them but don’t care for them. That thing is gonna go for a lot of $
It looks fantastic ❤
I never realized these weren't imported - I distinctly remember seeing and gawking at one of these 13 odd years ago n Houston, wonder if its the same one.
That color with the subtle stripes looks amazing
Really damn pretty 911
I love this car! I prefer this over any of the GT’s. My new favorite!
The big question is now that ed bolian and hoovie just bought bugatti's when is ted gonna get his? Once again tedward delivers another great video
Beautiful example. Not to compare Porsche to BMW, but that sound reminds me so much of my dads e46 M3
Not a lot of cars are perfect from factory. This is definitely one that looks perfect from factory 👌
the whole rear part of the car, simplified rear bumper, clear exhaust poping out, and magnificient ducktail... oh man, I´m not a fan of most of the options of SC, but that back end setup is top
Bro in Camaro instantly knew what was coming up alongside him, no doubt about it.
what a cute little sports car!
This 911 is just beautiful, but that interior 😍🤩🤩🤩🤩 i love brown.
This was sold in the US owner of WeatherTech has one and its shown in Chicago regularly
Even the door cards are so pleasing to stare at
It doesn't have the anchor points for a roof rack. I suppose most people would never miss it, but I would. Every once in a while, on with the roof rack!
I have a 6 speed 2010 C4S cab and a new FL5 type R that is still breaking in. So far I think C4S is more fun than CTR.
Wow! That's pretty cool!😮
so clean
I like how you say Bond Group in cursive
This engine with X51 powerkit is missing a Milltek center muffler bypass (or a Sharkwerk)
That's a beautiful interior for sure! Did they ever put it in a Cayman? I really can't own a car with the engine in the wrong place....
I love this car. Is the auto dimming mirror on the left damaged?
we eating good today, I've never seen a pov drive video of 997 sport classic
It may be the only one!
@@TedwardDrives really enjoyed the video, i didn't know that it had the na engine from the carrera s. this might be just be one of my top 3 porsches.
Again, PORSCHE everyday!
That is a beautiful car.

Beautiful ❤❤❤ can you give any tips on how to get dealerships to use their cars for videos cheers 🎉
If you have something to offer them they will have a reason to give you access to cars
@@TedwardDrives makes sense to me cheers
@@BrokeBoyAutosboth tedward and topherdrives do car photography. Seems like the can take the cars for a spin for some nice pics.
I love all 911's but this compared to a 997 GTS or 4GTS for 1/6th the cost :D
Correct. The GTS was introduced after this, and it is the same car mechanically. That is a huge premium to pay for slightly different cosmetics.
Awesome review Tedward 💪 ❤️
Happy Halloween woohoo aaa 👻 🎃
Love from New York City 🇺🇸 ❤️

Ngl, i'm in love😍
I mean damn!!! leather door pull handle, this is enough for me to know why this car is stupid expensive lol.
Tom,
Could you tell that the steering conveyed more feedback than later 911s, like even the 991?
Yes definitely more tactile than subsequent 911 since this still has the hydraulic rack. The 991 isn't bad but it is a noticeable difference
In my opinion, the 997 is my favorite modern 911. All the ones after start to seem too sterile and large. (I know, all 911s have looked basically the same since the beginning)
I d choose your 930 anytime
At 21:00 you mention "...being stuck in traffic in what may be close to a $500k car", are you referring to the 997 or the red vehicle a couple of lanes further over?
The 997. These are quite valuable now
@TedwardDrives -- You mentioned this is for sale. I checked the Bond Group's website and they only show sold cars. Is this going to Bring A Trailer?
Yes this one will be sold alongside some other special Porsches in our Gruppe P 6 Auction. Keep your eye out next week!
WoW, That's My Ride in the Forza Horizon 5 😂😂
Hi can i use some of your driving footage for a TikTok post just asking for permission due to copyright please let me know
The steering wheel has ZERO buttons.
Saw this on the BAT website such a depressing thought I would never have it. Who ever gets it will be one lucky son of a b!
This is my favorite looking 911.. I wouldn't change a thing on it and just drive the fuck out of it, lol..

probably very easy to work on..

For the price they are going to ask, I feel like this is only going to end up in some collection sitting somewhere. Kinda sad.

Hm interesting, I found this online: but the most perplexing thing about the color Porsche’s design department chose is its marketing-speak name: Expresso Nature, which means precisely nothing in any language
Given that it's brown in a 997 I would have assumed cocoa.
The names are often insane and the difference between two colors could be imperceptible 😂. But I could be wrong!
@@TedwardDrives agreed, they're impossible lol
15:46 MA drivers in a nutshell lol
Those who know, know.
they should call the air cooled cars "oil cooled" cause technically it is
remove the fan and let the car idle for a while and see what happens lol
@@TedwardDrives now that you put it that way. i agree. also the 997 twin turbo 911 (automatic) are great cars. just drop the hammer and hang on.

Day 54 of asking Tedward to drive the S60R
How has a 2010 car been federalised it's not 25 years old?
thats why it needs to be federalized. It's a very expensive process (today its around $100k) and you're usually only allowed to keep is as "show and display" so your miles are limited.
@ Ah my mistake, I thought you said at the start it has been federalised was beyond confused
The 997 is the last 911 🤨
Sadly the German plate is fake... The region code doesn't match the state sticker
That'd be weird..it was purchased from Germany lol
Don't understand the hype around this car. The GT3 RS from the same era is much more interesting and faster, while costing about the same
*cortisol
lol I'm driving and trying my best
@@TedwardDrives and we are grateful for it. stunning 997.2
Wow. I just nut myself. Only gripe is a tiny one: The tail lights aren't as timeless as the rest of the car, a tad dated
colour is perfect, rear light not ;-) Greetings
